25.01.2022 Did you know that Taekwon Do was created in isolation? During the Japanese occupation of Korea, General Choi Hong Hi (pictured below) organised an independence movement known as ‘The Korean Student Soldier’s Incident,’ an offence for which he was charged with treason and made a political prisoner. He was suddenly stripped of his freedom and limited to the confines of a cell, but instead of succumbing to depression and contemplating his imminent execution, he used the time to ...refine the techniques of Taek-Kyon and Karate, forming the art we now know and practice today. Of course, our current circumstances are nothing like the horrific reality of actual imprisonment, but General Choi’s indomitable spirit is something that every Taekwon Do student should strive to emulate during their own period of isolation. We must remember that REAL martial artists don’t make excuses. Our standard is not dependent on having a partner to train with, favourable weather, or access to training halls and expensive equipment. We recognise that this period of isolation, as frustrating as it can be, is the perfect opportunity to grow and improve if we only will it. Use this time wisely train hard.

25.01.2022 Hello everyone, I hope you’re all well and adjusting to the new restrictions that have just come into effect. In accordance with last night’s announcement, I’m obliged to confirm that all Real Taekwon Do classes are now closed until further notice. It’s unfortunate and frustrating, but absolutely necessary given the current circumstances. My main concerns right now are the physical and mental effects that our new-found isolation could potentially have on us. It’s imperativ...e that we manage our health and emotions during this time, and as such, I urge you all to continue training at home. Even a small area is sufficient to stretch and practice your patterns and techniques. Doing so will obviously help maintain your physical health, but more importantly it will keep your mind engaged which will combat potential frustration and depression. As discussed in class, I’ll be in touch with regular updates as the pandemic progresses, and please feel free to touch base anytime. Be sure to stay healthy and positive through this situation and it’s my sincere hope that our nation can bring the spread of COVID-19 under control sooner rather than later.

23.01.2022 Yet another of our talented juniors demonstrating some aerial kicks at Kearns. Superior skills are the hallmark of a superior attitude!

23.01.2022 A Happy New Year to all our students and their families. May 2021 deliver a year of good health and prosperity for each of you, and I look forward to seeing everyone again in the coming weeks. Take care.

22.01.2022 I'd like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas for 2020 and all the very best for the holiday season. I hope you're all enjoying the time off with your families and indulging in a well-earned break. Take care.

21.01.2022 REAL Taekwon Do students understand that strong technique begins by forging a strong mind.

20.01.2022 The 6 gradings that were held this week are perhaps our most significant to date. Each of the students that were successfully promoted have proven that in spite of all the setbacks 2020 has thrown at us, it's still possible to drive self-improvement and achieve your goals. All it takes is a firm resolve and a refusal to make excuses; qualities that these young martial artists embody with a passion. Congratulations to all our students on their exceptional performances this week. A triumphant conclusion to a difficult year.

17.01.2022 As 2020 draws to a close, I just wanted to share a quick compilation of some of our proudest moments this year! A huge thank you is owed to all the parents that overcame every inconvenience borne of the pandemic to keep their children focussed and training this year; to our senior team for all your support and assistance behind the scenes; and of course to all our students who put their indomitable spirit to the test and made 2020 a year of success.

17.01.2022 Looking forward to another dynamic session of Taekwon Do at Prestons this afternoon! Beginners: 1:15pm to 2:15pm Advanced: 2:30pm to 4:00pm

17.01.2022 Looking forward to another dose of intense training at Prestons this evening! No better way to spend a Thursday night. Beginners: 6:00pm to 7:00pm Advanced: 7:00pm to 8:00pm

17.01.2022 Superior fitness should be expected of black belts. 2 finger push-ups are not for the faint-hearted.

16.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone. May 2020 mark a year of good health, prosperity and success for each of you. I can't wait to catch up with you all in the coming weeks. Take care.

16.01.2022 Instructor Diego demonstrating that your focus and commitment as a REAL martial artist must not falter during this period of isolation.

09.01.2022 Just like everyone, I'm really missing access to the world outside right now. But the simple truth is that doing push ups in my bedroom is as beneficial as doing them on a sun-kissed beach in the Mediterranean, and practising my patterns in the backyard is just as enriching as performing them on a snow-capped mountain top in the Arctic Circle. That's one of the amazing things about Taekwon Do... it can't be quarantined. Close your eyes, train hard, and let it transcend you beyond these trying times.

08.01.2022 Just a quick montage of some of our academy's proudest moments to date. Thank you for everyone's kind words of support in recent days. I hope you're all keeping healthy and positive through this disruptive period, and please relay my warmest regards to your families. We'll all be through this soon enough.

07.01.2022 A few pictures taken during our recent trip to Hakone, Japan. Despite being the middle of winter there, we had the good fortune of striking a clear day before the ever-stunning Mt Fuji. Without a doubt, the most inspiring start to a new year I've ever had.
