21.01.2022 Little raccoon buddies - check comments for a sneaky AR vid.
18.01.2022 Throwback Thursday alll the way back to 2018. ’Orangutan’s Daycare’ - the first artwork I created for the amazing folks at Procreate. This was for the release of Procreate 4.2 which was the update that brought us clipping masks and Quick Shape, arguably the most life-changing update ever (for my process at least!). Before 4.2, I was using a plastic template I’d bought from Officeworks to draw circles and curves, and so much of the layer limit was taken up by masks, that were applied to every single layer. Blessed be the Clipping Mask. Best gift ever.
12.01.2022 I haven’t created anything for Character Design Challenge for a while. June’s theme is Elemental Guardians. My little reverse mermaid water guardian can’t survive out of the water so is carried around inside a frog. I had a moment where I was drawing her that I thought to myself Rebecca you are a grown woman drawing highlights on the shiny butt cheeks of a half-fish inside a frog . ? Rolling with it.
08.01.2022 The Flip Squirrels are liquid. I worked up this unused rough concept in #Procreate. Been dating a new texture brush, and I think we might be getting married. Let me know if you have any food allergies so I can let the caterers know.
04.01.2022 In April we went on a trip to Karijini and it was the most amazing experience. The landscape is spectacular and there is such a huge variety of amazing bugs. These were our favorites, we called them ‘disco crickets’ but their proper name is ‘blistered pyrogomorph’. I’ve included a pic I took of two hanging out. I THOUGHT it was a mum and baby so started illustrating this as a big family but after some research realised that was, um, wrong. The female is three times the size of the male and the little one is her tiny boyfriend that she carries around with her so turns out I’ve accidentally illustrated polyamorous pyrogomorphs. Amazing.
