You see, we’ve been supplying the food trade since 1933 - delivering for all these years to restaurants, cafes, hotels, clubs and takeaways. So we are very used to serving businesses.but home delivery is something completely new to us. ... 02.01.2022 Vale Chris Sofianos. We are very saddened to announce the passing of one of our former directors, Mr Chris Sofianos. Chris, along with Arthur Cominos, was the second generation of owners in our business. Together they oversaw the growth of Red Funnel from a seafood business in Wharf Road, Newcastle to the full Food Service business we are today. It was on the foundation that Chris and Arthur built, of many, many hours of hard work, leadership, drive and a passion for doing ...things right, that this company was grown. It was a unique and enduring partnership. Chris was the driving force of the operational side of the business, helping to forge the Red Funnel culture of always looking after the customer. While Chris took care of logistics Arthur looked after Sales and the business side of things. It was a partnership of mutual respect, understanding and shared values. All of us who worked with or have known Chris, will remember a caring family man, a hard worker and someone who always had a listening ear for those who needed help. He was a man of few words but those words he shared were thoughtful and considered. Chris is survived by his loving wife Niki, his sons George and Peter (who are current directors of Red Funnel) their wives Petty and Judy, 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Chris, you will always be remembered with love and gratitude by all of us at Red Funnel. Rest In Peace.
