20.01.2022 Happy Saturday readers, eaters and watchers!!! Here is some reading for the week ahead!! The Bride Stripped Bare By Nikki Gemmell Casey’s Review I have had this book sitting in my bookcase for quite awhile, just waiting till I got back into reading mode. Let’s just say this started me straight back into reading mode as I finished it in 3 days.and that’s extremely fast for me!!... I have to start off by saying this book is quite confronting, a lot of somewhat pornographic sex stories and strong profanity. This didn’t worry me at all but may upset some people. Firstly this book is written in a very different way. I don’t even know how to explain, but the author Nikki has written it as if you the reader are her. It is a very unusual way, but also interesting way to read. So I guess this is really a story following the sexual journey of a normal housewife. It goes into detail of the non-existent or un-satisfying sex life of a normal housewife and her husband, well I know not all married sex lives are bad.but the main character is very unhappy with her sex life and has never even had an organism. The main character is unhappy with her sex life and sets out to find moreor it finds her I guess. It follows the housewife on a journey, which includes an affair, crazy sex fantasies and even threesomes. Everything is explained in great detail, which as I said can be quite confronting. I really feel that there is more to this story then sex and feel that you get to feel what she is feeling, and wanting. The negative for me is the ending and that she never feels any guilt for her actions of betrayal without giving too much away. I actually really enjoyed the book! My rating: 4/5

17.01.2022 Caseys Homemade Chicken Snitty Tenders!! Ingredients 2 x Chicken breast, cut in half long ways 1 bunch of Parsley chopped... cup grated parmesan 1 cup of flour 2 cups of bread crumbs 1 Garlic glove 1 egg cup olive oil 1. Lay your chicken breast out on a chopping board, and flatten out (I use a large saucepan and bang the chicken lol). Cut the chicken into long pieces (like the shape of a chicken tender). 2. Get 3 bowls ready and in the first place flour, second egg and in the third combine the breadcrumbs, chopped parsley, chopped garlic glove and parmesan. 3. Dip each piece of chicken in the flour, then egg then breadcrumb mixture. 4. Continue to do this with each piece and set aside ready for cooking. 5. In a large frying pan coat the bottom of the pan with about cup of olive oil, and let this get very hot. 6. Place the chicken in the pan, and cook on both sides until golden (try not to over crowd the pan). TIPS: My son loves this recipe, but I just leave out the parsley for him as he seems to have a problem with green stuff lol. We love to serve this with mashed potato and corn on the cob.

08.01.2022 Mad Men.......I am about to start watching season one of Mad Men....Any one watched it? Any thoughts?

06.01.2022 Journey 2: The Mysterious Island - Review by Casey I hired this movie, as I thought it would be something my son would enjoy, and was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it myself. It’s obviously about (as the title says) a journey to the mysterious island. It follows a stepdad, stepson and grandfather with a couple of tag alongs on their journey. It is mainly about the adventure and the magical land and creatures but also has some romance, and a good story about the rela...tionship between the stepdad and his stepson. I have a guilty like of Dwyane Jonhson or as I know him The Rock. He often gets a bad rap with his acting, but I found him quite entertaining and funny in this film and my son also likes him. He seems to suite children’s movies. The thing I loved most about the movie was the magical creatures, and great scenes from the island. It looked very real, and Bailey thought it was awesome. Only negatives I guess are that it was farfetched, but it is a children’s movie so this was expected. I wouldn’t suggest this for very young children as some of the scenes are a bit scary. My son was fine with it and he is 7. My rating: 3/5 Baileys rating: 4/5

05.01.2022 We are now on Facebook to make viewing our blog easier!

05.01.2022 Happy Monday!!! A movie review to start off your week! Colombiana Hubby took miss Miss Mo for a walk to return the our Saturday night DVD only to return with Milk, flour, sugar and with the news that the DVD was still sitting on our book case! Ah the joys!... So Colombiana, let’s start by saying that it was Hubby’s turn to pick the movie. A young girl sees her parents murdered and when she grows up she becomes a stone cold assassin, eventually facing her parent’s killers. There is lots of action, not particularly realistic, lots of killing. A love interest does arise, and as a bonus for sitting through the movie I got to see Michael Vartan who I love (from his Alias days). The movie wasn’t bad but it was unrealistic and farfetched (like most action movies). Surprisingly the ending wasn’t what I expected. Hubby thought it was OK, and I thought it was, so if it’s the last movie at the DVD shop then watch it but I wouldn’t go searching for it. Rating : 2/5

04.01.2022 Perfect weather to pull out the slow cooker!!!! Slow Cooked Beef Stroganoff Between 500-700grams steak (I used casserole)... 1 onion chopped teaspoon crushed garlic -3/4 cup chopped mushrooms 2 beef stock cubes 1 cup water cup flour Salt and pepper to taste Put all ingredients except sour cream into the slow cooker and mix well. Cover and cook for 8 to 9 hours. Add the sour cream 15 minutes before the end of cooking, and gently stir in. This was so so so so easy and so yum!! I was so lazy that I put my casserole beef in whole and it just broke up on its own. Hubby doesn’t really like mushrooms but said he enjoyed this one and would eat it again. So thankfully I have another easy meal in my recipe rotation! Bubba (15 months) doesn’t usually eat her meat but scoffed this down and had seconds. The meat was unbelievably tender and it’s fantastic to find a recipe that uses a ‘cheap’ cut of beef and turns it into something beautiful. I served it with rice and veges. YUM!!!!

