24.01.2022 After a week away in Brisbane photographing a couple of families and trying to keep my kids entertained we’re finally back home. I’m exhausted. I’m off to Talwood tomorrow for another family shoot and we were then meant to embark on our week long trip to Longreach (photographing families along the way with my own family in tow) but it has had to be postponed. I was looking forward to getting away with my little crew for a bit as we don’t get to spend a heap of time together ...- so looks like we’ll be staying put for the second week of school holidays. 23.01.2022 I don’t think I ever shared this here. Earlier in the year when QLD were experiencing the initial self isolation period I took part in a mini keepsake film challenge with @filminglifeacademy. It’s far from perfect and there’s so much I need to work on but I’m thrilled with my first attempt. I haven’t made another film since because I’ve just been too busy but I absolutely love this little video and it makes me smile every time I watch it.

23.01.2022 THANK YOU... ...to everyone who has supported me and my little business again this year. It was a major challenge at one stage and an absolute cracker during another. 2020 has been by far the busiest I’ve ever been and I could NEVER have gotten through it without all the support from my family and friends who have looked after my kids while I travel all over the place, photographing other families for my job, that’s not really a job - because I honestly love what I do and I n...ever think of it as ‘work’. And thank you to every family, couple and business that has employed me this year and trusted me to photograph them the only way I know how. It’s a huge responsibility and I really feel the importance of the moments I’m asked to document. You’re continued support helps me contribute to my own family which I’m THE MOST thankful for. 15.01.2022 Until having kids myself I never could really understand what mothers meant when I would hear them say they would do anything for their children. I just didn’t fully comprehend that. Motherhood isn’t what I thought it would be when I was growing up - when I longed to be a mum myself. There’s so much I love, agonise, stress, adore, cry, grieve and laugh about during this ride which takes me by surprise nearly every day. Even though I can without a doubt share so many common ...experiences, feelings and stories with other mums about motherhood we are also all running our own unique paths to be the best examples to our kids as well as living up to our own expectations as to what type of mother we should be. It’s a battle some days/weeks I tell ya. Agreed?

15.01.2022 Howdy! It’s moi. I thought it was about time I jumped on and showed my face and share a little bit about myself so you can kinda get to know the person behind the camera/Instagram... So, I’m Pip (short for Pippa not Phillipa). Born in Miles and grew up on the Gold Coast for my early years of childhood then moved to Brisbane around 8 years old where I stayed until my late 20’s. Met my husband at a pub (isn’t that where all the classic love stories begin?) and then we move...d out to Texas.... I love food. Eating out at restaurants is one of my favourite things to do. I don’t get to do it that often obviously because of where we live, but when I get the chance to, I’m as happy as a pig in mud. My favourite smells are rain on the road and a good ol’ fashioned BBQ. Can’t beat that snags and onion aroma I traveled overseas for the first time EVER last year to Greece for my 40th birthday (yes, late to the game I know). I was warned I would catch the travel bug which I did... Now Italy and Cuba are sitting high on my ‘to do’ travel list. I have an indoor plant obsession - currently 51 are strewn throughout our home and 34 of those are in the one room #junglevibes #husbandhatesit I don’t really like talking about myself so I’m not even sure this is of any interest to you.... so maybe if you’ve got a question then just ask me instead! 14.01.2022 For a long time I offered digital only packages. Which was great. It was all I ever thought I needed to offer and all that I thought you guys needed. After I delivered the digital photos from a session I would then recommend who my client should use for printing and then hope to God that they actually DID print the photos. I realised after a while that this just wasn’t happening... Which is why I recently changed my packages from ‘digital only’ to digital + prints. I want yo...u guys to have tangible evidence of our time together. And that’s not for my own sake - it’s purely to ensure that you are passing on photos from your generation to the next. There’s going to be a HUGE gap of unprinted photos from your families story from the last 15-20 years give or take, because once digital photography became a thing, people stopped printing. Everyone just hurried to upload their fave images to Facebook for everyone to see and comment on - and that’s it. That’s where they’ve stayed. I’m here to make SURE your photos are printed. That’s why ALL of my packages include not only digital files but physical, textured and nostalgic prints for you and your family to enjoy for years and years to come. 13.01.2022 86 year old Ken sorting the weaners. While I was photographing Ken he demonstrated and explained to me how he gently talks to these young calves to ensure they feel safe, calm and respected. This whole process ran like a well oiled machine... It was a pleasure to witness. These are the photos that will be cherished for years to come. Ken is a huge part of this families history. He has no doubt passed his generational expertise onto his son who in turn is passing this same k...nowledge onto to his own children. I’m going to brave the pain and go ahead with tomorrow and Mondays shoots as I really can’t reschedule but I think I will be able to bear weight by then. 05.01.2022 At the start of January this year I started a 365 project. I’d been missing photographing my kids so this was the perfect solution. I took a photo every day up until July. Then I just stopped. Work was so busy and I was struggling to make time to not only capture but quickly edit any photos I took for this project. I’ve haven’t photographed anything outside of work since July and I’ve missed it so much. I’ve taken a couple of personal photos in the last few days and it’s bee...n weird really. Weird to actually be photographing them again. That’s the only word I can think of to describe it. Or maybe foreign...? I need to make more time for this again because they’re the whole reason I started a career in photography. They’re forever my inspiration. Anyone else fall off a personal project/365 wagon? 02.01.2022 Last shot of the session. Right on dusk.... There wasn’t much natural light left so I had to bump the ISO up on this to 1000. I used to be so scared of a higher ISO for the fear of bringing grain into my images but now days I crank that ISO (when needed) and don’t even hesitate. A pretty slow shutter speed of 1/125 was used to allow more light in but making sure I didn’t shoot too slow and get unintentional blur.... Aperture was f/2.5 but I usually shoot around f/1.8 to get that really blurry back ground that I love. 01.01.2022 What a way to bring in the new year... A couple of days ago I rolled my ankle and heard a very loud crunch. X-rays today show nothing is broken but there’s ligament damage for sure. I’ve basically been horizontal for the last 48hrs and keeping my foot iced and elevated - and it looks like I’ll be this way for a couple of more days yet... I’m hoping with EVERYTHING in my being that I’ll be ok for my upcoming shoots on the 4th and 5th Jan so rest is my priority right now.... Thank you to everyone who has supported me this year and I’m wishing you all a healthy and wonderful 2021. Please tell me you’re doing something a lot more exciting than I am tonight
