25.01.2022 STAND ALONE An intense 3 day improvisation workshop with Tony Osborne A solo performance is a dance between imagination and articulation. It is a collaboration between senses and thinking, memory and presence a collaboration within which, one is never alone! This workshop will focus on strategies for listening, observing and sensing in the thinking body of the improviser. By deepening consciousness and awareness of the body-in-space, the improviser also expands the palle...t from which to draw inspiration and enhance performance presence. Developing fearless spontaneity and deploying the skills, intelligence and aspirations that you already possess, will be central to this workshop. You will explore how to articulate material that represents you or your fictions, find your unique movement & narrative characteristics and explore how to keep your ideas coming while being observed. Stand Alone will rigorously examine attention, intention and respect for the performance space and you will also have a lot of FUN!!! For further details go to the website: www.tonyosborne.net/workshops 10 places only bookings are essential Calls or emails to Tony seeking further information or to discuss any element of the workshop are welcome. the bio: Since 2013 Tony Osborne has performed (and trained others to perform) Roman Ondak’s Swap: Sydney (2013 & 2014) Basel (2014), Shanghai (2015) & New York (2017) ongoing. He has worked as theatre actor, dancer and singer in numerous productions since 1980. His practice of long form improvisation started in 2000 when he moved from Perth to Sydney which enabled a shared practice with Sydney and Melbourne improvisers that continues to this day. Tony stages the long-standing annual national improvisation event, Precipice in Canberra every September. After a long music hiatus, in 2009 he joined both the Sydney University Graduate Choir as a singer and as a vocal/electronicist in the experimental improvising group, Splinter Orchestra. COVID19 condtions: This workshop will comply with the current NSW Health guidelines. If you have flu-like symptoms in the days leading up to the workshop, do not attend and get in touch asap. Hand Sanitiser will be provided at the site. Spacing guides will allow appropriate distance to be maintained at all times. All attending will need to register each day on arrival by providing their name and phone number on the simple attendance records. If pandemic conditions change and ReadyMade studios are closed you will receive a full refund. I have just successfully completed a 6 week series of workshops which was run along these lines and for solo work the compromises are minimal.

18.01.2022 ONLINE BOOKINGS ARE BACK FOR 2021 We are delighted with easing of restrictions to be moving to Step 3 of the ReadyMade Works Covid Safe Plan. To ensure a manageable level of hirers using the space the minimum length of hire will be a half-day (4 hours) hire. Hirers will be asked to continue to wipe... down all frequently used surfaces, maintain social distancing and provide contact tracing details. No more than twenty people are allowed on the dance floor for classes or workshops. Head to the website to book online for hires now in 2021 https://www.readymadeworks.com.au/about-studio-hire

17.01.2022 A WINTER HAPPY HOUR! We are delighted to announce the twelfth edition of our Happy Hour Series with works by Victoria Hunt, Tra Mi Dinh and Cleo Mees on Saturday 3 July and Sunday 4 July at 6pm. Tra Mi Dinh will perform Not The Piece - a nod to the dismissed, forgotten, silly, or potentially perfect alternate ideas that get thrown around the rehearsal room. These fleeting mo(ve)ments are offered another life in a fresh context for practically the same purpose. ... Cleo Mees will present Feeling Good - a work about the precarity, pleasure and meaning of work for the artist-academic under neoliberalism. Part story and part essay, its protagonist grapples with an overpowering loss of faith in her line of work. As she searches for a new way to ascribe value to the things in her life, she finds sustenance (and maybe answers) in everyday pleasures, feminist writing, and the muddy beauty of team sport. Victoria Hunt will share work from Weather Beings - her project with her ongoing collaborators Moe Clark and James Brown. Book your tickets here : https://www.readymadeworks.com.au/happy-hour

13.01.2022 THANK YOU AND FAREWELL At our recent Annual General Meeting we celebrated the massive contributions Julie-Anne Long and Adelina Larsson have made as leaders and board members of ReadyMade Works. Stepping down from her seven-year role as Chair of the board, Co-director and Secretary, Julie-Anne has been critical to the establishment and growth of ReadyMade Works. Reflecting on traipsing around Sydney with founding director, Sam Chester, to find a much-needed, affordable rehear...sal space for Sydney's independent dance artists, Julie-Anne left us with some wise words, "spaces that enable people to come together are now needed more than ever." With much gratitude we thank Julie-Anne for her role in making ReadyMade Works a possibility. As Adelina Zoomed-in with a studio full of students rehearsing in the background, we thanked her for the enormous contribution she has made as a Caretaker and Board Member of ReadyMade Works since 2018. Transforming the studio and our online presence, while making the space overflow with enthusiasm for practice, exchange, learning and opportunity, we will miss Adelina's passion and care for the community of artists engaged with ReadyMade Works. We wish Adelina all the best with her new position as Dance Lecturer at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts and all her coming projects.
