25.01.2022 The smartest entrepreneurs, the ones who grow better businesses faster buy back their time. What do I mean? You have two resources time and money. Many people think that by doing more themselves they are saving their business money. In fact, the opposite is true. What happens when you take on more yourself is that you steal time from yourself; time better spent on what you do well, speaking to clients, implementing strategies for growth etc. If you are doing things like, fo...r example, your book keeping, searching for leads, getting bogged down in admin you are burning through your timeand ultimately your cash. Outsourcing or delegating these lower level functions and also functions outside your skill set will free up your time to run and grow your business, i.e allow you to focus on what you are good at and where you can make the biggest impact in your growth.

24.01.2022 How do you balance the short term game of chasing next month’s revenue and the long term game of building tomorrow's business? First grab a coffee. And then 1) Separate the two If you are on the tools chasing deals focus on that. Then when you are planning for tomorrow remove yourself from the day to day and lock yourself away in a concrete bunker so you can think clearly with no distractions whilst planning for tomorrow’s business.... 2) Diarise dedicated time to work on your business and set it in stone. This is your ticket to tomorrow's success. 3) As you work in your business (on the tools) identify the bottlenecks slowing your results. Then, create the strategies to overcome those when you are in your planning time because that’s when you’ll have the brain space to solve them effectively. What's the biggest bottleneck holding you back in your business?

24.01.2022 What’s the One Thing that makes your clients buy? The level of certainty a client has that you will deliver on what they want will dictate how likely they are to buy from you. Here are 5 quick tips to help them realise just how certain they should be!... 1) First YOU must believe you can help them. 2) Communicate with confidence using words like will instead of maybe, sure instead of might. Words like always, definitely, absolutely all good. 3) Be certain yourself who you can and can’t help. Don’t try to help people that you can’t. 4) Present independent proof case studies, testimonials. 5) Focus on the result they are looking for and then back that up with 3 specific facts about your solution you know will help them feel certain. For example, We are looking for a Data Scientist with experience in FMCG. "Great, 35% of the roles we fill are Data Scientists and over 20% of those in the last 6 months were in FMCG. How does your agency help your clients feel confident you can help?

24.01.2022 Left to your own devices as business owners it can be tempting to take the path of least resistance. Until we become business owners we always have someone asking us the tough questions and helping us see the way forward. You can see where I’m going with this... When we start our own recruitment agencies often that’s not the case, (and it’s pretty good for a while!) We fly solo with big plans and get a chance to do things our way. However, sometimes our way needs a little tweaking and right about then is the point where having someone in your corner again will be one of the most generous things you can do for both yourself and your business. If you have been running your own agency for a while and feel like you are treading water, find yourself second guessing your decisions or just lacking confidence, consider seeking out somebody to guide you who: 1) Has walked in similar shoes and achieved what you are trying to. 2) Will hold you to account is firm but fair. 3) Will be in your corner 110%. 4) Will help you make decisions objectively and consider all the facts. 5) Is inspiring to you and gets you pumped about what is possible for you. Who do you have in your corner? I’d love to hear what support is working for you.

23.01.2022 Do I build then hire consultants, or hire then build? Unless you have pots of money, my take on this is very clear. Build THEN hire. Why? - Because until you have a consistent period of increasing and predictable cash flow, your business is vulnerable. - With the very best intentions life is unpredictable; so, plan for the worst and expect the best. i.e. What happens if your new hire doesn’t bill or they leave? If you could be confident if this happened your business would... still be in good shape, it may well be time to grow! I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences on when the best time to hire has been for you.

22.01.2022 Do you find yourself exploring opportunity or shutting it down? Now more than ever it’s important to be looking for reasons to do something as opposed to not. I was prompted to write this short post as I have been speaking to a lot of recruitment agency owners in the last few weeks and they fall into two camps. First camp - Those willing to explore ideas and look for how they could work. They are eagerly looking for new ideas, learning, listening and taking action.... Second camp Living in fear, shutting down ideas before they can see what is possible. Constantly announcing There are no jobs and focussing on the problem not the solution. When you see ideas that could potentially work for you, ask yourself How could this work? What could I offer right now? Who do I know that I could go to for advice? Who could I partner with on this? You never know where the right questions and a willingness to discover will lead you.

20.01.2022 7 Ways to respond when a client says "You filled that role way too fast to deserve a fee" Ouch!

19.01.2022 It's likely that if you are running a few less roles because of Covid that you are concentrating on a few of those projects you just haven't been able to get around to. You know, the one day someday projects. This is great but it can also be a little overwhelming, so here's a tip to help you out.

