25.01.2022 Let’s make some noise about another disappointment for the community left in the wake of the t2t. The community has put up with its fair share of dust noise and inconvenience and now the shiny green artists impression to get us all on board turn out to be more lip service - few to no trees and landscaping will just be mounds of dirt/ rubble -we deserve better, our taxes paid for this give what you sold us all... green please! And our rates should contribute to the upkeep - listen to your people councils this is what we want!

11.01.2022 It is with a heavy heart that we will be placing Red Door Bakery & Croydon Social in the hands of liquidators. We would like to take the time to thank the local community who have supported us over the past 8 years, to our regular customers who have found there way through the maze of road works over the past 3 years to remain part of our community and our loyal customers. we thank you. To our wonderful employees, both shop and kitchen staff thanks for the smiles, the hard w...ork and being part of our family . Sorry it had to end this way. We have come to the end of the road so to speak Allow me one last rant. When governments undertake capital works there is a real need to take into consideration small business, in the 3 years of the T2T project we have seen many local businesses close as a result; hopefully ours will be the last. Our state Government are under no obligation to pay compensation to business (some states do) however, this doesn’t mean they cant, they choose not to, the former labour government line was just hang in there. While splashing million dollar grants at a local multi national brewery’s (no offence to them I quite enjoy their beer), hundreds of thousands to local churches for new kitchens. My point is they could justify this spending but don’t look to protect small business when there are capital works projects that rip the heart out of a business and the community, we have poured our blood sweat and tears into our business, we employ 30 people, why don’t their jobs count? They pay tax and are active members of society, why is no thought put in to protecting them during these major projects, I ask again don’t they count? We as employers have sold our family home (which we had before we opened the business) to try and keep the doors open and keep people employed, but business has not picked up & the debt accumulated, people change habits when they cant get access and its hard to get them back! We are going to miss seeing the local kids grow up eating gingerbread, the mums who meet up before & after the school drop off, seeing the kids after basketball or football stop by for a pie while all the parents grab coffee and recover from Saturday night, the pielattes (pilates) ladies the lunch time tradies, the locals chatting out the front and the morning coffee crew. We are grateful for the friendships we have made. Thanks for having us as part of your community we will miss you all Gareth & Emma
