20.01.2022 Clint has always been a bit of a thrill seeker. But since his BMX accident, those opportunities have been rather restricted. At this time on Friday, Clint together with Hilary will be on the rooftop of a 160 meter tall Perth skyscraper waiting for their turn to abseil down. Clint has previously completed the abseil in 2018 and he is doing it again to raise much needed funds for Rebound WA. These funds will be used to support others living with disability live healthier and m...ore active lives. https://www.perthnow.com.au//man-paralysed-waist-down-rebo

20.01.2022 Congrats to our friends Western Australian Powerchair Football Association - WAPFA for being the latest recipients of Nine News Best of the West campaign. The $5000 they receive will be used to help further develop their program. If only someone would nominate us.... anyone? #shamelessplug

19.01.2022 Jayde was recently at Fiona Stanley Hospital for Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week. He had a chat with a number of spinal cord injury patients. Jayde shared with them the range of activities they may be able to pursue once they have been discharged from hospital, and also how being active in sports helped his mental well being. Jayde is an all around great guy and is willing to share his knowledge, and guide our new members along. He relishes the community that he has found here, and extends the same warm welcome to everyone.

18.01.2022 First group of the day are up on the roof. Hilary getting strapped up for the final ascent.

18.01.2022 Rebound WA member Emily Prior, who has cerebral palsy, is determined to prove disabled bodies could be included in advertising, fashion and the film and television world. "I want other children to be able to grow up and see positive images of disabled people doing everyday things and see themselves being represented. I wanted to show how disability can be included." "I want everyone to feel like they belong and they can be proud of their disability and who they are, just like I am."

17.01.2022 Only 3 sleeps to go until the Live your Potential Expo 2020. The only NDIS event this year that isn't virtual. Best part is, it's FREE! Participants have the chance to meet over 70+ providers in the disability sector. This event is for absolutely anyone and everyone in the disability/ health sector. Whether you have an NDIS plan, need help navigating the NDIS, are a carer, support worker, allied health professional, parent or participant, there will be lots of useful informat...ion and fun activities on the day. And thanks to Surgical House and NDSP Plan Managers, proceeds from the day will be donated to Rebound WA and Hannah's House.

17.01.2022 Final ascent to the rooftop.

17.01.2022 How's your Friday going? These legends have just tackled a 160m abseil in the middle of the Perth CBD. The both of them held their nerves and never lost their sense of humour though it all. It was rather warm up there, but for views like these, well worth braving the heat for.

16.01.2022 The first athletes selected to the Australian Paralympic Team for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics Games has just been announced. A huge congrats to all the athletes selected especially Rebound WA members Madison de Rozario, Rhiannon Clarke, and Sarah Edmiston. This will be the first Paralympic Games for young member Rhiannon Clarke. She regularly gives back to our community and inspires our other young members to pursue their dreams. we are extremely happy that her hard work is paying off.

16.01.2022 Our friend Bec Evans from Western Australian Powerchair Football Association - WAPFA needs your help with votes as well. If she is successful, WAPFA will be able to use the $10,000 grant to assist in purchasing a Strikeforce (or a specialised sports power wheelchair) to build their league and introduce new players to the sport. At a time when their player base has been decimated, this could not have come at a better time. Having a spare Strikeforce will enable the WA powerch...air football league to grow and provide even more opportunities for new players. Bec has been nominated by Westfield Innaloo, while our very own Jayde is nominated by Westfield Carousel so they are not in competition with each other. Let's get both these legends over the line. Voting closes 14 September. Vote for Bec: https://www.westfield.com.au//4BJvCIjMU/local-heroes-2020 Vote for Jayde: https://surveys.reputation.com/surveys3/run

15.01.2022 Keep an eye out for this, a new inclusive and accessible cycling track is to be built in Yanchep. The $2 .3 million circuit will be a first for WA as our State currently does not have a safe, dedicated road cycling facility. Representatives from several sporting groups including Rebound WA attended the Wanneroo council meeting on Tuesday, urging councillors to endorse a concept plan for the training and racing track around Splendid Park. Hayden from the Rebound WA office provided numerous letters of support and feedback to ensure that the new track would be inclusive and accessible.

