24.01.2022 UPDATE: Based on my own liking and your feedback I have chosen #8 as the winner for the stencil competition! A bonus, one of my customers ALSO made a profile pic for this page. Thank you all for your feedback!... Hi Folks. Doing something different. I have been thinking about a 'stencil' for Re-Cycle 4017, so I can mark the bikes that have gone through the workshop. So I put a competition together on Freelancer (plus I was curious to know how Freelancer worked). Essentially the stencil will be used to spray paint a mark on the bottom of the bike. https://www.freelancer.com//Make-a-stencil-logo-fo/entries there's some good ones here - have a look - which do you like?

19.01.2022 Not selling, just Reminiscing: About 6 years ago, I made a BMX Sidecar for my son and his friend to fang around on. I cut down a 16" BMX rear end, and welded the frame up out of old trampoline legs off a dead trampoline, and created a floor base from tin from an old hot water heater.... It was heavy to ride but a lot of fun. Eventually they grew out of it and I gave it away.

12.01.2022 So, in June I had set a target of 30k a day for 30 days, on 30 different bikes. Some of the the bikes were give-aways (through Re-Cycle 4017 page). I have 'done... up' and given away about 15 bikes during this challenge. (Done up means, trued wheels, replaced tubes, tyres, chains, seats, whatever) for me - It has been quite a challenge! The beginning was easy, the middle got hard, and the end is dragging a bit. That's a metaphor for life!! I ran out of bikes and had to re-use some of my originals - i rode my fixie 3 times. So far I have done 25 out of 30 days, so I still have a bit to go, I will continue into July. Best part - I managed to raise $844 so far. Interesting experience, doing 30km every afternoon. Luckily I had some good friends who hit out with me, Aaron Sloper, Ken Francey, Tony Cuff, Felicia Colemann, Lachlan John , and Dom (not on facebook) Celeste Roe . I'm grateful to my friends for helping out when the going got a bit hard. And to Craig Box for coming and picking up a bike with me too! That is already moved on to next AND: to all my local community: Thank you for donating bikes, encouraging, messages, donations and cheers. :D

05.01.2022 A public service announcement! . "Oil your chain" :-) a little and often. I use "rock n roll gold" chain lube. But.. you could use some spray oil and if you're really stuck with no oil? A bit of olive oil. It will stop the rust and keep it moving. Clean the chain as best you can, Wet the chain with oil then use a rag to wipe it dry. Living in 4017 means salt. :-( so any oil is better than none These chains where rusted solid and needed cutting off with an angle grinder. No saving these they are destined for metal scrap bin.
