Frida loved Mexican Folk Artflattened forms and bright coloursso students have created their own Folk Art interpretations of Frida. You will agree that they are all so colourful and individual. Frida Kahlo placed objects in her paintings to express her feelings and her culture. She loved animals and owned many pets. Students chose symbols to include in their paintings. 14.01.2022 Paintings of "Chairs" from 2018. Chairs have always been a popular subject for painters. Masters like Van Gogh and Matisse as well as contemporary masters like David Hockney, the chair has been a constant source of study. www.redgateartstudio.com.au

14.01.2022 Students viewed the paintings by Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) based on the theme Seated Figures with Still Life. Many of these paintings included a seated figure behind a table in the foreground with an assortment of still life objects. Bonnard also included animals in many of these paintings. As a contemporary example we looked at the work by artist Sandi FitzGerald, looking at some of the similarities in composition. www.redgateartstudio.com.au
