22.01.2022 The Geographical Names Board is seeking community feedback on proposals by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) to dual name four sacred places in the areas surrounding Bega. The NPWS has proposed to add the traditional names for Mount Dromedary as Gulaga, Little Dromedary Mountain as Najanuka, Mumbulla Mountain as Biamanga and Montague Island as Barunguba. 19.01.2022 If you've seen In My Blood It Runs documentary, a portrait of a young face entered into this year's Archibald Prize will be very familiar. Blak Douglas is now a finalist with his powerful portrait of Arrernte and Garrwa boy Dujuan Hoosan. The announcement of Dujuan's portrait becoming a finalist follows the news Meyne Wyatt's stunning self-portrait took out the Packing Room Prize for 2020 - the first time a First Nations artists has been awarded a prize in the competition's 9...9-year history. As SBS News reports, Douglas says he'd love to see an Indigenous artist take home this year’s top prize and create history.
