08.01.2022 Premier League Womens Wrap up Proudly sponsored by C & B Designs MA Olympic travelled to Greenwood Park to take on a Rebels FC Senior Gunners side full of co...nfidence after some recent strong performances. MA Olympic were under the leadership of new coach Nathan Whitton for the first time and was looking to get his tenure off to a flying start. MA Olympic started positively and looked to take control early, attacking in wide areas through their dynamic twins, Paula and Page Malau-Aduli. On the 15minute mark, one such attack saw the Rebels keeper Julie Ann Gordy make a brave save and require treatment from the resulting contact. After recovering she was called on only minutes later when required to tip a shot over the bar to once again deny MA Olympic. The heroics of their keeper seemed to spark Rebels into action and the game started to swing, with Rebels mounting attacks on the Olympic goal, requiring keeper Michelle Sawtell to make some saves of her own. Something had to give and an attacking move down the left after 30 minutes, saw MA Olympics Caitlin Cornish on the end of great cross and find the net with a powerful low shot into the corner of the net. MA Olympic looked to build on their lead and dynamic winger Page Malau-Aduli showed great skill to turn her defender and drill the ball into the net to make it 2nil after 40 minutes and looked to be in control. Rebels recent results havent been achieved by giving up, and they kept pushing to get back into the game. An unlucky bounce of the ball in the MA Olympic penalty area resulted in a penalty, and sharp shooter Monika Anderson made no mistake from the spot, taking the teams into the sheds with MA Olympic enjoying a narrow 2-1 lead. Rebels came out of the sheds with the strong wind at their back and looked put pressure on MA Olympic from the whistle. Rebels looked dangerous playing direct trying to find their leading goal scorer Monika Anderson with the visiting side defense scrambling to hold their lead, and their goal keeper called on to make some good saves. In an exciting second half the momentum swung from side to side, with MA Olympics creating chances to score their third and put Rebels away, but the home side repelled Olympics best efforts. With time all but gone, Rebels earned a corner and a wicked inswinging delivery found the ball in the net, much to the dismay of the Olympics side. With barely time to kick off, Rebels continued to stake their claim as title contenders with a hard fought 2-2 result. Goal Scorers - Rebels Gabrielle Dickinson and Monika Anderson. 05.01.2022 INFO from NQ Football regarding Grand Final Day Hi Clubs, Please note there is 2 Grand Final Start times on October 31 subject to Women’s Premier League End Time. ... We have secured Jade Holland for our Grand Final on October 31. Jade will release her new single on the Thursday and perform it along with the National Anthem and a couple of other songs prior to the main game. www.jadeholland.com This means, the following and the Premier Men’s Teams involved in the Grand Final should take note. If the Women’s Game goes to extra time and penalties the main game will not start until 8.30pm. If the Women’s PL game finishes on time, the main game will commence at 8.15pm.
