22.01.2022 This isn’t going to be a post where I list all the reasons why you should or should not have breakfast. I know we have all herd it before breakfast is the most important meal of the day But is it really? There are many non-breakfast eaters out there. People who simply are not hungry when they wake up or people who practice intermittent fasting or time restricted feeding. This is perfectly fine to do if it aligns with your lifestyle. But for others, breakfast is needed to ...give their body an energy boost for the day. Having breakfast can also effectively reduce afternoon cravings and snacking. There are times where I suggest to my clients, they should eat breakfast and times where I go along with their own eating habits of not. It's about experimenting but ultimately, it’s about listening to your body. Let you hunger and energy levels guide you and remember, what works one day might not work the next

16.01.2022 Energy levels fluctuate, there is not escaping that. There could be a mountain of reasons as to why and I would be here forever listing them if I did. Instead here’s 4. 1. You are over training. Allowing your body to recover is just as important as it is to keep it moving. Attempt to schedule in recovery or active rest days, where you either do not train or you opt for something low impact such as walking, yoga, or swimming. 2. You are sleeping poorly. This is a no brainer ...here. Not enough sleep leads to fatigue, decreased strength and stamina, and depression symptoms. 3. You are dehydrated. A sign of dehydration can be fatigue, you should be aiming to have 500 mls of water per every 15kg of body weight, daily. So, your weight divided by 15 then times by 500. 4. You are eating too little. Eating too few calories can slow down your metabolic rate causing fatigue. In addition, you need to be eating enough to fuel the physical demands of your body and if you are very active, you need to be eating enough to support that activity.

09.01.2022 And that’s it.. my workday has finished which means the extra long weekend can start. Happy Easter to all! Remember to relax, stay safe and thoroughly enjoy the next couple of days.

03.01.2022 As women our micronutrient needs differ to that of men, for example. Just being a woman puts us at higher risk of developing Osteoporosis, this is where our bones become thin, weak and fragile. From the age of 30 our bone density starts to decrease so our need for Calcium and Vitamin D is greater than that of men for us to maintain bone strength and structure In addition to improved cardiovascular health, Omega 3s are also beneficial for the expecting Mumma’s in pregnancy to support brain growth and development of their infant And of course, let’s not forget Zinc for healthy skin, hair and nails.

02.01.2022 Bloating is something that I struggle with all the time. It is normal to bloat and rarely a sign of something more serious, but non the less, it can be bloody uncomfortable. Bloating is typically caused by the inability to properly digest foods and/or over fermentation. High sugar or ultra-processed carbs, dairy, grains, some meats can all lead to bloating. Then other mealtime behaviors such as overeating, rushing when eating or not properly chewing your food can also contrib...ute to bloating. But there are some things we can do to try a relieve or minimize that bloated gassy feeling. Eat foods that can aid in digestion Cucumber is 95% water. Eating foods with a high-water content ensure that you remain hydrated and reduce the risk of water retention, related to dehydration. Bananas contain amylase which aid in carbohydrate digestion. Papaya contains papain, an enzyme which helps your body break down amino acids. Asparagus contains a prebiotic fiber known as inulin, which may support gut health. Yoghurt is packed full of probiotics that are beneficial to gut health. Teas are also useful in reducing bloating.
