23.01.2022 Rest. Restore. Recover.... Self-care isn't selfish Self-care, self-love, self-support, self-nurturing or hygge whatever you want to call it, it’s one of the greatest investments you can make for your physical, mental and emotional health & well-being.... When you nurture yourself, you’re better equipped to help others. Self-care isn’t selfish. It’s mandatory. Fuel your soul so you can give your best to your people. We need all of YOU! ~ Dr. Sara Gottfried MD, Author of The Hormone Cure If you’re someone who actually finds it hard to care for yourself, and give yourself permission to carve out that time, then you probably need it more than anyone else! Self care is something that can be done daily - it doesn't need to be a grand or time consuming act (check out the link below for 50 simple ideas). Today - for me - is a day I need to take a bit more time for some self care - slow down, turn inward and nurture - me. My transition toward menopause is teaching me to slow down, and to really listen to my body - both physical and mental. Being in tune with my body and aware of it's needs makes riding this roller coaster so much more manageable and even enjoyable. Do you practice self care? What is your favourite activity? https://realgirls.com.au/50-simple-ways-to-start-a-daily-s/

21.01.2022 Is it hot in here? Or is it a hot flash?

14.01.2022 Weight fluctuation can be so annoying! Have you felt the frustration of working hard to maintain a healthy body weight, only to step on the bathroom scale and see the numbers going in the wrong direction or not quickly enough in the right direction! I know I have! It can be super disheartening, especially when we are making a conscious effort to make healthy changes in our lives, to not see the results we expect reflected in the number on the scale.bathroom scale... I am sure I am not the only to have this happen, and then think ‘stuff it’ I may as well eat cake when the numbers don’t budge in the right direction or quick enough. However the bathroom scale is only one measure of health, and it’s unwillingness to budge some days sometimes has NOTHING to do with your true body weight. Check out my post 'Weight fluctuations what the numbers on the scale really mean' - and find out 6 truths about those annoyingly normal daily weight fluctuations Let me know below - is this something that drives you crazy? https://realgirls.com.au/weight-fluctuations/

13.01.2022 DID YOU KNOW: Pap Smears are now called Cervical Screening Tests. Whilst the procedure is the same, the test performed is different - if the test is negative, your next screening is due in 5 years, not 2 years as previously. ... Chat to your GP or womens health nurse and continue screening beyond menopause until at least your 74th birthday :)

03.01.2022 A healthy lifestyle should be just that - a lifestyle that suits you and the life you want to live. A healthy lifestyle is NOT a 12 week challenge that deprives you and smashes your body for 12 weeks and stops as soon as the 'challenge' is over. A healthy lifestyle is NOT a 'wagon' that you get on and 'fall off'.... and get back on again.... A healthy lifestyle is eating well, moving well, living well - and is suitable for the entire family - for life. Shifting the 'diet' mindset from deprive and punish - to nourish and supporting your body is key to all that we do here at Real Girls.... "Working with Joanne provided me with strategies that easily fit around my family, there are no strict menus to follow. There is no counting or weighing, so it is really easy to follow. This is the easiest and most rewarding way of not only losing weight but gaining better health. I am now comfortable in my clothes again, when I started I didn’t think that would be possible - Sharon" If you're tired of challenges and wagons - and want more energy and to feel happier, healthier, and are ready to get REAL about what's possible for you book yourself a lifestyle review call and let's chat. https://realgirls.lpages.co/lifestyle-review-call/
