20.01.2022 The Royal Australian Navy college at HMAS Creswell has graduated the largest officer cohort in its 107-year history, with 168 members of New Entry Officer's Cou...rse 62 completing their initial training Graduating Midshipman Darcy Steinbacher said it had been an honour to be chosen as part of the colour party for the ceremonial sunset and to graduate with her cohort. I believe we have been given a solid foundation to move into the fleet as naval officers, and we have built professional relationships with each other that will last well throughout our careers, Midshipman Steinbacher said. The graduation was preceded by the Sunset Ceremony at Creswell, with both events modified to ensure the graduates complied with physical distancing restrictions. Because of #COVID19 restrictions, families and friends were not able to attend the milestone. Read more: https://bit.ly/CreswellGrad #AusNavy #YourADF
17.01.2022 The neighbourhood turned out in force to give veteran Allan McNaught a very special ANZAC Day service last Saturday. Formerly of 8RAR, Allan has been in ill hea...lth, so neighbours gathered outside his home to bring ANZAC Day to him (with appropriate social distancing, of course!). The Ode was read by Allans son Murray also ex-serving and family friend Damon sounded The Last Post. On display for all to see was the beautiful quilt featuring the 8RAR insignia, handsewn by his daughter Caroline, as well as memorabilia from Allans time in service. Thank you, Allan and Leone, for letting us be part of this very special occasion.

13.01.2022 Australia has lost a true friend with the passing of Dr Patrick Simon AO in France today, following a long battle with Coronavirus. As Mayor of Villers-Bretonn...eux, Dr Simon oversaw the renovation of the Franco-Australian First World War museum, was a strong supporter of the Sir John Monash Centre, and earlier this year, raised some $37,000 after seeing reports of the devastating bushfires across Australia. Awarded an Order of Australia in 2015 in recognition of his continued efforts to strengthen the Franco-Australian relationship, Dr Simon will be greatly missed by all Australians who met and worked with him. Vale.

07.01.2022 Kathryn served our country for 20 years, deploying multiple times to locations such as Afghanistan and Kuwait. Her late husband was also an Army veteran, tragic...ally suffering from PTSD, depression and chronic pain. It was a dark time in Kathryn's life. She bravely shared with us: "Sadly, my husband then took his own life." Legacy has been here for Kathryn and her young daughter during a time of loss, grief and hardship. To find out more about Kathryn's story, visit www.legacyweek.com.au.
07.01.2022 "Fellow citizens, the war is over". Those were the words of Prime Minister Ben Chifley on 15 August 1945. Today, on the 75th Anniversary of VP (Victory in the... Pacific) Day, we gathered in #Ipswich to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our peace. And a lovely #Springfield connection in today's service with Bugler Brad Strong from Hymba Yumba Independent School performing the Last Post. 02.01.2022 6 years today we received a call that we never wanted to hear. That you had been KIA Pfc Keith Williams... You were an amazing young man that had so much to give to your country.in the years you had with us. You brought so much laughter... Thinking of you and your Family today. Our nation owes a debt to its fallen heroes that we can never fully repay, but we can honor their sacrifice." President Barack Obama
02.01.2022 still in Pozieres, here is the Animal War Memorial in Pozieres which pays a very beautiful tribute to all the animals who died during the first world war, betwe...en 9 and 10 million animals died alongside men on the battlefields, dogs, horses, mules, pigeons, innocent soldiers who suffered in silence doing their duty with bravery, often decorated and never forgotten, to be in front of this memorial was very moving, to think of the sufferings that these animals went through is something that breaks my heart, the animals have always been the best friends of man, in times of war but also in times of peace, they were and are today heroes who serve alongside soldiers with the same courage, with bravery, loyalty, we must never forget what they have done in the past in the trenches and we must show them the respect they deserve because they were and will always be man's best friends, war heroes and heroes of every day, let's never forget them See more
