22.01.2022 Lemon Turmeric Bliss Balls Joe has been obsessed about getting more turmeric Into our meals. Each week I set him up with bliss balls for a snack. I thought why not try a little turmeric in the lemon bliss balls. They are practically the same colour and it will be a great combination of zest and anti-inflammatory properties. But we know it’s the taste test that counts the most. ... The fact that Joseph gobbled them all up not even releasing there was turmeric inside says to me these are a hit. Ingredients * 12 Medjool dates * 1 cup rolled oats gluten free * cup almonds * 1 tablespoon chia seeds * 4 tablespoons lemon juice * 1 teaspoon lemon zest * 1 teaspoon vanilla extract * 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder * cup shredded coconut for dusting Instructions * Remove the pits from dates and soak them in hot water for several minutes. When the dates are softened, drain them and place in food processor. Save the water. * Add the other ingredients to a food processor and blend until mixture turns into a dough-like consistency. Add 1 tablespoon of water in which you have soaked the dates if the mixture is too dry. * With the small spoon scoop the mixture and roll into balls. Roll the balls in shredded coconut and place on the baking sheet. * Store energy balls in an airtight container in the refrigerator until serving. Do you love snacking on bliss balls? 21.01.2022 Gluten Free Chapati I feel in love with eating chapati in India. Not only do we make these when cooking Indian dahls, we also make them on our Mexican evenings (as our tortilla). We find there are a lot less nasty preservatives and additives when making them yourself. Ingredients (Makes 8)... 1/2 cup of coconut flour 1 cup of arrowroot starch 2 tsp apple cider vinegar 1 cup full-fat coconut milk (or almond milk) 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 1/2 tbsp coconut oil Method 1. In bowl mix together coconut flour, arrowroot starch, milk, vinegar, and salt util combined well. Let sit for 15 minutes 2. In a small fry pan, heat the coconut oil. Once hot, spot 1/4 cup of the batter into the pan, use back of the spoon to spread into a circe. 3. Cook for 3-4 minutes, until bubbles begin to appear on the surface and the edges begin to brown. Flip and cook for another 2-3 minutes 4. Repeat with remaining batter. Transfer the chapati to a plate lined with paper towel. These are best eaten fresh straight of the pan. Cardamom is considered an excellent digestive in reducing bloating and intestinal gas. It is also useful for pacifying Vata, for balancing Kapha and all three doshas. The seeds are often chewed to refresh the breath. Cardamom tastes best freshly powdered. It is used extensively in desserts especially in India and the middle east. 17.01.2022 Go Go Green Pasta This is an express meal in our household for those days that we find ourselves time poor. It can be whipped up with little effort and tastes so good! Ingredients... Pasta of your choice 2 tablespoons of sunflower seeds A handful of spinach For Sauce 1 ripe avocado 50g cashews 25g chives (or parsley) 2 roasted garlic cloves Juice of 1 lime (or half lemon works too) 8 tablespoons of almond milk Pinch of salt Method 1. Place all sauce ingredients into a blender and pulse until smooth 2. Cook the pasta according to instructions on the pack. Once cooked drain and place back in pan. 3. Mix through the sauce and add sunflower seeds before cooking over the heat for a few more minutes to warm through. 4. Ingredients... 1 large fresh beetroot peeled and chopped 1 Tbsp apple cider vinegar 2 Tbsp cold pressed extra virgin olive oil 2 tsp Caraway seeds 3/4 tsp sea salt flakes 1 cup cashews Method Blend all of the ingredients together to form a creamy consistency. 15.01.2022 A contemplation in yoga this week has been Attachment vs Commitment Buddha voiced ‘attachment is the quickest road to suffering’ In a world where there is so much suffering, the question of are you attached maybe worth an exploration! ... So what’s the difference between attachment and commitment : Attachment has a strong sense of need, expectation, must, hustle, demand, wanting it to be a certain way, it’s very external focused and liner. The energy can be limiting and fear based. Commitment is the latter, being a creator, using challenge as opportunity, inspiration, feeling of enough for all, desire, focusing intrinsically. This energy is a higher frequency of joy/love. Given everything that’s happening in the world right now ask yourself: 1. Are you attached to things being a certain way? If so, is that bringing you a sense of disease and suffering? Or 2. Are you committed to being the best version of yourself? If so, what inspired action are you taking daily? When we show up to the yoga mat, we are practicing commitment for our life. It’s a mind- body practice moving us from limited thinking to a space of higher connection to source, divine, God or as science calls it unified field. This is where we feel pure love and oneness. When we access this frequently, we can be this in our life. A famous quote by Mahatma Gandhi is, Be the change you want to see in the world. Who are you going to be?

