25.01.2022 Not long to go now! Due to COVID we will be running things a little differently tomorrow. Please sign in using the QR code. There will be a statement of compliance placed with the QR code on the day but we strongly encourage you to check in using the code shown in an image here on FB if possible. We will have a short briefing and then everyone will be directed to move to the start line with seeding in mind to help with social distancing. The RD will announce over 50 min, o...ver 40, over 30, over 25 and then the fasties. Volunteers will be holding up placards showing these to assist at the start line. Pic on this post! Enjoy yourselves tomorrow this has been a long time coming !

24.01.2022 Its our 3rd anniversary!!!!! Where did that time go you say..... we know - especially when its been 6 months (14/3/2020) since we have got up early to set up our course in anticipation for our Saturday morning ritual to vollie, run & coffee. From the humble beginnings of our starting line up of 724 participants on 16 September 2017 we have enjoyed 135 events together with numbers ranging from 74 to 343 - we settled in to around 250 each week in the first quarter of 2020.... Heres a few snapshots of our last 2 anniversaries and our inaugural event - remember when it was normal to dress up and go for a run Our first anniversary theme was the number 1 - onesies were popular! Our second was superheroes. Tell us the anniversary theme you would have chosen for our 3rd ........ Thank you to everyone who has joined us over the last 3 years and a special shout out to those that make it happen - our volunteers - youre the best!!! Events: 135 Finishers: 4,738 Finishes: 24,095 Average finishers per week: 178.5 Volunteers: 405 PBs: 3,828 Average finish time: 00:34:47 Average finishes per participant: 5.1 Clubs: 232 Female record: Olivia LENNON 18:17 Event 1 (16 Sep 2017) Male record: Nathan TANNER 15:18 Event 8 ( 4 Nov 2017) Age graded record: Nathan TANNER - 90.96% 15:18 Event 8 ( 4 Nov 2017)

24.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Marc Jones Home parkrun: Redcliffe # parkruns: 75... # volunteer: 5 Why I parkrun: Initially I wasnt too sure what parkrun was, I joined up just before Redcliffe parkrun started in 2017 but it wasnt until April the following year that I actually ran one and I was hooked. The day formally known at Saturday became parkrun day. parkrun day became my benchmark run to measure my running fitness and keeping me honest in my training (I can assure you my fitness has dropped lately without parkrun). I also love getting coffee rewards at the end, lets face it who doesnt? Most memorable moment: For me I think it was when I was a pacer, encouraging others to beat their PB. At the finish line a few people said thanks for pushing them through it, that was the best. Why I volunteer: Its nice to be part of the parkrun community and to give back and make sure we can continue as a community event. Thanks for sharing Marc . Theres so many of us that now know Saturday as #noparkrunday so tomorrow we would love to hear where you ran, jogged your 5k practising the social distancing rules. Pls note that we ask you not to gather at the parkrun event site itself (nor break any government regulated distancing laws) in achieving your 5k. Profiles: Send through your parkrun profile information and a photo by PM to this page or [email protected]

23.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Lenore Home parkrun: Redcliffe # of parkruns: 41... # of times volunteered: 4 Why I parkrun: My friends ran Redcliffe parkrun when it first started in 2017 and after a few weeks I decided to join them. Like the seasons I come and go, but I always make it back and its such a great way to start the weekend! Most memorable parkrun moment: A rainy parkrun where I ran with my son and a friends daughter. We got very wet, didnt dodge the puddles and had a good laugh. Being out in the drizzling rain I loved (the squelchy socks not so much!). I volunteer at parkrun because: It wouldnt happen without all the amazing volunteers! Thanks for sharing Lenore

20.01.2022 Shout out - Its National Volunteer Week Put your hands together for all the amazing people that volunteer at parkrun timekeepers, marshals, barcode scanners, token sorters, pacers, first timers briefing, tailwalkers, photographers, finish token teams, pre-event course checker Redcliffe parkrun happens largely because of our fantastic volunteers, who are almost all regular runners like you. The weekly team of volunteers are led by a small group of parkrun enthusiasts who f...orm what we call the 'core team': the Run Directors! They make sure the event is setup and packed away each week, the results published, the tokens resorted, vests are washed and so much more. We're very grateful to the help provided by everybody, both now and in the past, who've helped make Redcliffe parkrun happen.

