23.01.2022 Hi All, We are looking for young, enthusiastic thespians to join our 2020 production. Late last year Reamus Youth Theatre chose Shakespeares Twelfth Night for our 2020 production. ... We started the year with a series of workshops and were working towards auditions. Unfortunately the week before our scheduled auditions the theatre had to close due to Covid-19 restrictions. After some debate Reamus members made the decision to continue working on the show via an online format, without knowing exactly when a performance would take place. So far we have held auditions, had a cast read through of the play and have just begun rehearsals. We currently have several roles that we still need to fill and are looking for people in the Reamus age category of 16 25 years to join us in this adventure. Rehearsals currently take place online on Monday evenings from 7pm and once we are able to gather again in person at the theatre we will also hold rehearsals on Sundays at various times. The date for performance is currently uncertain, but we do have other options for a video production or minimally a recorded audio performance of the play. As lockdown restrictions are eased, we will have a clearer idea of what our performance options will be. So if you are looking for a creative outlet in this time of isolation, please get in touch with us! Twelfth Night is a comedy of mistaken identity centring around two twins, one male and one female. The female twin, Viola, dresses as a man and is employed in the service of a lovesick duke, who asks her/him to woo the beloved Olivia in his place. Chaos ensues, and Viola is eventually trapped in a web of emotions, egos and expectations. The play does a good job of deconstructing how we deal with desire, and shows the difficulty of fighting your own identity. If you would like more information, please get in touch with Alex Simpson via email [email protected] or via phone 0458 301 854, or you can send a PM to our page.

16.01.2022 On Monday Nov 30th we will be resuming our regular, weekly Reamus workshops from 7 - 9:30pm at Maitland Repertory Theatre. These are free workshops open to the 16 - 25 year old age group. In 2021 we will be changing things up a little, our show will be in May (not August) and we won't be ...performing our traditional Shakespeare show. While we are still waiting on confirmation of rights for the show we have chosen, we can say that it is set in New York city in the Great Depression of the 1930s. So our first several weeks of workshops will take a look at some of the background setting of the play. We will touch of the history of the Great Depression, the Group Theatre, New York accents and more. If you, or someone you know, is in the age group of 16 - 25 and is looking to get involved in theatre, now is the time to come along & check out what Reamus Youth Theatre is up to.
