20.01.2022 For those who think strength and conditioning in kids/youth is bad, please listen in... The term Long term athlete development, is a process designed at gradually progressing a child’s training as they mature. Like anything we start with the basics and then progress.... Benefits of S&C in kids/youth: motor skill development muscle and bone strength body weight management coordination teamwork Common thoughts which are total BS... my child will get big weight lifting will stunt their growth it’s too expensive Children will not begin to develop muscle mass until they hit puberty (for majority that’s high school) and the type of training they will do won’t isn’t target muscle mass development Weightlifting doesn’t stunt growth. Your child more chance of stunting there growth by jumping out of a tree or playing games and developing poor posture. Strength training will build strong posture and won’t affect their growth plates. So $100 on a new video game is reasonable but a few dollars for a gym session is unjustified. Most S&C gyms will charge reduced fees for children DM us to get your kid involved
