22.01.2022 THE BEE WHISPERER Barry Phillips has been working with The Real Group for over twelve months, helping us to build our hives. At 83 years old , Barry moved to Yeppoon in 1955 and has been working with bees for over 60 years. There is nothing Barry doesn’t know about bees. Western Australia is renowned for having some of Australia’s best honey due to their rich Jarrah forests, but Barry believes his home grown honey is amongst the best in world. He thinks this is due to the f...act we have similar fauna here on the Capricorn Coast with many Tea Trees (Melaleuca) who provide fantastic pollen and nectar. At present we have six hives with over 250,000 bees in our apiary. Our hives are surrounded by Iron Bark, Spotted Gum and Eucalyptus trees in addition to citrus plants and garden flowers. We are also thrilled to have Barry’s 20 year old grandson Alex Phillips-Douglas working with us on the farm. He has all of his Grandfather’s grace and work ethic.

Due to Covid restrictions it’s a bit different this year - floats are lining up along Farnborough Road so you can drive past to view all of the amazing efforts of community groups of our region. 14.01.2022 Congratulations to Yeppoon RSL President Bill Tahu on a very special night last night celebrating the 100th Anniversary of the Yeppoon RSL. And to Lou Shipway who did an amazing job. We were honoured to hold the event at The Real Group. Our table settings included placemats with historic photos and letters that tell the story of the Yeppoon RSL.... Thank you to everyone in Yeppoon who lent us their military slouch hats. These were placed at each table with vintage looking medic bottles as an acknowledgment of our amazing military personnel and medics. We included Rosemary as traditionally sprigs of rosemary are worn on ANZAC Day and sometimes on Remembrance Day, and are usually often out by Legacy and the RSL. Rosemary has particular significance for Australians, as it is found growing wild on the Gallipoli peninsula. Finally the native plants, hessian and brass tins. Lest we forget.

08.01.2022 Thank you to those guests who visited us yesterday for our open day at The Real Group property in Yeppoon. From an old horse training shed, we have renovated the main building to become a state of the art training centre. Thank you to the many local trades who have worked on the property. With a focus on sustainability, we have a huge recycling shed, water tanks and grow our own produce. ... The property houses the administration teams for all of the businesses who support The Real Group, including - Coal Train, Undamine, iTrain, The Rocks, CQ Trades & Services, TRG Tyre & Mechanical, The Keppel Barge, Hooked Fishing Charters, Jet Dry Cleaners and The Sisters.
05.01.2022 As part of lifting the lid on mental health month, Kerrin & Christain invited us all to come to work with a crazy hat, tiara or crown. The challenge is when someone asks why you have a hat on in the office space you make them aware of mental health month and the benefits of speaking to a colleague/friend/professional. We’ve had lots of fun as well as some important conversations this week and hope to continue to do so. Thank you to our guests and thank you to Kerry, Kerrin and Christain.
02.01.2022 Congratulations to the Yeppoon Lions Tropical Pinefest committee on making sure PINEFEST went ahead this year, it’s a wonderful event that raises thousands of dollars every year for charitable causes. Thank you to our little pride of Lions! 1500 cars drove past between 5-7pm and we had lots of fun.
