23.01.2022 At Redbank Dental, we believe every child deserves the best oral healthcare possible. That is why we offer to BULK BILL* all children. We make those consultations fun and pleasant for your kids and helpful for both of you. Many parents believe children’s oral health is not as important as adult oral healthcare because baby teeth eventually fall out. While it is true that baby teeth will fall out, failing to properly care for children’s oral health while they are young can be extremely costly as children age. *Children eligible for CDBS

22.01.2022 #dentalhealthweek a couple of years ago we posted this, and unfortunately many still continue to consume too much sugar! Pro Tip Alert Did you know that a supersized sugary drink or slushie can contain up to 30 teaspoons of sugar ?!... This sugar can contribute to toxic fat around your organs and can lead to type 2 diabetes, heart disease and.tooth decay. So what are our Pro Tips today? Drink lots of water!! Water is calorie free, there are no ingredient labels to stress over, and its almost free! Even better, tap water in most areas of Australia contains fluoride, one of the easiest and most beneficial ways to help prevent tooth decay. - Limit snacks! If you snack frequently between meals your teeth don't get a break from the acid attacks that occur when you eat. Also, limit sugary treats to meal times, rather than between meals. Watch what you eat!! We all know the saying you are what you eat but were not just talking about obvious foods like sweets and soft drinks - frequent snacking on foods with hidden sugars like biscuits, crackers, cereals, chips and even dried fruit (these foods break down into sugars in the mouth) can cause acid attacks on your tooth enamel. Sugar-free gum! Studies have shown that chewing sugar-free gum for 20 minutes after eating can prompt your mouth to produce more saliva, which helps neutralise decay-causing acid attacks. BUT remember, SUGAR-FREE gum only! So there you have it, our 4 Pro Tips for the day to help fight the dental disease we all know as tooth decay may also help us with our waistlines too, !

19.01.2022 World Diabetes Day 2020 Some important tips to help diabetics prevent oral health problems with diabetes are Keep blood glucose levels within target (if you are unsure of what your target levels should be, talk to your diabetes educator, diabetes specialist or GP)... Follow a healthy diet or see an Accredited Practicing Dietitian for assistance. Clean your teeth and gums twice a day with tooth paste that contains fluoride. It is also a good idea to gently brush your tongue each day to remove bacteria and keep your mouth fresh and healthy. Use dental floss or interdental cleaners every day to clean between your teeth. Avoid a dry mouth by drinking plenty of water and chewing sugar-free gum to stimulate saliva production. Biotene has a range of dry mouth products that may help as well as GC Dry mouth gel from your dental practice. Don’t smoke. First aid for a hypoglycaemic event is sweetened foods or drinks to quickly increase the blood glucose levels frequent intake of these can lead to tooth decay, therefore ensure you rinse your mouth with water once the hypo is resolved. See your dentist every six months (even if you wear dentures, you are still at risk of some oral diseases). It is important patients with diabetes inform their dentist and outline the names of all prescribed and over-the counter tablets and medicines being taken. See more

17.01.2022 STORY TIME Brought to you by: DR ALEX Hope everyone has been staying safe these past months. I had actually taken two weeks off in March for a holiday but that didn't end up happening obviously. Instead, I had six weeks off work which wasn't too bad at all! Though I didn't get up to much, I did try to keep up with some exercise by playing "Just Dance" on the Nintendo Switch. Overall, it was nice to have a nice, long break but I'm glad to be back at work. Stay safe everyo...ne! Over the next few weeks we're going to be continuing to share OUR stories and experiences from this COVID-19 time period! We want YOU to share YOUR stories with us too, so comment below with some of your stories We've all faced many changes, challenges, possibly shed a few tears...but we're all in this together and as we slowly rebuild and adapt to the "new normal" our Redbank Dental family will always remain here for YOU, our wonderful community . 15.01.2022 STORY TIME and GIVEAWAY TIME Brought to you by: KAYE 2020, everyone was thinking 2020 would have to be better than 2019 and welcomed it with open arms, who'd have thought hey! ... I work at an incredible dental practice with incredible people! I am proud to say that even though we went to level 3 restrictions we stayed open on a very limited bases to see emergency patients only, pandemics may strike but dental emergencies didn't get the memo on that. One of the things that struck me was how quiet it was on the road, people seemed to be self distancing even in their cars also just driving around. Lines at the supermarket but everyone was being so accepting of what we needed to do. One thing that doesn't stop just because of a pandemic is our family and the care that they still need, for me my aged parents had a life changing health crisis, and juggling their requirements and work. Some might say that their requirements was good enough reason not to go to work but I whole heartily believe the precautions put in place would keep us all safe, and gladly it did. So proud to be a member of this dental team, so proud of Queenslanders, so proud of Aussies, I think we've done pretty damn well, congrats all. So stay tuned, we look forward to sharing more of our experiences together! Giveaway: Oral B 9000 Electric Toothbrush! How to enter? Show us some love! interact with this post to be in to win! Winner will be drawn Monday 6th July 2020

