23.01.2022 Spiced Plum Jam in the @fowlersvacola Professional Unit. OMG! Think I have a winner here Lightly spiced with #cinnamon #staranise #cardamom @ Lancaster, Victoria

23.01.2022 Hellooo! It’s been a while ... today I thought I would give pasta a go. A GREEN pasta made with kale, eggs & spelt flour. Just hoping it is not too dry as I have never made veggie loaded pasta before but it intrigues me! I want to do patterned pasta, well learn anyway. Use my home grown produce from our property Keldane Homestead . There is homemade Sicilian Ricotta in the fridge so I was thinking ravioli ... not that the Neanderthal will try that but I can freeze some for later.

23.01.2022 Well the kitchen is nearly finished & I made my first loaf in Agnes the Aga ... fluffy, light & pretty much perfect. I was actually a bit scared to bake in Agnes. What if I failed? Different story now ... my Baking Mojo is BACK!

23.01.2022 Not my recipe ... however it has rave reviews.

21.01.2022 Having a crack at a Celtic Teabread ~ my version. In Scotland it is called Selkirk Bannock & in Ireland it is Barm Brack. Maybe I’ll call this BANNOCK BRACK? So I am using my special chai tea blend. You soak dried fruit with the sugar for 8 hours in the tea blend. I have done mini loaves but I like to call them SHARE CAKES. Too big for one but nice to share over a cuppa with a friend or two.

20.01.2022 Raspberry Tiramisu ... how good was it? Made The Neanderthal a separate one [no coffee in it]. Wanted another one. Beard Boy ate half ... Little Ranga held back a bit. Requests to repeat the effort next year ... homemade Savoiardi Sponge Lady Finger biscuits.

19.01.2022 Pesto making time!

19.01.2022 Well, it has been a while since I posted. This has been due to a few factors ... exciting ones! We shifted to Country Victoria in the Food Bowl Capital of Australia, The Goulburn Valley last year. 1.2 acres of heaven . So along with establishing new vegetable plots, we have been renovating the house since January 2020. A new Magna pool/spa went in [right in front of the front verandah & bedrooms!] January/February. The Little Kitchen was built by putting a new wall in th...e ‘man cave’ that was rarely used [leaving 4.2m x 4.6m room]. 10’ ceiling height! We utilised parts of the old kitchen in there, effectively giving us a smaller, full kitchen with a LOT of shelving, nearly to the ceiling, including spaxe for a family sized upside down fridge/freezer plus a bigger chest freezer [a bench is being made from the old benchtop to fit over the top of the freezer for extra bench space]. So whilst the Big Kitchen was demolished & being worked on, we still had a working kitchen with everything except a dishwasher. That is in the Big Kitchen still. The Big Kitchen cabinetry, island bench & oven alcove with mantle is being made right now ... installing next week we hope. The old walk-in pantry, a weird shape with a fake wall in it, was totally ripped out. Ceilling, walls & floor were reshaped, extended & new shelving put in, nearly doubling the shelving space in a more manageable depth. It was made to accomodate preserving jars & big flour tubs too. Our oven is almost in place, the floor is being levelled out & the encaustic tiles are waiting to be laid. A new trifold window is in, with a pull down flyscreen is installed. A new timber servery bench/bar is being made [I will need to make a cover for it so swallow birdies don’t poop & stain it!]. After this the bathroom will be started. Another 2-3 months I think. On top of all this my husband has not been well ... gout, a theombosis in his leg [at the same time] ... he has had a major operation, a full knee replacement nearly 3 weeks ago, to recuperate from. So I have had my hands full! I am also working on a weekly podcast ... to be announced later! It’s a ripper! 16.01.2022 Although Australia Day is coming up in 2 days, I decided to make Pumpkin Pie to celebrate the lives of the three American Firefighters who lost their lives yesterday when their Hercules Lockheed C-130 aerial water tanker crashed over NSW near the town of Peak View near the Snowy Mountains. These exemplary ‘Firies’ ... an Australian term of affection, pronounced ‘Fire-ees’, for volunteer firefighters in particular ... lost their lives on their way to help with the Bushfire E...ffort. The three men, aged 42, 43 & 45, had decades of experience. Their deaths brings the total deaths of firefighters to nine. Total deaths is 33. The plane was contracted through North American aerial firefighting company Coulson Aviation (USA) & brought here in August 2019, in preparation for the Bushfire Season they knew would happen. It had passed all safety checks to fly here. I live in regional Victoria, Australia. Volunteer Firies are revered, respected & held in awe. RIP ... The Australian public will not forget you. Condolences to the mens’ families.

13.01.2022 Although I LOATHE stinking weather, and glad for the whole house aircon, I find I like to get in the kitchen to bake sourdough. So mixing it up to knead by machine. Bread rises quicker in the heat but SO does the sourdough starter ... came home to it oozing out the top [see offending blob in picture]. I put it on the brewing mat & forgot to take it off before I went out to help at a funeral If you are wondering, the bottles are REAL Ginger Beer. Putrid hot days coming up so making some probiotic drinks. Made with a home grown ginger bug from fresh ginger ... so long as the bottles don’t explode like a water kefir bottle did on opening a couple of weeks ago ... strawberry, watermelon & thyme ... all over the ceiling after exploding into my face! First time for everything eh?

09.01.2022 Paying tribute to the American Firefighters who died in service to Australia with Pumpkin Pie. Nothing says America like a #pumpkinpie ... like #lamingtons say Australia. RIP boys
