20.01.2022 As you may or may not know, the Ekka has been cancelled this year. :( This of course means no competition, but in lieu, I have a few projects in the works. Watch this space. ;) #plentyofsparetime

18.01.2022 After a bit of a hiatus, my first day back in the workshop resulted in, my first and only cut, within 5 minutes of being in the workshop, sore tired feet but also a quiet contendedness. Which was unexpected, as I have sort of dreaded getting back into the workshop, due to the anount of housekeeping that was required from a long absence. While I felt like it took a little while to re-find my groove, time flew by and before I knew it, it was dark outside my door and my stomach was telling me in no uncertain terms that it wanted dinner. Looking at what I have accomplished today, I have managed to make a good start and I am quite looking forward to watching the project that I'm working on evolve.

12.01.2022 While wandering around today, I found this beautiful leadlight, down a little laneway.

11.01.2022 Well after multiple visits to doctors and specialists, with plenty of scans thrown in, to mix it up a little. It has been found that I will be needing surgery on my ankle. This unfortunately means lots of downtime. While this means that while I will not be able to do any work that requires standing, I will however be able to quote on repairs, reconstructions and new projects. I have also decided that I will attempt to get pieces for the Ekka finished before my surgery puts me on the sidelines. So keep an eye out, as I will post some pictures of the pieces as they come together, and hopefully get them finished in time to show them at the Ekka. Fingers crossed!!

10.01.2022 After a miscommunication between my foot and a concrete gutter. I am now stuck with only doing work that requires a chair, some place to put my foot up and a table. Guess it is time to do some more design work on a certain pair of French doors.

10.01.2022 While on my journeys, I stopped into the Rijkmuseum, which for those of you who don't know, it is one of many museums in Amsterdam, though it does take a 3-4 hours to have a good look at all of the exhibits. If you are planning on going to Amsterdam, I definitely recommend taking the time to pay the Rijkmuseum a visit. Through out the whole museum there are leadlights and stained glass windows everywhere. Of which I took a million and one pictures. Of the museum's various... collection of artwork and antiquities, there are very few images on my camera, I am embarrassed to say. The pictures of the two windows that I have posted, could not be more opposite to each other, one a leadlight and the other a stained glass window. I really liked this leadlight, it is a simple pattern, with clean lines and only a small hint of colour in the rondel. It shows that you don't need to have a complex and colourful leadlight to make it a point of interest. The other picture is a beautiful stained glass window at its finest. These stainted glass windows were part of a much larger installaion, all of which are just as detailed as the ones in the photo. I have also added a couple of close up pictures, so that you can see the level of skill required to bring these beauties to life. See more

07.01.2022 This was a panel that I did for a client, who I had previously done work for. This was installed into the breezeway, between the entry and lounge.

07.01.2022 Just a reminder to everyone, that I will be unavailable to do any onsite visits for the next 6 weeks. That being said, if you do have work that you want quoted on or a new piece to be designed, I am more than happy to discuss it with you.

06.01.2022 What you are looking at is the start of one of my Ekka pieces. When I build a leadlight, I will often lay out all of the cut pieces (or in this case, half of them), to find potential colour or texture clashes in the glass. This was something that we did in the studio where I learned. We would do this for our clients, so that they could come in and 'proof' their glass choices before we started the construction process and it is something that I still do to this day with my o...wn clients. This is the reason that I have laid this pattern out, I was looking for a potential clash between the two types of clear textured glass that I have used. While you may not be able to clearly see them, what you will able to see is the beautiful red, mouth blown glass that has been used for the tulips. This was a pattern that I loved, in the studio where I learned.

06.01.2022 Finally back in the workshop and not even 5 minutes here and I'm sporting my first cut... #lovemyjob

04.01.2022 These kitchen cabinets were made for a client who has previously had windows made. Obviously I did something right. ;)

02.01.2022 Here is the first of three leadlights that I have just completed for a couple. The multiple frogs panel is the design that the clients initially chose, but after looking at the space and also the fact that there were three windows that were not all the same size, this design was altered for a much better fit.

02.01.2022 Just a little bit of green, me thinks... This little guy is the first of three panels.

01.01.2022 Keep in mind, the Ekka is just around the corner, so get your tickets and come support your local artisans by checking out the amazing work of everyone who has submitted a piece, this year.