18.01.2022 Quick tip Wednesday (not sure that's even a thing!) ...However, I've noticed not too many recruitment or search firm owners seem to be using automated calendar invitation software. If you are still going backwards and forwards with people doing the "find a time tango" to find a suitable calendar slot, there's a far easier way. Check out Calendly, Schedule Once or Acuity and next time you set up a meeting it's as simple as sending one quick link.

18.01.2022 In marketing, sometimes we do or try everything, which can also hurt our business. But what are the common mistakes we need to avoid for it to be successful? Sean, our expert gives us the top 3 common mistakes.... To watch the full Q&A with Sean and Belinda just click here. https://buff.ly/3r6u6Tq

18.01.2022 Looking to scale your agency? Here's a few things to think about. Scale is a word thrown around quite a lot; however there is a process to scaling a business and here are few things to consider when it comes to maximising your revenue and minimising your operating costs. i.e. scale.... Know your end game. Focus on creating automated processes around the right things - BD/Marketing, training, delivery etc. Identify bottlenecks and fix them. Delegate anything you are doing below your paygrade or outside your skillset. Only scale a process when it's delivering what you want. Integrate systems where you can - but don't go overboard. Ask for help from those who have already scaled a business - they will have some good advice for you.

16.01.2022 Do you sometimes feel like your clients are telling you how to do your job? Many people think recruitment is easy (that's before they do it themselves!) It might be time to reiterate to your clients why you do things the way you do and how that leads to the best results for them

11.01.2022 We are often tempted to look outside our business for more revenue. New clients, a cool piece of tech to streamline processes, another hire... Often it's the case though there is money to be found in what you already have. It's just hidden. For eg, how deep have you gone into existing clients to see what else you could be doing with them? What extra functionality does the tech you are running already have that you haven't been optimising? Or, the big elephant in the room, you...r database. Check out how many of your placements made in the last 12 months were already sitting on your database but you paid for them again with a new job ad - stats show often it's over 80%. Knowing this, where might cash be hiding in your business?

08.01.2022 A few words of wisdom from Richard Branson How to do business https://recruitmentgarage.com/gems-from-richard-branson-li/

08.01.2022 Guess where i was last night! What a night! I was expecting a pretty good show, but wow what a performance. Doing what he was born to do Sir Elton John literally lit up thousands of faces. ... This icon is 72, is up to his 153rd performance (I think that's the number he quoted) on this tour, has just recovered from a significant illness, doesn't "need" to do any of this but who could stop him! I was so inspired by his passion and love of what he does - so true when you love what you do...there is no stopping you.

06.01.2022 Who do you have to thank? I’ve been fortunate enough to have had the support in my life to create what I set out to. I stopped to think today who I owed most thanks to, and I realised there was no one person. There was a long list from family, friends, mentors, coachees, employees, (many of whom became friends), people I’d had a random chat with on a flight with whom I'd shared pearls of wisdom... and on the list went right the way to the nice cool bottle of wine in the fr...idge on a Friday!... or maybe Tuesday if it was a rough week! Who do you most have to thank? And have you had the opportunity to do so?

05.01.2022 Mapping your market will help you streamline your BD and leave no stone unturned. Surprisingly, a lot of people I speak to have never mapped their market to any significant degree. A shame as it can really help you as the first key step in filling your funnel

03.01.2022 Sometimes it's not easy to do because we like to maintain control. However, letting go of tasks outside your skillset or below your pay grade will free up your time to work on high impact business activities. And often when you let go of those tasks you "intend" to do regularly but never get around to, when they become part of somebody else's JD they get done! What's one task you could delegate today?

02.01.2022 OK, how many ads have you seen this year already saying something like You don’t need to do all those social media posts, write an e book or waste your time blogging every day (i.e put in effort)? My solution will bring you pots of gold by the chariot load. A few? They seem to be on the increase, I counted 3 just in my feed today. Nothing wrong with that; it’s advertising putting great ideas in front of you. And most of the solutions are probably very good; if they are... implemented properly. However, the stats show very few will reap the rewards of these well packaged growth strategies, and why? Because no matter which marketing route you choose it will always take a certain investment of time and money to understand and implement it properly. Especially when it’s new to you. The moment you throw in the towel and say it’s all too complicated is probably the time you are learning the most and promised results aren’t too far away. What am I saying? If you are trying a new sales or marketing strategy, stick it out, ensure you are running it optimally and if it’s not delivering ask for help so you can get it working properly and enjoy what was promised on the tin. I’ll be the first admit I have been dazzled by promises of pots of gold:) later realising they were buried under all the hard work!
