25.01.2022 Beautiful Miss Sophie had a one on one session with us to work on some issues around the home She is easily over aroused by things like the vacuum, mower, knocks at the door etc so we discussed ways to help desensitise her to the things around her that she finds scary to help create some calm around the home She was also getting a bit jealous of her brothers getting attention from mum, especially during play time, so we spoke about ways to get that under control before it... got out of hand Butter wouldn't melt in this sweet girls mouth

25.01.2022 Meet Tilly and...... Tilly! These two gorgeous girls are just 2 of our pups attending our group puppy classes Tilly the english staffy is learning play is really rewarding! Tug is a great way to build the bond between handler and dog ... Tilly the dalmatian is starting to learn the foundations of place training. Place training is useful in so many day to day activities whether it's at home or out in public and teaches the dog to stay in one spot. Being the smart girl she is, Tilly has figured out waiting on her place until released will bring big rewards

23.01.2022 Luna & Tommy Both Luna and Tommy went on their own walk and train to see where their training was up to and where we needed to go next Luna although hesitant initially leaving the house, was very excited once on our walk. She picked up loose leash skills very quickly and was happy walking by my side. Her biggest challenge is she likes to think she is the size of a rottweiler and bark at everything that moves. We checked out a lot of "scary" things during our walk and m...anaged to get all the way back home without a single bark....until the postie bike went past that is Tommy on the other hand is a very fearful boy. It took us a long time to get out of the house but once we did, he walked beautifully. We spent some time checking out a lot of things going on in the neighbourhood at a distance so he didn't become scared and then made our way home where he took himself to the couch for a nap. It takes a lot of energy for nervous dogs to process things they find scary so I was happy to see him take himself away for some quiet time to recover #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #puppytraining #obediencetraining #doggo #dogs #puppy #pet #gladstone #redefinecanine #dachshund #dachshundlove #walkandtrain

19.01.2022 Handsome Hades at it again This walk and train was a little different as the car needed some new tyres! So we explored the industrial areas of Gladstone while we waited and it didn't dissapoint! Lots of big trucks, beeping machines, fast moving flags and banners, people coming and going from shops and lots lots more. Hades even had to practice sitting still while we paid the lovely staff at Bridgestone and needless to say he was a star pupil

19.01.2022 Miss Minnie the Miniature Dachshund is a little girl with a lot of attitude! Step one on the list of behaviours to resolve is barking. Who knew such a big bark could come out of such a tiny dog Barking is one of the most common callouts for the Dachshund breed so if you are thinking of getting one as a pet, be sure to enrol in a good puppy school to seek assistance asap ... Next lesson we will be tackling loose leash walking, yes that is right, not only does she sound like a German Shepherd she thinks she is a husky as well and pulls mum and dad around all over the place!

19.01.2022 Bentley We were called in to help Bentleys family with some typical puppy behaviours like toilet training, stealing items around the house, being rough with the kids and turning his listening ears off! Bentley is a 14 week old Bichon Frise x Maltese so has well and truly settled himself into the home and is trying to push boundaries to see how far he can get but also dictate when he gets attention ... He is a smart little cookie with a really fun go getter attitude so we tapped into that with our training. We showed his family how to communicate with him properly so he knew how to turn those listening ears back on and pay attention. We also added some more structure into the home which is really important for both young puppies that are learning but also young children that are learning how to interact with their new puppy We had a lot of fun with Bentley and can’t wait to see him around town being a model doggy citizen #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #puppytraining #obediencetraining #doggo #dogs #puppy #pet #gladstone #redefinecanine #maltesecross #bichonfrisé #bichonxmaltese

16.01.2022 Mr Hades out and about on one of his walk and trains The focus of this session was learning to sit still....something that isn't in this young chaps nature! Although early days he tried his hardest and got a gold star for his efforts ... Each session we are building upon the foundations we laid the lesson before

16.01.2022 Greg and Lacey, two of the most chilled out pups I think I have ever met This duo are brother and sister and their mum had me come in to kickstart their training journey. Can you pick their breeds? We covered a lot of information from communication systems to socialisation and everything in between ... We often say that mental enrichments tires out your dog three times faster than physical exercise and proof is in the pictures, before and after training I will note however that physical exercise is just as important so be sure to balance out your dogs life with both

15.01.2022 This spunky boy is Viper! Viper is an ex working dog who has now been rehomed into a pet home and is struggling to comprehend that not everything is a threat any more It turns out that although super confident in his working role, Viper is quite under confident and struggles to relax in his new role of loved family member ... We are working together to build a more confident boy and utilising some of our own dogs to set up controlled environments for Viper to work through at his own pace Stay tuned as we expect big things from this handsome boy