18.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them. For the Fallen - Laurence Binyon 1914 Lest we forget

18.01.2022 Who’s ready? We know you’re excited - and have been wondering if there was a theme to your first parkrun after nearly 8 months off. Well - there’s just so many options - but we thought let’s go with the obvious - if you have a parkrun t-shirt - then wear it loud & proud on parkrun day (formerly known as Saturday) ... Friendly reminder - Redcliffe parkrun is on an exposed path (no shade) - remember to dress appropriately for the weather - hat, sunscreen, etc - no key box - you are responsible for your belongings - water bubblers are available along the Redcliffe foreshore - the course is on a public path with many walkers/runners and bike riders that do not participate in parkrun - pls remember to keep left and be kind - parkrun happens because of its volunteers - please thank all our volunteers that don the hi-vis vests and check out the future roster and let us know if you can help out in the weeks to come https://www.parkrun.com.au/redcliffe/futureroster/ See you at 6.45am for the first timers briefing amd don’t forget your barcode

18.01.2022 When all this COVID stuff started the idea came about to publish profiles of runners at Redcliffe. I dont know if Linda came up with this from somewhere but Im gonna go along with it being Lindas idea. My profile (Brad) was published a while back and what most of you dont know (or maybe you do?)... Linda has been publishing these profiles coming in. I know that since taking over from Troy one of the best things was bringing this awesome human on board. I really apprec...iate the work she has put in and I hope you all do in these uncertain times. I give you Lindas profile: Name: Linda White # parkruns: 87 # volunteers: 45 Why I parkrun: for the coffee , community engagement all for a great cause - being healthy & happy, seeing myself and everyone else achieving their parkrun goals and for the social interactions including the parkrun tourist adventures we go on Most memorable or funniest parkrun moment: when I oversee the kids take over parkrun - kids stepping out of their comfort zones, their parents helping them learn something new and the support from all our parkrunners in seeing them achieve and having some fun. Why I volunteer: I love linking the community all for good, listening to everyones stories, seeing families keep active, supporting our parkrun community and seeing the sheer joy of someone achieving a 5k run, jog or walk when they thought they never could. And it feels great to give back

18.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Rodney Allen Home parkrun: Redcliffe # parkruns : 38... # of Volunteer: 4 One of my memorable parkrun moments would be attending Berrimba parkrun to see my sister achieve her 100th parkrun. It was a beautiful morning and although we didnt run together I was there for her start and finish. What made it more special was my sisters family supporting her fantastic achievement. The other most memorable parkrun moment was in Ireland, where I came first in my age group. I was so proud and told my Dad whom I was travelling with, escorting my aging parents. Well his comment was obviously no others running then son! Just another funny moment from family. Why I run: I enjoyed running many years ago when at secondary school and was reasonable at cross-country (selected to represent the State) and now being a bit wiser with age I realise I should have trained a bit more, rather than using it as a method to get out of school. Then, many years later I got the chance to start running again with my teenage daughter who was keen to run at a local charity event that her colleagues from school were also running. So, come the big day 4klm run / walk and strict instructions that we were to stay together no matter what! So off we went walking and running and we finally completed the loop with the winning line in sight. Well my daughter tricked me (not that I am competitive) and said, what is that happening over their Dad, and I looked and said I cant see anything, but I was talking to thin-air! My daughter had made a bolt to the finish line! Well with extreme effort and puffing I caught up and made sure she went across the line just seconds to me hot on her tail or is it toes! Well I was hooked. parkruns are a great venue for families to connect for all ages and at your own pace. Ive also experienced, like many other runners, the support and encouragement that runners give each other along my personal journey of enjoying running. I would further comment that I certainly have met a lot of inspiring and motivated people, keeping me on track and of course, the reward coffee. I volunteer because these events cant run by themselves and you get so much more back from volunteering in your local community. Thanks for sharing Rodney

Representatives of 16 different clubs took part. The event was made possible by 13 volunteers:... Bradley MITCHELL Angela PERRY Ian LYNCH Eamonn SHEALY Irene BULL Nikki PERCY Linda WHITE Adrian SAVILL Glenn JACKSON James MACDONALD Barry THOMSON Naylya KURMYKOVA Maddi SCHAFER Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Redcliffe parkrun Results Page. https://www.parkrun.com.au/redcliffe/results/weeklyresults/ The future volunteer roster opportunities are available here - let us know if you can help out. https://www.parkrun.com.au/redcliffe/futureroster/ Thanks for joining us at Redcliffe parkrun - see you next week

16.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Gaye Hutch Home parkrun: Redcliffe # parkruns: 99... # volunteer: 20 Why I parkrun: Initially I participated in parkrun to improve fitness. However with the current restrictions I realise I enjoy the connection with the people. Laughing and chatting pre and post event and having a coffee at 'The Pavillion'. Most memorable moment: The morning the dolphin appeared as we marshalled at the starting post. Why I volunteer: because it is fun, the people are friendly and parkrun is free relying on volunteers to promote this wonderful event. Thanks for sharing Gaye - another celebratory #100 when we return. Send in your parkrun profile if you want to play

16.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Judy Watson Home parkrun: North Lakes # of parkruns: 105... # of times volunteered: 115 Why I parkrun: I started parkrun after moving from Sydney 5 years ago as a way to meet people and I have certainly done that. Our parkrun family are the best. I look forward to seeing my friends every weekend. Most memorable or funniest parkrun moment:I finally made my 100th parkrun on 7th December and celebrated with Chris Hugo who also did his 100th on the same day. I had t shirts made for us for the occasion. My funniest memory is when I had my knee replacement, Julie had an operation on her foot and neither of us could walk very fast. Gwen had also had an operation so at the end of the run I photoshopped us injured into the triplets wagons. I volunteer at parkrun because: I love giving back and my favourite volunteer roles Photographer. I just love scanning through the photos afterwards and seeing all the jump shots. My favourite jump shot was taken at Redcliffe. Thanks for sharing Judy - we love having you and the family join us at Redcliffe. And great to see you can have some fun when injured! parkrunners: Send through your parkrun profile if you would like to play along

