24.01.2022 Congratulations and well done to Mark Bennet and so very glad to see this family has been able to return home to have the care and support they need at such a vital time in their lives. Once again the General Aviation community have demonstrated how critical this sector is to the social fabric of Australia.

24.01.2022 Our weekend mystery post was one of our best ever. The response from our fans and readers was incredible and lots of fun. So here is the real story behind the ...pic. Sensitive aviation purists might feel that rules were surely broken, but I can assure you everything done here was legitimate. I received a brief from an advertising agency for a TV commercial that required a very old bush style aircraft, a remote desolate dirt airstrip and ochre coloured mountains in the background. It was easy to find an aircraft but the location didn't exist, so I went about to create one. I drove around Central Australia for a few days and settled on a location on a cattle station named Undoolya. The range at the back of the photo was known as Mt Undoolya however the area was covered in scrub. I approached the station owner and asked if he could clear the area by grading a 1000m airstrip at my preferred location. Jimmy Hayes the station owner obliged as long as I left him a ute load of slabs at the end of the shoot. To make the location look like no-mans land we set about erecting a windmill, a corrugated iron shed and an old fuel bowser. The plane was a vintage 1958 model Cessna 172 Squaretail. We hurriedly threw lots of red dirt on it, ripped the door off and replaced the engine cowl with a damaged unpainted one to make the 172 look like a real bomb. We removed all the interior except for the pilot seat. We then engaged one of Australia's best stunt pilots to fly the aircraft blind. The pilot actually lay on the floor of the 172 until it was just out of camera view and then got into the pilot seat to fly it home. The TVC was made for English commercial television audiences. However like most TV commercials, the DOP's (Director of Photography) always love to make a bloopers version. So I post both versions here for your enjoyment. 22.01.2022 This is so encouraging to see that our industry voice is starting to be heard. Please share and ask your elected federal leaders what they are doing to support the Australian Aviation industry in their challenges created by a government organisation...that our taxes fund?

21.01.2022 We acknowledge there is "consultation fatigue" within so many in the industry and understandably so, however CASA continue to roll them out and sadly if we don't respond, we wear the outcomes! Below is the latest offerings and it contains some very concerning elements - not the least another layer of regulations to be incorporated as part of transition!! As with Part 138 MOS, some industry colleagues have come together to scrutinise details and work on a response. Feel free ...to PM this page or make contact for more details. Responses required by 30 June 2020. https://consultation.casa.gov.au/regulatory-//consult_view

20.01.2022 Another example of how short sighted bad government policies made years ago, continue to have a negative impact on The Australian aviation Industry - particularly GA!

14.01.2022 Congratulations NSW Government and Temora Shore Council on this exciting investment into regional aviation!! Wouldn't it be outstanding if every state government and the federal government would instigate a similar investment strategy?! What a difference this investment would make to revitalising rural and regional economies!

12.01.2022 CASA DAS/DEO responds to the industry representatives who presented to the inquiry on Friday. The sentiment and comments displayed in this presentation should be or concern to not only industry participants.....it has many in the industry calling on the CASA board and relevant Minister to be asking for this apparent leader of the organisation for a please explain??!!

12.01.2022 We acknowledge that this is a very challenging time for many in the industry and very few of us have time to dedicate to the multitude of additional responses that government agencies seem to be constantly seeking.........however Senate Enquiry is a critical one for our industry’s future! Please, if you are able, take the time to make a submission to this, or if you aren’t able to, please contact your relevant representative organisation to ensure your voice is being heard! https://www.aph.gov.au//Rural_and_Regiona/GeneralAviation
