19.01.2022 Have you ever been involved with a startup that failed? We have. And its not a fun process. Frankly speaking, failure sucks! The harsh reality however is that a large proportion of startups will fail in the first few years, so its a topic we must not hide from. And as much as failure takes a toll on our bank accounts, ego and drive, there is a silver lining hidden amongst it all. Failure is a great teacher and as such this is our advice: embrace failure; use it as your fuel to sharpen your skills , learning from your past mistakes and successes to better prepare you for future ventures. In reality there isnt much we can do to affect the market fluctuations, so our recommendation to business owners affected by rate changes is to plan ahead with a buffer built in to your forecasting: both your financial and your inventory requirements forecasts. Its also interesting to hear the latest NAB survey points to a depressed business confidence despite the attempts by the rba to keep interest rates low. 02.01.2022 This is so true - Thanks Hayley for sharing this with us. I agree, failure should be embraced and not shunned. I know over the past 15 years of being in business Ive made more mistakes than I can remember, but with that I have ended up developing and honing my skills to the point where the mistakes are now fewer and usually have less of a consequence than previously. So to those that fail, here is my message: Get Up. Shake it off. Review where you went wrong. Acknowledge what you should have done. Learn from it. MOVE ON. The worst thing you can do is hide your mistakes under the carpet and beat yourself up over them!
