I LOVE what I do, I LOVE seeing my clients each day, LOVE seeing their progression and I LOVE being able to help them on their wellness journey. My end goal is to help you reach your goal- whether it be a goal to touch your toes, relieve pain in your neck, shoulders or back, no longer feel pins and needles down your arm, improve your endurance for sporting events or healing after an injury, your goal becomes mine. 15.01.2022 RELAXATION VS REMEDIAL- what is the difference in massage? Short version? Relaxation/Swedish is a massage to help promote a state of relaxation. Remedial is help fix physical pain caused by injury, poor posture and biomechanics.... Long Version? lets break it down into a little more depth. The simplest way I explain the difference between the 2 is a Remedial Massage is for the physical pain a person may have. This can be a result from an injury, working habits i.e. Athletes, sitting in front of a computer for long periods of time, laboring work, or even chronic pain. The aim of a remedial massage is to help identify the cause of the pain and work towards resolving the issue. This resolve will take time, it is not a 1 session fix. Yes, you may feel relief after 1 session however it can take a little longer to get you back to 100%. The first session will usually involve the therapist (Me) taking a detailed observation of the client (You), asking the client a series of questions to help paint a picture of what the client’s usual day/week consists of and if these activities could also be contributing to the client’s pain. It can also involve the therapist using special tests to evaluate how the body is restricted during movement and what the body is doing to compensate for the restriction. Treatment usually involves a variety of different techniques such as Muscle energy techniques (MET), myofascial release techniques (MFR), trigger point therapy (TrP), Dry needling, and deep tissue treatment which can result in some pain and discomfort, however it is all to help the client correct their Biomechanics. Relaxation Massage is just as it is described. It is a form of soothing and comforting massage. While Remedial is for the physical affects of pain, Swedish/Relaxation is to help the mental and physical effects of stress. It is the perfect treatment for those looking to relax and unwind from daily stress. Using techniques such as Effleurage, Petrissage, friction and tapotement to help decrease stress, muscle tightness and tension. A relaxation massage can also improve blood circulation, help release positive hormones such as dopamine and endorphins which in turn helps lift your mood. 01.01.2022 What’s new in clinic? RockPods! What are RockPods? You may ask- Well RockPods were designed by the Movement company RockTape. These silicone cups are used during cupping and what I LOVE about the RockPods are the internal (and external) glide capability. What this means is that the client is able to be active in their treatment. Internal glide meaning you, the client, is actively moving and engaging the target muscle while the pods are on doing their bit. This can be with o...r without my assistance.