15.01.2022 Newt & Snoop Newt is a 1.5 year old Dachshund x Koolie and Snoop is his little brother a 7 month old Maltese x Poodle We were called in to help Newt with some over excited behaviours around the pool, walking out in public with both pulling and reacting to other dogs as well as just overall hyperactivity ... Newt is a very interesting mix of breeds, both of which are extremely smart and busy dogs. We talked about genetics and how we can tap into his brain to tire him out a bit so he can relax. We also spoke about some impulse control activities to help guide him to making better choices When it came to walking Newt definitely led the way and his younger handler was struggling with his best mate. Newt picked up loose leash walking relatively quickly but his reactivity to other dogs will take some time. Conveniently the neighbours were taking their dog for a walk while we were learning so we got to put it all into practice during the lesson and he did really well for his first time with the distraction of another dog #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #puppytraining #obediencetraining #doggo #dogs #puppy #pet #gladstone #redefinecanine #dachshundx #kooliex

14.01.2022 Miss Minnie came on a walk and train with me recently to test where she was at with her reactivity and leash skills Needless to say her pawrents have done an amazing job with her so far as she was able to enjoy a lovely stroll along the waterfront without all the noise she would usually display Her leash skills were lacking initially but some reminders of where the best place is to be and she was walking like an angel

12.01.2022 Hades Hades has found a bit more of his brave lately and we have been able to move outside of our normal walking zones and incorporate some areas with more distractions He even managed some down time to switch off and enjoy hanging out on the grass together to give him a break from the heat. Previously this would have never been possible as he did not understand how to relax ... #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #puppytraining #obediencetraining #doggo #dogs #puppy #pet #gladstone #redefinecanine #germanshepherd #gsd #gsdlife #germanshepherddog #germanshepherdsofinstagram

11.01.2022 Minnie Miss Minnie came for another walk and train This walk we focused on confidence building and making use of all of nature’s obstacles to help Minnie overcome any anxiety she may face in uncertain places ... Dogs much like humans receive a big hit of that happy feel-good hormone we call dopamine when they overcome obstacles so every time Minnie conquered a task, she felt extra pleased with herself and got lots of rewards as well She even walked past every dog without a single bark! #dog #dogtraining #dogtrainer #puppytraining #obediencetraining #doggo #dogs #puppy #pet #gladstone #redefinecanine #dachshund #minidachshund #walkandtrain

09.01.2022 Due to overwhelming demand we are not taking any further expressions of interest for our next basic obedience class Expressions of Interest We have had a number of requests of late to start a basic obedience group class ... So, we are in the process of writing up an amazing class plan! What we would love to know is what you would like to learn in the group class to ensure we are giving everyone as much help as possible? If you would like to register your interest in our upcoming group class please get in touch via Facebook messenger, email or mobile

08.01.2022 Bailey & Zoey These two beautiful souls are rescue pups who needed some help walking on lead so mum didn't end up being dragged down the street! Both pups are only 6 months old but are Rottweiler x and German Shepherd x so have lots of growth spurts to go ... When working with two dogs we always recommend training each dog individually in order to successfully identify any problems that need to be addressed. Once each dog is completing the task successfully you can then train them together

08.01.2022 Beautiful Miss Sophie out on a walk and train This time we invited mum out to watch Sophie in action so she was able to see what Sophie is really capable of to help boost mums confidence in her handling Sophie is fear reactive to most things due to lack of exposure and confidence so you will see us hanging out quite often just watching the world go by and when she is feeling brave walking past all those "scary" people

05.01.2022 Boom Boom is back! He was struggling out on walks due to other dogs being much more exciting then mum We did a walk and train session with Boom Boom and included one of our personal dogs Jill to help be a distraction so we could see for ourselves just how distracted he got. Well needless to say his listening ears were non existant at the start but we saw some progression towards the end of the session ... We gave mum some homework to work on at home before taking Boom Boom out in public again that will help bring his focus back to her

04.01.2022 Guznic This stunning boy had signed up to our puppy class at 14 weeks old. After the first lesson it was obvious he was far to advanced for the class so we shifted him to a one on one session We spoke to his parents about loose leash walking, communication and how to behave inside the house. Guzinc took all of this in his stride as his parents had already put so much time and effort into training him ... Such a stunning boy and an absolute pleasure to train and we can't wait to see him out and about doing the breed proud

03.01.2022 September puppy class has been dismissed Congratulations to Mabo, Tilly, Stanley, Koko, Tilly and their people It’s been a blast watching you all grow in confidence and learn how to be model doggy citizens ... Looking forward to seeing you all out and about in the big wide world