04.01.2022 Harry Potter Vs. Twlight I was a Harry Potter fan before the movies, I lined up to get the books on release date I read them in a day and then waited for another year for the next book. A few months before a book was released I would reread all of the past books and enjoy them as much as the first time. I went to the first movie on the release date so excited and ready for the best movie of my life. As usual with a book to movie adaption I was disappointed and didn’t even b...other to see the rest of the movies at the cinemas. I was so disappointed when the books ended. I loved growing with the characters; I loved being sucked into a magical world so different from my own. My favourite characters were (obviously not the main character in my usual form) Ron, Neville Longbottom, Mr and Mrs Weasley). There were so many characters to love and watch grow. In short, I loved the Harry Potter series. I had the merchandise, I read and reread. When the Twilight books came out both of my sisters read the books and were in love, all they talked about was Twilight this, Edward that, Bella this, Jacob that. I was sick of it! The press sprouted that it was ‘the next Harry Potter’, better then Harry Potter. I was mortified how could it be compared to Harry Potter? Then my two sisters trapped, forced, made me read Twilight. I wanted to be uninterested, bored with the book, and to be fair the first book was ok but not totally enthralling. I was told to persevere and to my dismay could not put any of the following books down. I was well and truly sucked in, for god sake I had a team. Yep a team! I am team Jacob. I went to the cinemas to see Twilight and just like Harry Potter it was nothing in comparison to the book. In fact, Twilight the movie was worse than that. If you hadn’t read the book you probably wouldn’t have figured out what was going on in the movie. It was full of brooding actors staring at each other then I saw Breaking Dawn and (although not as good as the book) there was improvement! Story lines explained, better acting and more feeling! This movie made me want to go back and read the books again. So in the Harry Potter vs. Twilight debate I sit firmly on the fence, a position that I rarely take! I love them both and could reread both series and thoroughly enjoy and be enthralled by them. I guess that this is what a good book and good writing are all about, the reader being thoroughly transported to another world and wanting to revisit again and again. KT

03.01.2022 Kelly's review of 'Episodes' Season one Mat La Blanc hasn’t been in the spot light much since Friends. When I saw him on the Graham Norton show I immediately liked him, he seemed funny and kind. I saw a scene from his new show and thought...I am going to love this. It looked so funny. I went into watching the season really wanting to like it, willing to give it every opportunity and chance to be funny and get better. There were some one liners that made me giggle or have a li...ttle chuckle, not until the final two episodes in season one did I actually properly laugh out loud and think that’s funny! The series itself is very different than the normal sitcom that we are so use to seeing on our screens, which is why i think it took a bit longer to get into. The show is quite slow moving. Mat La Blanc is one of the funniest characters and is the most likable yet despicable person at the same time. I think he is a great actor and very different to ‘Joey’. Mat L Blanc plays himself. The idea is hilarious but doesn’t seem to translate onto the screen!!! I will give the show another chance (yes that’s how much I want to like it!!) and watch season two...let’s hope it is all as funny as the fight scene in the last episode of season one!! Rating: 2 1/2 out of 5

02.01.2022 I Don't Know How She Does It I got to choose the movie on a Saturday movie night with Hubby (certainly wouldn't have been his choice). It is a certified 'chick flick'! A light hearted fun movie. Sarah Jessica Parker plays a realistic parent, with 'believable' emotions. I enjoyed watching it and my husband thought it was 'alright' which for a chick flick is pretty high praise! The other good thing about this movie was that it is child friendly. We were babysitting the night ...that we watched it and didn't have any problems watching it in front of a two year old, which is unusual!! My favourite character was Sarah Jessica's husband - sympathetic, supportive and kind. The negatives.....I was unimpressed with how stay at home mums were presented. As uppity, superior and smug. Isn't the idea of a movie showing how women - in particular mothers- have lots of different hats they need to wear, to empower or support the choices that women make? This movie shows working mothers as the better/more real/harder working women. It could have shown the difficulties that working mothers face (PLENTY) without making stay at home mums seem inferior. As a fun comedy it is worth a watch, especially for mums. RATE: 3/5 See more

01.01.2022 Caseys review of I Dont know How She Does It I found this movie to be an easy, light watch. It does at times address issues that all mothers go through but in a fun and enjoyable away. I really enjoyed Sarah Jessica's character in this. She portrays the struggling mother well, but also has some very funny moments that make you laugh. I also really enjoy Sarah Jesscia's assistants character, reminded me of how I was when I was pregnant. There were no particular negatives in th...is film for me, except perhaps working mums seem to get much higher praise then stay at home mums. I feel that the movie didn't embrace all mums as it should. Its definitely worth the watch but maybe one to watch with the girls RATE: 3/5
