24.01.2022 Learn more about the benefits of the Laverton North project that diverts 200,000 tonnes of waste from landfill and powers 30,000 homes.

24.01.2022 Infrastructure Victoria draft 30 Year Infrastructure Strategy highlights the need to build a Circular Economy. "Immediately focus efforts to increase and upgrade waste processing infrastructure. Minimise waste and improve residual waste infrastructure planning. In the next two years, improve infrastructure planning for managing residual waste, and further clarify the role of waste-to-energy facilities." "If Victoria continues its current trajectory, residual waste is project...ed to increase from 4.4 million tonnes in 2017-18 to 5.7 million tonnes in 2037-38." Councils will be able to divert their municipal residual waste away from landfill and send it to the Recovered Energy Australia Laverton North waste to energy plant to recover the energy and lower greenhouse gas emissions. https://youtu.be/shnQV9d2fZU The Consultation period is now open: https://engage.vic.gov.au/victorias-30-year-infrastructure-

16.01.2022 Victoria sends over 4 million tonnes of waste to landfill every year. The Laverton North project will divert 200,000 tonnes and generate 15MW of electricity into the grid. This prevents the production of methane emissions, which is up to 86 times more potent than carbon dioxide (CO2) over a 20 year period.

10.01.2022 Solo Resource Recovery has partnered to deliver the Laverton North Waste to Energy Project diverting 200,000 tonnes per annum from landfill and generate electricity for 30,000 homes. Over 6 million tonnes of waste is expected to be dumped at landfills in Victoria by 2037 and this is an innovative project to reduce reliance on landfill while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions. #SmartCities #waronwaste #melbourne #council
