12.01.2022 The Invisible Homeless Project! Jenni Tarrant owner of Bond Hair Religion, Bond Body and Bond Barber will be sleeping in her car, a small Holden Barina hatchba...ck, for seven consecutive nights. Starting on July 1st Jenni will be sleeping, eating and living in her car to help raise awareness for those who are less fortunate. Jenni will not use the heater, despite it being the middle of winter. She will only use a toilet and basin, no shower like a standard public bathroom. During this Jenni will still be working full time and will only be living on $20 a day. So why is Jenni doing this? To raise awareness of course, and to raise money to help the local canberra community. There are over 105,000 homeless people living across Australia, 56% are men while 46% are women. 17,845 children under the age of 10 are homeless 500 of which must sleep with no shelter. 1 in any 200 Australia’s could be homeless on any given night. So why are these people homeless? Well the largest reason for homelessness in Australia is domestic violence, being the reason for 24% of cases, while financial difficulties is second at 20%. All proceeds raised leading up to and during Jenni’s week will be used to purchase Coles and Woolworths gift cards for the women at the women’s refuge. These gift cards will be given to women when they leave the shelter so they can purchase essential items to start their new life. We will also be collecting donations in the salon that can be used and are needed at the refuge. Deodorant tampons modess pads tooth paste tooth brushes body wash razors toilet paper nappies, and baby wipes ( please only these items) There are many ways to donate and help out. We will have a collection box in the salon for any items listed above. You will be able to make cash donations as well. If you wish to use card you can donate below.
