22.01.2022 2021 Registrations now open As we near the end of 2020 there is little doubt it has been a year like no other we have experienced. From a club perspective it was frustrating not to be able to participate in a season, however we believe the right decision was made given the incredibly challenging environment we faced. Thanks to our members who were very understanding of the process and rationale behind the decisions. The Committee has commenced planning for 2021 which will be... a big year for the club as we celebrate 150 years! Please find below information on registrations and how you can help. Registrations Football Registrations are now open for existing players (and siblings) and will close on 22 January 2021. Registrations for new players will be open on 27 January 2021. Please use the following links to register: Male football https://membership.sportstg.com/v6/regoform.cgi Female football https://membership.sportstg.com/regoform.cgi Please note the female football junior age groups have changed for 2021 as follows: U/14, U/16, U18. Netball All existing netball players should have received an email requesting advice on their intention to play in 2021. While we are still waiting for some responses, it is clear there is very strong demand across all age groups. At this early stage it looks like we may have room available in our under 17 group (for those born in 2004 and 2005) and our under 11 group (for those born in 2011 only). Enquiries should be forwarded to Lyndel Roberts at [email protected] Further information about the formal registration process for netball will be provided early in 2021. Fees for 2021 are not yet know but we do not expect them to be higher than 2020. More on this early in the new year. Help required After the events of 2020 we are committed to ensuring 2021 a great year for our kids. To make this happen we need your assistance. If you would like to help out in some capacity please let us know. This could involve a game day role, support behind the scenes or joining the Committee where we’d like a few more members. There are also sponsorship opportunities available. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas, a safe and fun festive season. Looking forward to a big 2021 as we celebrate 150 years. Anthony O’Brien Junior Director

21.01.2022 CALL FOR LIFE MEMBERSHIP NOMINATIONS - 2020 As 2020 draws to a close, Club members are cordially invited to submit nominations for consideration for the awarding of Life Membership of the Redan Football Netball Club. Life Membership is typically awarded to individuals who have made significant/extraordinary contributions to the club or who have been responsible for significant/extraordinary achievements on the club’s behalf. Contributions/achievements can be related to both on-field and/or off-field activities. Nominations should be submitted by midnight on Monday 2nd November for consideration by the Board of Management. Nominations should include the following information: Name of person being nominated for Life Membership Name and contact details for member nominating person for Life Membership Summary details of significant/extraordinary contribution to club, or significant/extraordinary achievements on the club’s behalf Nominations should be forwarded by email to President Garry Goyne at [email protected] or handed in person to a Board Member. This is an opportunity to recognise the contribution of great people to our great club, and members are encouraged to put forward nominations for consideration. Garry Goyne President Redan Football Netball Club

13.01.2022 Hi all, today the BFNL announced the cancellation of Junior Football and Netball for the 2020 season. Roll on 2021 as soon as possible...

11.01.2022 A couple of years ago Dan Andrews was at the Western Oval for the official opening of the re-surfaced and re-drained oval, the new ground lights, and the re-furbished kitchen/canteen. Today there has been a significant announcement re 100,000 $200 vouchers which will be available before next season to help kids get active in sports again post COVID-19. There'll be more details coming on how this will all work, but great to see the photo the Premier has used when making today...'s announcement is our own Savannah, seen here in deep conversation with the premier at the Western Oval. Savannah has been a member of our very successful Female Football program since 2017, and represents well the participation opportunities the growth of Female Football in our club has opened up for young people in our community. Bring on 2021! Go Lions!

11.01.2022 The Redan Football Netball club is excited to announce that its senior mens footballers will wear a newly designed jumper for its 150th Anniversary in season 20...21. The jumper was designed by current board member and past player Paul Brick and sees the return of the RFC monogram last worn in the 1970s. There is also a nod to the tri-panel jumper worn during the 1980s and 1990s incorporated into the design. The Anniversary will be marked by a function to be held at The Civic Hall on Saturday May 1st with more details to follow in the coming months. Garry Goyne - President

09.01.2022 An Important Announcement - Junior Football & Netball Hi all, The Redan Football Netball Club has made the decision not to participate in the 2020 junior season.... The BFNL has recommended that the 2020 season proceed for junior football and netball. This recommendation was made following a meeting of junior coordinators at which a clear position was not reached. The health, safety and well-being of everyone involved in our club is paramount. Recent spikes in infection rates in Melbourne have added to concerns around further spread of the virus and as a result the governing bodies have issued more stringent protocols than we were expecting only a week ago. These revised protocols are in some parts unclear and create an extraordinary burden on our volunteers with serious consequences for non-compliance. They will also fundamentally change the game-day experience for players and spectators. The uncertainty around the structure of the competition makes it very difficult to make an informed decision. The most likely scenario presented to clubs involved either spreading games across multiple days and/or reducing some grades to one team only i.e. no reserves. While we appreciate the challenges the BFNL face and the effort to find workable solutions we believe either or both of these scenarios would add a further significant load on our volunteers. In the event of a reduction in teams per grade this would have the added impact of large numbers of kids missing out each week while others are participating. When we add to this the prospect of a finals series it places the coaches and club in an extremely difficult position which could have unintended consequences in terms of ongoing participation. On balance the Junior Committee and Board believe it is not in the best interests of the club to participate in the 2020 season as things stand currently. We appreciate that some of our members, players, parents, coaches and volunteers may not agree with this decision. Thank you for your patience over what has been an incredibly challenging few months for the community. Should conditions improve we would be open to exploring opportunities to get our kids involved in some form of activity. Regards Anthony O’Brien Junior Director 0418355011
