24.01.2022 CO-CREATING, WORKING & LEARNING TOGETHER | Sam Eivers, together with four of his friends from Year 11, recently visited the 2MR class to educate them on the importance of water for his Religion and Ethics (Service) project with Ms Ruthenberg. Sam created a scavenger hunt whereby the students were given clues and ran around with a Year 11 leader to find various locations where they have access to water in the Junior School. The goal was to educate the younger students of the i...mportance of water in our lives. In science the Year 2's have already been learning about the water cycle and how some countries in the world don't always have access to clean drinking water. The Year 2's are in the process of designing and constructing their own water filters to address this issue. #Cocreating #WorkingTogether #LearningTogether #ServiceLearning #ReligionandEthics #ScavengerHunt #Water #ExperienceRedeemer See more

The stories developed also needed to include identifiable Australian content in the theme, setting, characters or issue. As an award winner, the book will be read to children who are hospitalised throughout Australia being treated for cancer. Congratulations to the students for their excellent achievement! #BookInADay #HighlyCommended #Year11Students #RedeemerDifference See more
19.01.2022 ART AS KNOWLEDGE | Year 11 Visual Art students embarking on their Year 12 Unit 3 Art as Knowledge unit spent some time inspecting and documenting the history of 745 Rochedale Road by visiting Nott’s Cottage located on Redeemer’s property. This is a restored replica of the original galvanised iron cottage/shed which was once the home of Mr George Nott who first came to Rochedale in November 1931 in the midst of The Great Depression. The students were intrigued by the memorabilia of the era and by the heat inside the very small galvanised structure, a stark contrast to modern homes! #ArtAsKnowledge #RedeemerArt #VisualArt #NottsCottage #RochedaleHistory #Rochedale #ExperienceRedeemer

18.01.2022 PICNIC SHELTER CONSTRUCTION | The picnic shelters are part of the assessment program for Senior Construction students. Students work together in teams to complete the shelters. They are required to survey the site, dig the foundations (by hand), box up and pour concrete and then build the shelters. A lot of experience is gained from a project like this. Students learned to use new power tools and techniques during this project and it is evident that all have grown in confiden...ce and ability. The students worked incredibly hard and proved that no task is too small for them, particularly when they work together and support each other. At the suggestion of the students, a small plaque has been installed on each shelter with the year of construction and the names of all students involved in construction. This just goes to show how proud they are of their work! #SeniorConstruction #PicnicShelters #RealLifeExperiences #ExperienceRedeemer
