06.01.2022 Anyone for an extra big helping of happy hormones? Resuming in-person outdoor group fitness this week means those ‘feel good’ ENDORPHINS, OXYTOCIN, DOPAMINE and SEROTONIN will be flowing freely What are these happy hormones? ... ENDORPHINS are your bodies natural pain reliever and also gives us a ‘runners high’ and increases feelings of pleasure. DOPAMINE is also associated with pleasurable sensations and gives us the sense of achievement. It helps out with learning and memory as well as improving motor system function. SEROTONIN helps regulate your mood, as well as sleep, appetite, digestion etc. It gives us that sense of pride, and feeling valued. OXYTOCIN, probably my most favourite of all the neurotransmitters (hormones). Not to be confused with oxycodon drugs... I’m no drug dealer OXYTOCIN is another naturally occurring human hormone that helps with social bonding, relationship building and well-being. When released into our bloodstream oxytocin gives us feelings of connection, trust, love and friendship. It’s the hormone responsible for those ‘warm + fuzzy’ feelings... all the unicorns + rainbows This is why training with others and being part of a COMMUNITY can be so beneficial to us social, tribal beings. I know for me, being a part of a team and feeling connected with other like minded people has been a key in my own mental health. Human connection and close relationships are such a big pillar of a happy human experience. There’s many more ways to boost these ‘feel good’ hormones in our bodies. More info on that to come. 02.01.2022 After training her on-line through the Covid-19 pandemic for 8mths, this morning I (we) finally got to meet this lovely lady in-person And I can report that she is just as lovely and awesome in real life as she is online.
