23.01.2022 Lovely junior break up day today. About 70 attending and enjoying beautiful tennis weather and a terrific lunch. Congratulations to the runner of the Cecily Carman Memorial Trophy - Tom Phillips. We have 13 kids playing over winter and we look forward to seeing everyone in the Spring for another tennis season
23.01.2022 So tomorrow is June 24 and also the day our lawn courts are closed for the season. Yep we got most of June in - meaning that in the 18/19 season our lawn courts were open for just over 9 months! Dave and Steve were out both this morning and yesterday enjoying some ‘winter solstice’tennis. All 3 hardcourts also in action today with junior coaching. We have 13 kids playing winter competition.
23.01.2022 **Reminder** Under 6 days to go to get your orders in. https://nelsonteamwear.com.au/club/reade-park-tc
22.01.2022 If you need help re choosing your size ..... Step 1 Go to your wardrobe and choose a similar style garment to the one you are purchasing.... Step 2 Next, lay the garment on a flat surface and measure from underarm to underarm. Make sure this is at the fullest part of the chest. The result is called the Half Chest Measurement. Step 3 Compare the Half Chest Measurement that you have just worked out to the size tables on the portal and select the size with the closest match. Please note each style on our website has a different sizing chart so make sure you use the correct chart for the style. https://nelsonteamwear.com.au/club/reade-park-tc
22.01.2022 **** New Reade Park Tops Ready To Order **** Please visit the portal and order your tops asap. 22.01.2022 Hi Tennis Parents, Does your child want to continue / commence playing matches for Reade Park? Season 2019/20 might seem like a way off but we want to get started early to establish our possible teams. ... Please nominate your child for competition tennis by completing the online form below. This will help us plan ... but we are not asking for 100% commitment at this stage as we know things can change with kids! Fees have not changed from last year at $135 and tennis remains the best value sport for kids! First match on October 19 (end of Week 1, Term 4) with friendly trials and team practice prior. Please post questions below or contact our Reade Park Junior Coordinator Megan Phillips: [email protected] / 0407 720 033
22.01.2022 We are running Open Court Sessions 'Get Your Racquet On' at Reade Park over the next few weeks. You might have seen the promos on the telly during the Aussie Open. Wednesdays at 6.30pm... Spread the word and let's see if we can get a crowd along.
22.01.2022 Reade Park Club Open Day is this Saturday. All courts will be open for play and your Team Captain should be in touch to organise a time. We will have a blind tennis demonstration from 12.15 and then the official opening at 12.30 by Heather Holmes-Ross - Mayor of City of Mitcham... Please try and be there at 12.30 to show off what a strong Club we are. Junior practice times are as per separate communication sent to parents. Many thanks to Brendan for getting the courts looking great and to all the people who came to the recent working bee - it was gratifying to see a whole bunch of new faces pitching in - including some people that are new to the club! Below are some photos from the working bee including Paul Griffin multi tasking by smashing out some squats whilst cleaning windows

21.01.2022 Inspired by Wimbledon? Now is the time to turn your thoughts to smashing tennis balls around Reade Park this coming season! Please fill in the below Seniors registration form as soon as you can and liaise with your team mates from last season.... Please also forward onto anyone that you know is thinking of joining us. Looking forward to a great season ahead. PS this form is for Senior competition and there will be a separate Junior Competition form to follow in a couple of weeks.
21.01.2022 This Saturday is our annual working bee where the motto 'many hands make light work' reigns supreme. We want to smash it between 830 and 1130am. Some of the jobs include window cleaning, clearing out our storage shed, cleaning out kitchen cupboards/fridge/freezer, tidying junior shed and lots of other small jobs.... If you can volunteer just 1 hour it will make a difference! Just turn up and you will be allocated a job. It is no coincidence that there is an informal junior practice so that parents can chip in whilst their offspring play tennis! Watch out for an email from Megan with allocated time slots for their teams. Cheers ... Tom
21.01.2022 Alex Sinclair is a more than handy tennis player in the Saturday morning comp. But he is becoming better known as a distiller - creating amazing spirits! Urban Gin is a new Club Sponsor and we thank Alex for his support - look out for the new signage on Court 8 soon.

