25.01.2022 I am beyond happy to share with you the results of my Nuffield Scholarship research and travel from the last few years. Words cannot express how amazing this experience was and what my business gained from the learnings! Thank you to Nuffield Australia and The Yulgilbar Foundation. ... However a big thank you to all my family and friends that made this experience possible.

25.01.2022 Nuffield continues to open doors to new experiences. This week, I am one of a group of International Nuffield Scholars attending the United Nations Committee on World Food Security Meeting #CFS46 in Rome. I may feel like a fish out of water, however our farms are influenced by the discussions that occur at this level. #nuffieldag #AgriFoodNet

23.01.2022 A great opportunity to discover what the latest genetics research has to offer your business profitability and herd progress. Tuesday 31st March 2020. Cloncurry, QLD. Australia.

23.01.2022 Allflex Tissue Sample Units (TSU) make DNA testing a breeze. Here’s some top tips from the #greenteam to make it even simpler: make sure the cutters sitting f...lush against the applicator Always record the TSU & Animal ID once collected, make sure the sample is sitting in the buffer. Lightly tap the base of the TSU on a solid surface if required store them in a cool dry place - no one needs a tissue sample that was sitting in your Ute in summer call your Neogen or Allflex territory managers with any questions See more

16.01.2022 After my epic USA Mid West Road Trip, I flew into Orlando, Florida, USA to focus on tropically adapted cattle and a few research projects. Another Nissan 'Rouge' hire car and not so many kms this time! Many thanks to everyone in Florida for your hospitality! I visited many researchers at the University Of Florida, Gainesville, the University of Florida Beef Training Farm, Kempfer Cattle Company and Deseret Ranches.....and on my way to Tampa International Airport to fly out to Brazil, I may have dropped in quickly to see a friend (local Mackay legend, Ashleigh Kate Stebbings and many times Female World Barefoot Champion!!) at the World Barefoot Centre, Winterhaven! #nuffieldag

16.01.2022 In the last few weeks, I have road tripped QLD and NSW, visiting a variety of locations including performance recorded bull sales/operations, University of New England, NCMC Casino, #Neogen Australasia to mention a few. Thank you to my Nuffield Sponsor #Yulgilbar, for making this learning experience a reality. Rob and Lorraine for having me at Yulgilbar and it was a delight to also meet Samantha Bailieu at the Exhibition.... and of course to everyone else that opened their doors for me. Thank you. It was tough to see Northern NSW still in the grips of such dry weather. Rain will be a welcome sight for so many, sooner rather than later I hope.

15.01.2022 Thank you very much to the entire Rissington Cattle Family in New Zealand for sharing your time and knowledge. #nuffieldag

15.01.2022 ‘’Jambo’ Kenya!! If you are confused, yes I am home, (weaning and preg testing time) and I am posting in retrospect..... just too good not to share. Kenya was my last stop on my NUFFIELD Global Focus Program. I spent from the 13 April to the 26th April with the Nuffield Group. I then did an extra week of individual travel, to visit specific cattle operations to assist my study. ... So, now some quick Kenyan facts ...... 40mill pop (4mill live in Nairobi) Av age is 18years Only 2% Kenyans have debt!! The general trend is building as they can afford it . So we saw several half finished houses. 70% trade occurs roadside as part of a grey economy...... hence my first Kenyan update, this is what you experience when driving in Kenya! Everything you can imagine is being sold on the roadside.

14.01.2022 Our last night was spent taking in the panoramic views of the Doha city skyline from a restaurant in the Souq Waqif. It was a fitting end to a fabulous experience. Qatar certainly stretched my mind as to what is possible in agriculture. Farewell to Qatar , and next stop Kenya !! #nuffieldag PS I am home and mustering in Australia again, so the posts are a little delayed... just in case you were getting confused!

13.01.2022 I attended the Triennial NBRUC, North Australian Beef Research Update Conference in Brisbane last week. It is always great to listen to the latest research happening in Oz. #nuffieldag

12.01.2022 Hudson’s Hope, British Colombia CANADA www.frontierbison.com. A big thank you to Ventanor Farms for welcoming us to their 35000ac operation. 700 bison and 1800 angus cows are grazed in rotation. 4.5 bales are harvested per cow to get through winter! Depending on the length of the winter approx 8500 bales are required annually! The bales stay in the paddock and are grazed where they are baled. The sisal string doesn't require a human to remove wrapping in -40temps, can mul...ch into the ground after consumption, increase the soil and grass quality and reduces tractor handling and costs. This operation works with nature, encouraging the natural biodiversity and co exists with many other large animals such as grizzly bears, black bears, deer, moose etc etc all year round. We arrived on a late flight and drove to the ranch in the dark.... and saw our first wildlife cross in front of us ....a Mumma bear and 2 cubs!! #nuffieldag

11.01.2022 I was impressed by how Rissington Cattle, Naiper, New Zealand, thoroughly performance record, measure, scan and test the bulls they produce, to deliver the most profitable beef cattle for their clients. This thorough collection of live animal measurements, has provided accurate genetic predictions, delivered as EBVs & $Profit economic indexes and also allows benchmarking of their cattle internationally. Hence, the Rissington Team know more about their cattle quicker, and ca...n multiply their best genetics much faster, producing customised breeding bulls for clients using advanced breeding technologies, such as TVR (trans-vaginal recovery), IVP (in vitro production) and Sexed Semen. #nuffieldag #rissington #geneticgain

10.01.2022 The 'Beefbooster' Composite herd run by the Holtmans, just outside of Taber, Alberta, CANADA, runs 450 breeders on 11000 ac depending on the season, in a rotational grazing system with a 12 inch average rainfall including snow melt! This disciplined crossbreeding system, is based on years of research and it was great to learn from Mr Holtmans years of passion for his craft! https://www.beefbooster.com/ #nuffieldag So many more experiences to post, and Susan a 2019 USA Nuffield Scholar, and I travelled together for 9 days to share costs, so I thought why reinvent the wheel! Thanks Susan!