15.01.2022 Hazelnut and Maple Fudge A sweet treat. These are a deliciously gooey snack. I personally enjoy having a piece with a cup of tea on hand. Ingredients ... 5 tablespoons of Maple Syrup 4 tablespoons of peanut butter 2 tablespoons of coconut oil 15 large pitted Medjool dates Pinch of salt 100g hazel nuts (or nut of choice) Method 1. Place pitted dates in a powerful food processor and blend into a paste 2. Add the remaining ingredients except for the hazelnuts and pulse again until you get a smooth, thick paste. 3. Line a loaf tin with cling wrap and pour in the mixture. Sprinkle over the hazelnuts, pressing them down slightly to ensure they go in the fudge. Leave to set in the fridge for at least 1 hour. Once set enjoy!! Let me know what you think of this delicious gooey snack!

13.01.2022 YOGA AHIMSA! Throughout my yoga classes this week I‘ve been focusing on the core teaching of Ahimsa. This is the first teaching in an interwoven yoga curriculum, when you translate Ahimsa from sanskrit to english it means non-violence or non-harm. We can take this in many forms, we can take it simply by the physical (as in only taking postures that feel good for your body and that are non harmful to you). But we can also go deeper and take it another step further in... not being harmful to your mind, not telling yourself nasty thoughts. Are you being kind and compassionate to yourself or are you harming yourself with what you think you should be doing, for example saying to yourself that I should lose that weight, I look terrible today or I can’t do it like her. What are you telling yourself that is not serving you and is harmful? We can all learn from this teaching of Ahimsa moving it from the yoga mat to our everyday life. This is the dance of a yoga practice, connecting it to every present moment. Today, I invite you to practice Ahimsa, show yourself non harm. Be kind, loving and compassionate. Here is a four step process that I like to use: 1: Be aware of your thoughts 2: Ask yourself, would I say that to my best friend? 3: What need isn’t being met and what do I need for myself? 4: Give yourself permission to nurture and create space for what is missing. It can be exhausting trying to do it all, wearing multiple hats and then not serving yourself. However, when you get present to showing up for yourself, not only do you feel in alignment the ripple magic is it flows to those you love and serve. Where can you show yourself more love and kindness?

11.01.2022 Distant Reiki Most people are very skeptical of distant Reiki and I was the same until I experienced it for myself. I mean, how can someone in another room, city or even another country experience healing from a Reiki therapist in a different place? But then again how can they not?... Reiki is natural healing energy that works on every level, not just the physical level and this is where we have trouble understanding how a Reiki distance session works. If we look at most services in our physical life, everything has to be done in person. If you need a haircut, a massage, dental work, pedicure or blood test, it cannot be done by distance. It has to be done in person. There has to be a physical connection made with your body and that is where Reiki is different..... Reiki is non-invasive and is used holistically to restore balance in mind, body and spirit while promoting the body's regenerative self-healing ability. Its healing energy connects us on an energetic and spiritual level where the healing work is conducted. To understand this, we must first realise that we are more than our physical bodies. Our thoughts, emotions, feelings, ideas, perspectives and moral beliefs all exist within us but they are not part of our physical bodies. They are energies that can affect our physical bodies but they are not physical elements. Our soul also forms part of who we are and it is definitely not a physical element. Reiki energy connects with us through spiritual and energetic levels using the intention of the practitioner to send healing energy and the intention of the client to receive healing. Distant Reiki sessions work because energy is not limited by distance. Distance is a physical limitation only. Think about it......We accept other energy frequencies that we cannot see, such as electricity, radios, mobile phones and wi-fi. Initially, these frequencies were thought to be be a fantasy too, but now they are accepted as normal functioning services. In order for them to work, they have to be tuned in and Distant Reiki works the same way. The Reiki practitioner acts as a conduit and tunes the healing energy to the person it is being sent to and then it flows through the energy currents that exist naturally. Just as distance is not an obstacle for mobile phones, radio signals or the internet, it is not an obstacle for Reiki. Personally, the only way to truly know if Distant Reiki really works is to try it for yourself. 10.01.2022 TOO HARD Have you ever said that something in life is too hard? I remember a time when I was living in Singapore where I looked across the yoga room at people performing the headstand posture and thinking I’ll never be able to do that, is it even yoga... The ironyYoga at this time was teaching me another profound lesson. To watch that monkey mind judging and jumping around, where thoughts can run wild leaving you trapped in believing the story as truth. As I drew my attention back to my mat and the awareness of my breathe I reframed the thought - I can not do it YET Whilst this pose does not feature regularly in my daily yoga practice. Headstand is known as the ‘King of asana’ family. It’s known for influencing perspective and conquering fear. Anyone who has ever practised yoga knows the ‘mat’ is a metaphor for life.
