Mud Men, Deluge monsters, a breathing rubbish pile comes to life, goldfish rise into the air, a live choir, screen printers, actors, puppeteers, a flash mob, musicians, projection artists and more are only 8 days away from bringing to you one of the most unique and inspiring pieces of live performance. Bring a friend and join us for a night of surprises where the audience are not just spectators!! Tell a friend! Everyone is invited. A free event! 2 nights only. 13.01.2022 What's it all about? Dance, performance, multimedia, exhibitions, workshops and more! Lismore’s artists are about to transform an empty CBD shop space at Lismore Central into a creative hotbed called The Overtopping. The Overtopping is a studio that welcomes people to engage as creative collaborators, participants or simply spectators in an inspiring creative response to the recent Flood in Lismore.... The Overtopping is an artist led initiative that invites the public to creatively engage with some of Lismore’s most talented emerging and professional experimental artists to explore the power of resilience, connection and community to create a new, stronger, more accepting and freeing community The Overtopping is part of the Creative Lismore activated shop space project The Art of Doing Business in Lismore and a collaboration between Lismore Central Shopping Centre RealArtWorks, Lismore City Council and Creative Lismore

05.01.2022 This is belated thanks to Lynda Rose and Dave Batten and their family for the incredibly generous donation of a piano to the space, it is being used and loved both our core artists and passers by who drop in to have a tinkle on the ivories. 02.01.2022 As we bump out the last of our toys from The Overtopping Studio, it’s very clear that this has been an amazing opportunity for the artists and community of Lismore!! In the past 6 months RealArtWorks have taken an empty shop space and recreated a flurry of creative activity. Exhibitions, workshops, film nights, performances and more. We built a dance floor, had free lunchtime concerts, and made a place where people could drop in, be creative and have fun. Community Choirs, lo...cal artists, international artists, environmental groups, have all made use of the space. Emerging artists have had the chance to exhibit and sell their work and over 1,200 people have visited The Overtopping Studio! A huge thanks to everyone involved, especially to Zeb Schulz Katie Cooper-Wares and Phil Blackman who steered the creative ship. To all the Creatives involved, to everyone who has helped us set up and bump out and to all the people who used the space, thank you!! Realartworks are very grateful to Creative Lismore and Lismore City Council for their support. To The Art of Doing Business in Lismore and to Lismore Central Shopping Centre who generously donated their shop space and made the vision a reality, thank you! Almost one year on, as the City of Lismore recovers and grows stronger than ever before, it feels great to know that the collective efforts of Council, Creative Industries, Business and Community have been so successful- We love Lismore!
