24.01.2022 Tonight at a special dinner at our Chancery in Forbes to farewell the Marist Brothers after 94 years of service in Wilcannia-Forbes, I presented a gift, a hand ...painted icon of our diocesan Patroness, Our Lady of Perpetual Help to Br Peter Carroll FMS Provincial of the Marist Brothers in Australia on behalf of the diocese. Today truly was a hard day saying goodbye to community of dedicated men who have worked so hard in our diocese, especially in Broken Hill, Forbes, Parkes and Bourke in the area of education. I myself was educated by the Marists at Red Bend Catholic College in Forbes and saying goodbye was one deeply personal. Despite the departure of the Brothers, as Bishop of Wilcannia-Forbes I will ensure that the charism and tradition of the Marists whos spirituality is founded on Mary Our Good and Holy Mother will always be alive and living here in the diocese. Once again, thankyou to the Marist Brothers for everything you have done over the last 94 years. May God Bless you all and may Mary Our Good Mother and Saint Marcellin Champagnat guide you each day. + Columba

21.01.2022 Celebrating 94 years of Marist Brothers Presence at the College and in the Diocese of Wilcannia Forbes Tomorrow Friday 13 November at 9.30am, a special ceremony will be held at Red Bend Catholic College Forbes, to acknowledge and celebrate 94 years of Marist Brothers presence and spirit at the College and in the Diocese of Wilcannia Forbes. The ceremony will be streamed online with some invited guests onsite to meet COVID guideline restrictions. 04.01.2022 END OF AN ERA Today Br Darren Burge, the Vice Provincial of the Marist Brothers Province of Australian, met with and informed staff that the Brothers’ community... will close at the College from the end of 2020. Sadly this will bring to an end a 94 year presence of Marist Brothers in Forbes and the Diocese of Wilcannia Forbes.