15.01.2022 Happy Wednesday everybody! It's hump day, which means its not too long until we're up and running again! Who's excited?!?! A few things you need to know leading into Saturday. 1. A condition of parkrun starting up in QLD (and probably other states) is that contact tracing takes place. This means you'll need to check-in using the Redcliffe parkrun QR code. We'll display these on the day, but you don't need to line up to do it, we've shared it on this post and will share it... weekly. 2. As part of COVID requirements we need to have pepole spaced out during our briefing and in general of course. Please socially distance as best as you can. Cannot stress this enough, even though there aren't any known community transmissions, this is very important. We were hoping to use the Youth Park, but this we believe is still fenced off for construction. So use as much as the surrounds as possible. 3. Familiarise yourself with the code of conduct for runners and volunteers! We're looking forward to seeing you all on Saturday!

15.01.2022 Here's the latest weekly update from Tom Williams, parkrun Chief Operating Officer Thank you for your support. We will get through this, together. http://pa...rkrun.me/9t463 #loveparkrun

05.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Leanne Blaney Home parkrun: Redcliffe # of parkruns: 189... # of times volunteered: 15 Why I parkrun: I love the community atmosphere, the challenges and touristing because I meet so many interesting people. Most memorable or funniest parkrun moment: Most memorable would be when I was overseas and went to a parkrun in Copenhagen, Denmark. We ran into a couple who were from the Sunshine Coast and we were the only ones speaking in English. Great, friendly parkrun. We have since caught up with this couple when we went and ran Kawana parkrun. I volunteer at parkrun because: I feel we need to support a volunteer run organisation so that it keeps on going. 05.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Christie Payne Home parkrun: Redcliffe # of parkruns: 25... # of times volunteered: 4 Why I parkrun: I love the atmosphere and seeing the amount of people getting out there in the fresh air, keeping healthy and making friends. parkrun is such a great community event that brings people together in a friendly, beautiful environment and being able to run along the waters edge at Redcliffe makes me appreciate where I live, everyday, and makes running so enjoyable to be able to do it with like minded people at parkrun. Most memorable or funniest parkrun moment: Most memorable would have to be my 5km PB, of 27:13, which was in Hamilton, New Zealand. I think the cooler weather contributed to the PB. I volunteer at parkrun because: I have only recently started volunteering at Redcliffe and love seeing the joy on everyones faces after they have completed a run. Seeing the positive attitude and friendly smiles of everyone with such gratitude to the vollies, makes it even more worthwhile, parkrun runs because of the volunteers and it is great to be part of this with such amazing people. Thanks for sharing Christie Payne - we do see a lot of PBs in the cooler months - well done on yours in NZ - what a fab place to parkrun.

04.01.2022 #notparkrunday 5k challenge Let us know where you ran/jogged/walked on this beautiful day in SEQ

03.01.2022 Morning parkrunners! A great day here at Suttons beach for parkrun and our post parkrun squat for token placement . First timers briefing will kick off ~6.45am ish.

03.01.2022 parkrunner profile Name: Leanne Kitson Home parkrun: Redcliffe # parkruns: 93... # volunteer: 10 Why I parkrun: One-day I saw this fit looking mum aka, Robyn, at school pickup and asked if she ran. She mentioned parkrun and the two of us have been inseparable parkrunning ever since. Our husbands and kids have even mentioned that they think we are parkrun obsessed but thats ok. One of the funniest memories of parkrun is when after 2 years I finally convinced my husband to give it ago. I had heard of some very quick km times apparently achieved back in his prime. As we started our first parkrun together my husband bolted off, no training, no warm up, 5km EASY, no worries. At the first turn he saw me as he ran back past towards Margate. "I think I have gone out too fast," he panted. I replied, "no Sh#* Einstein!!" As I comfortably ran up to the last turn and chased him down towards the finish line I actually felt sorry for him as he hobbled, hunched and hurled towards the finish at Sutton Beach. Frustrating thing was he still bet me but at least Robyn chased him down. Besides the coffee and laughs after parkrun each week, what I enjoy most is how everyone supports and encourages each other. It's a great community event and through it I have met many positive, inspiring and motivating people that I now call my friends. I volunteer because without volunteers parkrun wouldn't be possible and I certainly want parkrun at Redcliffe to continue and be available for everyone. I am really missing it atm. Thanks for sharing Leanne Kitson - and thanks to you and the family for being the southern turnaround at the kids take over parkrun at Christmas time also providing a refreshing water experience with the kids for our parkrunners
