24.01.2022 A story about Grants Coming into the local community! Great to see! This one has Cudgewa Tennis Club, The Dance School and Acres and Acres!

21.01.2022 Well it hasn't stopped in the background. The supplies that came all the way from our friends in QLD just keep on giving. Thanks to Lisa and crew from neighbourly love for doing the distribution you guys are really amazing! Her team has consistantly driven all over the Upper Murray delivering goods, raising funds, taking care of people in need. No agenda. No financial support. No hawking of personal beliefs. Just straight up human spirt in a grass roots approach of loving t...hy neighbour! Covid makes this stuff a little tricker. But we soilder on! If you need house hold goods please send an email to [email protected] #australiaisburning #bushfirerecovery #uppermurray #corryong #channel9news #channel10 #towongshire #neighbourlylove

21.01.2022 This project started up here and has now moved to GIPSLAND. Its great to see such a necissary project take off even with all the roadblocks it had to face.

20.01.2022 He is still going! What a legend

18.01.2022 Well, the distribution of building materials from lands far away was only a few hours out of yesterday. I have been working along with bizrebuild to help distribute tool vouchers roughly around $40,000 worth. Yesterday we gave out 4 $500 bunnings vouchers and 5 refurbished laptops to small business owners in the #uppermurray and #towongshire. It excites me to know these small gifts will help our area thrive again. SO! That was 1pm to 2:30pm. I then caught up with Mick and C...aroline to give them a little surprise of a brand new high-quality nuheara hearing aid. I saw a post by Caroline his partner on Facebook chasing a set because Micks had fallen out and broken. I know they have had a shit house run so I thought to myself, I reckon I can fix this in a few phone calls. I made three. All of which was beneficial to this situation! GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes came through with the goods and bam Mick can hear properly again. If we look after each other in our community and focus on making each others situations better. I believe we can come out stronger and more resilient. I hear professionals speak so often about now is the time to focus on yourself and make sure to look after you and tho I totally agree with this, I find it a pretty mundane repetitive statement that gets thrown around with zest. In my short journey of life so far I have found If we focus on making each other lives better we will thrive much faster and our own problems will be solved on the way. Thanks to all the incredible agency and philanthropic groups that help drive solutions rather than build roadblocks. @Peter Williams from Deloitte GIVIT - Goods For Good Causes Anglicare Victoria Strong Australia Network Jamie from Fencing For Fires, Piers from Tradies for fire affected communities Gateway Health especially my parol officer... 14.01.2022 Bushfire Education Scholarships please help us spread the word! Vinnies Victoria is offering support to year-12 students in Victoria’s fire-affected regions... seeking tertiary education (TAFE or university) in 2021. The scheme has been made possible with the assistance of our funding partners, the Victorian Jewish community. Having been doubly impacted first by the fires and now by COVID-19 Vinnies Victoria, in conjunction with school principals, identified the bushfire-affected region’s year-12 students as being particularly vulnerable and in need of extra support to continue with their studies. Here’s the eligibility criteria (please tag people you know): Be a graduating secondary school student in 2020 Have been impacted as a result of the 20192020 summer bushfires Receive successful admission into tertiary education for 2021 study (upon enrolment, successful applicants will receive scholarships funds). For more information and to apply, visit: vinnies.org.au/bushfirerecovery

13.01.2022 While many of us are grateful for the current rain, let’s not forget our community members who are experiencing difficulties with flash flooding right now. Drive safely, look out for fallen branches, please report debris on roads to VicRoads on 13 11 77.

12.01.2022 Currently feels a bit like this in Victoria as well. 4 weeks to put in grants of upto 2 million dollars and the grant applications don’t match the assessment criteria’s. It feels like they are only for the bodies that have knowledge of the grants before they happen even tho they are labeled ‘community recovery grants’. Plus you have council reps in every recovery committee with the opportunity to sway opinion which creates competition in struggles communities. Something they really don’t need.

12.01.2022 Here is an approach to community led recovery.

11.01.2022 It's great to see the Incredible Jamie and Team still going. Put some gloves on and dig in. It truly is a great way to participate in the recovery!

10.01.2022 Great to see positive project coming to life!

08.01.2022 awesome to see the guys back!

07.01.2022 We have had some stunning mornings here at Walwa BlazeAid Camp. I had previously spent 6 weeks over at Jingellic BlazeAid Camp, but jumped ship after Jingellic ...Camp closed, making the 8km drive over the border to Walwa, to become a volunteer here. Volunteers are still needed, so if you are able to get a pass (ensuring to follow all Covid guidelines), or live within the current 'border bubble', you would be made to feel welcome here at camp. Feel free to shoot through a message or email direct, and someone will get back to you. Alternatively, Linda Deans is the Walwa Camp Co-ordinator, and you can contact Linda on 0437 876 155. But please note that Linda is sometimes out on the fence line and may not be able to take your call immediately, so please be patient, as Linda will get back to you as soon as possible. We hope to hear from you soon.

06.01.2022 As Rebuild Upper Murray pleasantly slows down and parts of it come to a close. Its great to be getting knee deep in soil for a much bigger project. Acres and acres. Have a read of this story about the project written by the garden....I mean the guardian ;)
