20.01.2022 SCAM ALERT - PLEASE SHARE!! A number of people are receiving telephone calls from people claiming they are from Microsoft, Telstra and other providers, who advise them that their PC's are infected with major viruses. The callers request access to your PC to "clean" the so called virus. If you grant access to these people, they will infect your PC, and then request $300 or so to remove. Do not fall for this. Microsoft or any other company, do not have end user details suc...h as telephone numbers etc to be able to call you and advise that your machine is infected. Should you receive such a call, hang up immediately. If you are one of the unfortunate ones and you have granted them access to your PC, please have it checked immediately to ensure its free from infection. We had a client a week or so ago who wanted to call Telstra to get some email support. They used google to lookup Telstra, but without realising, were directed to a website that had a 1800 number. Upon calling so called "Telstra", and granting them access to their machine, they suspected something was going on when they were told that they had to pay $300 to get the virus removed - even though they were calling for email support. At this stage, we were called, and I immediately advised the user to disconnect the session. We proceeded to clean the machine, and restore confidence. Please share this so people are aware of what's going on. Let us know if this has happened to you or someone you know.

19.01.2022 We received a call this morning from a rather distressed client as their server was down infected with Ransomware. Staff were in, clients walking in the door, the phone was going bonkers, but none of their systems were accessible. Thanks to the backup solution provided by us only a few weeks ago incorporating both onsite and offsite backup, once the restore began, the client was up and running within the hour. Don't get caught without a backup, and don't rely on simply backi...ng up to a USB Stick or external drive. If these devices are connected to your computer/laptop/server at time of infection, those devices will be infected also and the backup on them will be useless. Feel free to give us a call to discuss any backup requirements you may have.
