Those tiny pieces of plastic are produced from plastic breaking down - synthetic cloth are a huge contributor as plastic fibers such as polyester and acrylic end up in water after each washing machine. In the ocean, micro-plastics are mistaken for food by baby fish... impacting the whole food chain. Not all impacts are well-known yet... So, what do we do about it? 1.
