25.01.2022 Hazel is the first of our current beauties in care to step up for adoption! She has some special needs to consider, so please read her profile carefully before sending us a message or email. Please feel free to share!

24.01.2022 Sweet Sally is still waiting for her perfect forever home to roll on in to town! Please share and if you or someone you know meet the criteria for her adoption, just drop us an email at [email protected] to start the conversation.

21.01.2022 The meet and greets have begun!! Hazel had a lovely first meet and greet today! We were so proud of her and are very excited to meet again! We’ll try and remember to take some photos next time! Jimmy has his first meet and greet on Saturday! Hoping he can be very brave, but we’ll work with whatever comes our way!

21.01.2022 Yesterday I took Hazel to her new home. It was a particularly difficult rehoming for me... we have had Hazel in care for just over a year building her up, adjusting her meds, learning about the world, setting her up for success... her first attempt at rehoming, prior to her coming here, didn’t go well, and that plays on my mind constantly... However, there really is no way to explain the difference between the dog that arrived here and the dog I placed in her new home yesterday. At her best, Hazel is bright, funny, playful and a people pleaser, but she requires an incredibly patient person to find that dog inside. I look forward to hearing about her progress and I am, of course, ever so proud of Miss Hazel. As with all our dogs, Hazel’s Mum will get all the support she wants/needs in her learning with Hazel.

21.01.2022 Things have been a bit quiet here at REAL Rescue headquarters... not in the day to day sense, but certainly in the adoption sense with all the Covid19 goings on. One of the difficulties with special needs animals is that there is no such thing as a quick adoption... it requires travel and commitment to the process for us and the interested party, so things have been on hold for a little while... All the kids have enjoyed the down time, and really, hanging at home with no surprises is their favourite thing, but it’s time to start looking for some forever homes so stay tuned!

16.01.2022 It seems that sweet Sally has been overlooked... available for adoption with the same needs as Jimmy and Hazel, yet not one suitable application has been received... so we thought we might help you get to know her better! Here’s a video of her playing with a visiting pup we took recently.

13.01.2022 The gorgeous Jimmy left for his new home yesterday with his wonderful new family. They’ve worked really hard getting to know Jimmy with us... One of the best things about taking the meet and greet process so slowly with our more anxious dogs, is it gives us plenty of opportunity to talk about possible outcomes for our dogs in their new home. Without fail, our puppers always exceed our expectations, but it’s still always a tough first few weeks. Being able to support our adopters is very important to us. We understand that welcoming an anxious dog into your home can cause people who want the best for them to feel a bit anxious too, so outside support is a really important step to success and we LOVE seeing all our dogs AND people succeed!!

12.01.2022 Look at Miss Hazel now!! She’s looking so much more relaxed in her new home. She’s loving her big brother Bear and we’ve had lots of gorgeous updates about the small steps she is taking towards joy with her new Mum. How lucky we are to find such wonderful patient homes for our beautiful dogs.

11.01.2022 We just received a delicious box FULL of goodies for our doggos donated by our wonderful friends at The Positive Pet Project! Brooke and Caedmon have been supporting us since the dawn of time with encouragement for us and behavioral support for our animals (cause it’s always important to share thoughts!) and our adopters in QLD as well as a bit of foster care too for some of our more complex fur kids! If you think your fur kids may need some help with life and you live in Qld, you NEED to look these guys up! Our kindred spirits in life and animal love!

10.01.2022 We’re always keen to learn more about studies that help us understand and advance our relationships with our animals!

09.01.2022 Finally we have Sally. Sally also has some specific requirements. She's not your typical Golden Retriever, so please read the poster carefully before sending an enquiry. :-)

08.01.2022 Our next dog available at the moment is Jimmy. Jimmy is looking for a quiet adult home with a female primary carer. It's going to take a little while for Jimmy to warm up, so time and patience are key and not a home where there are high social expectations. :-)

08.01.2022 So, it’s fair to say that we have been busy busy!! After several meet and greets, tomorrow Hazel will move to her new home! We’re so excited for her even though we know it will be a difficult transition. Of course we will be providing PLENTY of support to Hazel and her new Mum. Today, we took little Jimmy to visit his new home to be! He’s had a few meets at the farm which have been lovely, so it was time to see what it looked like in the home to be environment! It was a hard day for this little guy for sure, but to say I’m proud is an understatement!

06.01.2022 ... And while we’re sharing updates, check out little Posie (previously Poppy) living her adsolute best life!!

04.01.2022 Sometimes taking photos of the puppers just doesn’t work out the way we meant it to...