15.01.2022 Covid-19 has created a lot of uncertainty in our community! Understandably, people are staying away from the places they used to visit freely before the pandemic hit. Our Practice is a little different to other places, here's why: We protect ourselves and our patients from infectious diseases everyday.... We follow the Infections Guidelines recommended by the Australian Dental Association. We autoclave all of our instruments and handpieces after each patient. We use single-use disposable items where possible (many if which are also biodegradable to continue to be as eco-friendly as possible ) We are asking all our patients to stay home if they are feeling unwell or have travelled recently. We have hand sanitiser readily available for all to use, before and after appointments. We have removed all magazines from our waiting area to minimise any possible transmission.

11.01.2022 STORY TIME and GIVEAWAY TIME Brought to you by: DR NICK and DR RANJIT Wow what a wild ride 2020 has been for our dental family ...so far! Hopefully only getting better from here.... Our dental practice went from a bustling hive of activity for our wonderful staff and patients to only seeing those in pain. Even those could have only limited treatment. I must say I am so proud of our practice for staying open and continuing to treat patients in pain. Many practices closed, and this was totally understandable. Im sure we all feared the virus, I certainly did. If it wasnt for the community-mindedness of our staff, we would have closed and waited it out at home. We certainly did spend more time than usual at home though, and there were many positives in that. We spent more time together as a family, enjoying the simple things like cooking, gardening, building Lego, playing board games and riding our bikes! It was a stressful time but there were many good moments too. We wish everyone the best as we continue to navigate these strange times, and lets use this to remind ourselves of whats really important, our family, our friends and our health. Looking forward to seeing everyone of our patients in the future. Nick and Ranjit Baveas Over the next few weeks we're going to be continuing to share OUR stories and experiences from this COVID-19 time period! So stay tuned, we look forward to sharing more of our experiences together! GIVEAWAY: Oral B 9000 electric toothbrush, winner to be drawn Monday 6th July - to be in to win, simply show us some love! Interact with this post to go in the draw!

10.01.2022 STORY TIME Brought to you by: LINDSEY Crazy times has been my interpretation of what we all experienced back a few months ago, I don't know how else to explain it and I never thought something like this would ever happen in my lifetime.... Back in March as the restrictions hit us hard I found solace in getting out into the sun and doing some gardening. My gardens had never looked better and it was such a nice distraction from all the media hype. I also did a bit of cooking (when I could obtain all ingredients amongst all the panic buying) and trying new dishes with the help of my partner Trent who is a Chef. I'm originally from England so I was also hearing a lot from my family and friends as the situation escalated over there and that played on my mind a lot. I was chatting to my Nan who is back in England and she was telling me she had been knitting and crocheting to try and keep busy. So channelling my inner Nanna Jean I grabbed a crochet hook, watched a bunch of crochet for beginners YouTube videos and off I went. I found I really enjoyed making little amigurumi animals, they took soooo long to make but it sure kept my hands busy and is now my new hobby. I still make sure I contact family back home and speak with my Nan often as it's an incredibly lonely time for her at the moment. We bought her a new phone with big speed dial buttons so she can call us anytime....she likes to call me at 4.30am forgetting all about the time difference I also appreciated the time I got to spend with my partner Trent as his work was affected also. We are both self confessed crazy cat people and have 3 kitties.....they absolutely adored having us home more and lapped up all the attention. They are all a little crazy and would do the funniest things to keep us entertained on the daily Now that we seem to be heading in the right direction it's so nice to be back at work, enjoying being around all our lovely patients and my work fam again. I even got to spend some long awaited quality time with family the past couple of weeks and walked along the beach on the sunny coast which was cold and windy but amazing to appreciate the beautiful place we get to call home Lets keep up the good work Australia and get through this together and come out of it stronger than ever

10.01.2022 Reminder to all of our patients to please advise our reception team of any cold/flu or respiratory symptoms as well as interstate travel to VIC or NSW in the last 14 days - this includes all household members!
