23.01.2022 Today marks the first day of our holidays here at Red Dog Furniture. We will be back on deck from the 13th of January. We already have plenty of work to come back to which is great since taking the business on. Kylie and I would like to thank all of our customers and suppliers for their support over the last 12 months which has been our busiest year by far... in particular I'd like to acknowledge Michael Mckecknie for all the extra hours which don't go unnoticed. Also my fat...her in law for always being a phone call away. We really are a family business and there's nothing more important. The last piece delivered today was this 6000 by 1200 messmate dining table, featuring jarrah inlays and fully mitred edging. Proving that no job is to big for us to handle. 22.01.2022 Some of the greatest joys we have here at red dog furniture is watching reclaimed timber come back to life as we are working with it. Recently we were asked if we would be interested in some reclaimed timber out of a old home going heavily under renovations for a more modern look. That said timber turned out to be one of the world's most known timber species Douglas Fir or as it is more commonly known as Oregan. Not wanted this grand old timber to find its final destination i...n landfill we set out to capture the beauty within this timber with its colours rangeing from pale yellow through to Orange to a deeper reddish browns. 21.01.2022 Who doesnt love the sound of the odd vinyl lps playing. This 3.6 Mtr long full mitre grain match messmate unit is by far the biggest custom build turntable cabinet we have ever seen. Five push to open doors with adjustable shelves inside and of course that lift up door in the top for easy access to that turntable.

17.01.2022 Messmate is becoming a well known favorite Australian hardwood. It has varying colours from pale browns through to light yellows with even subtle hints of peach. It's a species rich in detail with an even texture with gum vines are a real common feature of the messmate timber. 14.01.2022 A regrettable fact for furniture in Australia is that it has become cheap mass produced imported items that generally becomes useless after a few years. While our disposable society plays a large part along with poor quality within the cheaper mass market. There is no easy solutions to this problem but we must change consumer mindset. We must start to focus on quality and long term use when we are buying furniture. We hear it all the time and i bet you have most likely said ...it yourself........they don't make it like they use to.....well that's not true at all Australia is blessed to have many world class furniture makers who create quality pieces that are made to order as per client requests and needs that will stand the test of time. Many imported furniture items are made using engineered wood that can't be sanded back or retreated, they can and well swell and rot if exposed to moisture so maybe next time you say they don't make it like they use it.....ask yourself why is this imported item so cheap??? This week we had the pleasure of restoring a 10 year old Jimmy Possum Dinning table that had been damaged by a burst water pipe in the ceiling resulting in a flooded dinning room. We think the results show why Australian made furniture is is world class and well worth a visit to your local furniture maker next time your thinking of getting some furniture. 06.01.2022 To say we have been busy here would have to be a understatement... we haven't posted anything for a while now so our apologies for that to our followers. This vanity was installed a couple of weeks ago in Harcourt to a new home. Made from sustainably sourced messmate. We have completed 6 vanities recently. So more pics to come.

All completed in house. We are still open at this point and Mick and I are doing everything we can to comply with the current climate.
