22.01.2022 For those affected by the lockdown due to the Covid19 Pandemic. Federal Assistance for sole traders with no staff: STEP BY STEP GUIDE:... If you are going to try and claim the Job Seeker payment (formerly Newstart) 1. You can claim if you are earning less than $1075.00 a fortnight. 2. It is income tested, so your partners wage WILL be taken into account. 3. It is NOT asset tested. 4.You will need a CRN (CUSTOMER REFERENCE NUMBER) first from centerlink. At the moment the only way to get one of these, if you have never dealt with CentreLink before, is to go to an office. You will need 3 forms of ID. So a passport, drivers licence and a bank statement or ATM card. More info in the link below. However, they are saying that they are trying to get the option to apply online up and running very soon and not to go into an office. You can lodge an INTENT TO CLAIM online and it will be backdated to yesterday. 5. Once you have the CRN, you go to your MyGov account online and link it with centerlink. 6. once the above is done, you can apply for Job Seeker via MyGov. Note that payments for this are not starting until 27th April, so take this into account when budgeting etc for the next month. https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au//confirm-your-/29166

20.01.2022 The 2006 amendments to the Family Law Act were a step taken by the government of the day to address the growing groundswell of concern by, predominantly fathers, over the apparent gender bias in cases involving decisions about where children should live and with whom they should spend time. The introduction of section 60CC of the Act and other amendments sought to address the perception that the default position when a contested issue about where a child should live and with ...whom the child should spend time was that one parent, typically the mother, would have the child or children live primarily with her and the other parent, typically the father, would have the children spend time with him on an alternate weekend and half school holidays basis or on terms even less favourable than that. The amendments required the Court to start from a presumption of equal shared parenting of the child or children unless there were factors militating against such a regime such as the tyranny of distance, domestic violence or other factors. The primary consideration, however, is and always has been that the Court should make orders in the best interests of the children. To read more see my latest article on the Mahoneys website.

14.01.2022 The "Yes" campaign has won - now what? The Same Sex Marriage postal survey has been conducted and the results tallied. The "Yes" campaign has emerged the winner with a nationwide response of 61.6% "Yes" to 38.4% "No" with a 79.5% particiaption rate. 13.01.2022 Quick tip: when writing the date in 2020 on cheques, documents or forms be sure to write the full four digits for the year rather than the last two digits of the year. The reason for this is that if you only write the last two digits then anyone who was so motivated could add whatever digits they want to post date or pre date the document which may have unintended legal consequences. #2020 #HNY #HappyNewYear #QuickTip

08.01.2022 The period between Melbourne Cup Day and St Patrick's Day is frequently referred to by Law Enforcement and Emergency First Responders north of the Tweed as Mango Madness season. It is a time marked by a noticable spike in the Domestic Violence and crime rate in crimes involving personal violence. Perhaps it's due to the volatile mix of alcohol, heat, humidity, family and financial pressure during this period that people snap. So this holiday season be cool, stay cool and save yourself and your family a whole lot of grief by being aware of the added factors at play and take yourself away from situations which have the potential to escalate.

02.01.2022 Another excellent Worrells Breakfast Seminar.