19.01.2022 COVID-19 update: The Clubhouse is now closed but bathrooms are accessible to enable hand washing. Organised social tennis (Wednesday afternoon men / Saturday afternoon mixed) is now cancelled as it is doubles in nature and therefore contravenes the updated recommendations.... I am aware that (currently) enforcement applies only when over 10 persons only but as a responsible Club I am keen for us to meet the recommendations. Individual members are still able to use courts BUT please: - play singles only to keep in line with the recommendations - there is to be a maximum of 10 members at any time at the Club so in the unlikely event of more 10 in attendance then some will need to leave! - consider avoiding Wednesday afternoon and Saturday afternoon to lessen chance of breaching 10 person limit - maintain spare court between courts being used - practice social distancing Your strict adherence to the above is appreciated to ensure we continue to have access to the Club during this period. Regards ... Tom Twelftree President - Reade Park Lawn Tennis Club 0421 619 366
19.01.2022 We had 2 special visitors on Saturday who were mightily impressed by our beautiful Club that looked as good as it ever has on a perfect morning with all 17 courts in action. This was an opportunity to introduce Nicolle Flint Member for Boothby and Carolyn Power MP to Reade Park and discuss our future development plans. They were able to spend well over an hour chatting with Members including as number of our Juniors and their parents. It was pleasure to have them visit and we thank them very much for their time.

14.01.2022 FAST4 doubles was excellent fun tonight - on a warm but very still evening. We had 12 players including 2 newbies - one of whom was a young tennis mad 14 year old lad from Sydney who is visiting Adelaide for 11 weeks to go to a local school where is Aunt is Principal. He turned up by himself, introduced himself and had his first lawn court experience in a lovely set of tennis with myself, another '40 something' and Club Secretary Dawn who won't mind me saying she is in the ...70+ bracket. It got me thinking that this scenario is one of the great things about the game of tennis. I can't think of too many other sports where it could be replicated so simply. Anyway, FAST4 is a great way to get another hit in during the week so please come out of you are keen - 630 till 730 Wednesdays.
14.01.2022 Our Green Ball 1 (white) team played in the GF today and unfortunately came 2nd. These boys competed incredibly well during the year and finished minor premiers but went down to the Denman team today. We are very, very proud of them. And, we look forward to seeing them progress to yellow ball next season. Well done boys!
13.01.2022 AGM this evening (Wednesday) at the Club - 645 for 7pm. Glass of wine and nibbles provided. Please come along if you are able.

We are going to ask that tickets be bought prior thru Trybooking. Check out the flyer and we look forward to seeing you all soon!

11.01.2022 We had about 15 Reade Park kids playing winter comp. One team in our own right and a number of kids combining with other Clubs. Jack Kourakis and Max Edwards played in Boys Green Ball in a team with kids from Hope Ward and Kingswood - and they won their GF last weekend! Well done lads and well done to all players who are now getting ready for summer competition which starts in mid October.
11.01.2022 Do t forget to purchase your tickets!!

09.01.2022 Shout out to your Club Administrators - in particular Junior Coordinator Megan Phillips, Club Captain Andrew Burrows and Dawn Hurley. We have just finished loading all teams into League Manager, finding Team Managers, booking alternate courts ... plus a dozen other tasks ... and many phone calls and emails. Trust me .... it's no small feat. ... It is great to tell you that Reade Park will field 35 teams in the 19/20 season meaning we are in the top 3 or 4 Adelaide Clubs in terms of competition teams (Seacliff, Denman and Tea Tree Gully are the other biggies). 10 mid-week Ladies 12 Junior 9 Sat morning Men 4 Sat arvo metro

This scholarship aims to help grow the number of female tennis coaches by offering targeted professional development and financial support towards their Junior Development Coaching Course. Well done ladies! We look forward to seeing the positive impact you will continue to have for tennis in South Australia!
06.01.2022 W.O.W. I am thinking that the WA State Govt and City of Busselton REALLY needed the land that the Busselton Tennis Club was located on to stump up most of the $4m to relocate them to this brand new facility. Delivered in less than 2 years after signing and right on schedule. They move fast in the West.
06.01.2022 Club Sponsor of the week: Holiday Wonders have been leading the way with quality tours and adventure holidays for over 25 years from our office in Adelaide, South Australia. Michael Agostino is a Club Neighbour and was good enough to donate (in addition to his sponsorship of the Club) $750 worth of travel vouchers for our Quiz Night.... If you have holiday plans please give them a call.