15.01.2022 From the smile on Hilary's face, would you have guessed that this is her first abseil ever? Not once through the entire experience did she loose that smile or her sense of humor. Then again, wouldn't you be stoked be to strapped to a bloke like Kendal?

15.01.2022 "When I got involved with Rebound, I could keep up with my peers, and actually feel like I was contributing and that my participation was worth my time, rather than being delegated as goalie because I couldn’t move along the grass to participate any other way. From being delegated goalie, Natalie is now waiting to find out if she is selected for the 2021 Tokyo Paralympic Games. Thanks Talking Disability for sharing her story and journey.

15.01.2022 Buckle up! It's time to go sideways! The Driftability event is back again this year (26 November) and our members are invited to take part. 15.01.2022 Its official. Jayde is a local hero! A Westfield Local Hero. As voted for by YOU! Jayde is the recipient of the $10,000 prize thanks to all your votes and support for him. So thank you! The prize money will be spent on repairing and maintaining current wheelchair rugby equipment so that the players won't need to share chairs during practice and game night.... In case you missed it the first time, this is his story and why wheelchair rugby means so much to him: Jayde Seed is passionate about giving people with disabilities the chance to keep fit and achieve their full potential, just as he has. Jayde was left with quadriplegia after a football accident but participating in wheelchair rugby helped through the dark times. For 15 years, he has been proudly volunteering for Rebound WA's wheelchair rugby program to raise awareness of the life-changing sport and is now the team captain and coach. He is a regular visitor to people in hospital after suffering a traumatic injury. "Providing hope and support to others who have suffered a traumatic injury like myself is invaluable to their recovery," he says.

15.01.2022 It's been a tough competitive match so far and we'll be here all the way till the end

15.01.2022 Wheelchair rugby exhibition game to wrap up the come and try day. The professionals show us how it's done

15.01.2022 What has toothpaste got to do with Rebound WA? All of us use toothpaste a couple of times a day (hopefully). But did you know, our spinal cord has the consistency of toothpaste? This week is Spinal Cord Injury Awareness week. Together with other organisations, we are trying to raise awareness on the daily lives of people who have a spinal cord injury as well as challenging perceptions of what it means to have a spinal cord injury. Our members with spinal cord injuries continu...e to live active lives and pursue sports and activities they love. Take care, be safe and look after your spine. If you do happen to have a spinal cord injury, there are avenues out there to live an active life again.

10.01.2022 Layne Dixon - Athlete & blogger demonstrating a 'new tennis coaching' term called 'Superman' to explain the feel of pushing the chair with a tennis racquet. Manning Tennis Club have been working hard to further develop their adaptive wheelchair tennis program. It began in December 2019 when Rebound WA were invited down for a come and try day with them. Since then they have added new coaches and have retrofitted the club to ensure that the courts and clubhouse are fully accessible. Some truly amazing work by them and a commitment to bring accessibility and inclusivity into the sport.

09.01.2022 Over the weekend, Clint (Life in my wheelie lane) who is a member and presenter for Rebound WA, was invited as a panelist for a discussion on disability by Chills with SYA (Stirling Youth Advocates) Chills with SYA want to shed light on people that live with disability and the many misconceptions about disability. This was done in the hopes of creating more awareness on the various forms of disability and ways in which the community can be more inclusive. Clint regularly shares his story and promotes inclusion in schools and workplaces.

02.01.2022 Spring is finally here (you'd be forgiven for thinking otherwise if you looked outside your windows)! Keep in mind as well the New Mobile Phone Legislation for WA also begins today. A number of our members have come to us as a result of injuries they sustained from distracted drivers. Making our roads safer is a welcomed measure. There's still lots of confusion around what is and isn't acceptable, so chairman of the Road Safety Council, Iain Cameron, explained it in further detail on Mix 94.5. You can also get more information here: https://www.rsc.wa.gov.au/Rules-Penal/Browse/Mobile-Phones