04.01.2022 Well done to all players who entered the Inter Club Tournament played over the last two Sundays. We finished off at Somerton Park this morning and watched some great tennis. All players respected their opposition and showed fabulous court etiquette. Congratulations to all winners and runners up, you should be extremely proud of yourselves.
04.01.2022 Whilst the world has been in a sporting holding pattern, there has been some activity at Reade Park during COVID-19! Since the abrupt end of the summer season we have managed to keep Reade Park open for both social tennis and coaching - observing the COVID-19 guidelines. Tennis is better placed than most sports to continue operating and it has been great to see people on the courts.... Today (weather permitting) is also the start of the winter season which is able to start some 4 weeks prior to traditional winter sports due to the nature of our game. I am thrilled to tell you that we have 26 Junior Members playing across 8 teams. 4 of these teams are Reade Park standalone and 4 are shared with other local Clubs (Denman and Hope Ward) - as is common in the winter season. We have a team playing in the Green Ball State League which is for the most advanced players aged 10 and under in Adelaide. We also have our first ever Winter Pennant team which is made up of a group of 13/14 year olds who are playing footy/basketball on Saturday mornings but want to continue playing tennis - so they are playing in this adult competition which will be great for their development. We will also be able to hold our AGM in the traditional format and you will be advised of this in due course. Finally, I am pleased to advise of the recipient of the Cecily Carman Memorial Trophy for the 19/20 season. Cecily was a much loved and valued Reade Park member and this trophy is provided by her husband and Reade Park Life Member Bill Carman. This years recipient was Georgie Twelftree and she was awarded the trophy by Club Coach Josh Boots. I know that Georgie and her family were honoured to receive this special award that is awarded to a Junior Member and is based on a number of criteria including commitment, improvement etiquette and being a good team member. Congratulations Georgie! Tom Twelftree Club President
03.01.2022 Important day at your Club! Trenching has commenced for our irrigation system replacement! See photos of James braving the cold today. It will be up and running within a fortnight. This is the single best thing we can do to improve our lawn courts and maintain them in the years ahead.... The system we are replacing is well past end of life. We will get better water coverage and save a lot of money each year with a system that will be about 30% more efficient. Project cost is just under $60k. Many thanks to City of Mitcham for their $15k grant and Federal Government $7.5k grant under the Stronger Communities initiative via Nicolle Flint Member for Boothby. We are proud that we are able to invest in our special precinct to ensure lawn tennis remains strong in South Australia! See more
02.01.2022 Probably the biggest weekend in our Clubs history? - Friday Night Scotch Tennis breakup - Saturday morning Junior Finals and last round of SMMLTA - Saturday arvo hosting all 7 Metro Grand Finals - Saturday Night Paul Griffins 50th party... - Sunday afternoon Junior Club breakup Highlights include - Junior Div 5 girls, Metro Div 1 Men and Metro Div 2 ladies winning pennants - Sam Keane being awarded the Cecily Carman Memorial Trophy
02.01.2022 Here is a short video of our new $60k irrigation system in action! We appreciate the support of the City of Mitcham who provided $15k towards the project and $7.5k from the office of Nicolle Flint Member for Boothby via the Stonger Communities program. We really appreciate your support.... The Club funded 67% of the project which is a significant amount of money and this % is much higher than Clubs tend to contribute for projects of this size. In the background is our Greenkeeper Brendan who is really appreciative of this initiative which is long overdue and will enable him to present our lawn courts better than in recent seasons. We will also save approx $3k per annum on water costs. PS at the end you will see the finishing touches being made to the part replacement of the pergola which the Club has funded 100% in preparation for the new season.
