10.01.2022 Helpful Pet Fact: Your new rabbit is likely to be nervous. For the first few days make sure you talk to him regularly before introducing your hand into the cage or stroking him. When he is used to this you can then pick him up. Use both hands, one under the chest with the rabbit’s front legs on either side of your fingers, the other resting on his neck and back. Hold him close to your body so he feels safe and wont fall. Once they are used to you, rabbits love being handled.

08.01.2022 Kittens ae cute, but..... a lot of trouble!!! We also have this beautiful girl, about 8 months old, and just had her first litter! Jessie is a little bit thin from raising her kittens, and needs some love and attention to pick up her condition, but you can see from the pics just how loving and smoochy she is!! Call in and see her!

08.01.2022 Caring for your pet bird Birds love attention and like to be involved in the family, with this in mind you should place your Bird’s cage where it can be with the family ie. Lounge room or kitchen. An ideal location for your bird should include filtered sunlight.... You should clean your bird’s cage once to twice a week using either cage cleaner spray or avi-safe. Mites and Lice: Some of symptoms for mites and lice can be; poor feather condition, continual scratching and bald patches. We recommend spraying your bird and cage on a monthly basis with bird mite and lice spray. Always hold the bottle at least 30cm away from your bird and avoid spraying directly into your bird’s face. Feather Plucking: Feather plucking occurs mainly from boredom, emotional stress, poor diet, lack of bathing and illness. We recommend contacting Redgum Vet if your bird shows any sign of pulling out its own feathers to determine the cause. We recommend leaving the radio on as a low background noise when you are not at home to prevent your bird from being lonely. Toys: Birds are quite intelligent so you need to occupy their mind to prevent them from becoming bored and selfdestructive. You should place no less than three toys in your bird’s cage but not too many to clutter and reduce space in the cage. Diet: Your bird will be happiest with a varied diet. There should be a fresh source of fruit and vegetables provided and replaced daily. Seed can be fed as a treat and pellets should be supplied daily to ensure your bird is receiving a complete and balanced diet.

06.01.2022 Ever wondered just what breeds make up your dog? Carmela did.... little Scar was sold to her as a Jug (Jack Russell x Pug), but she always wondered. So, she ran the DNA test on her - all it takes is a little blood test ..... wait about 6 weeks for the results... and whamoo! You know exactly what makes up your dog - back to the great-grandparents! And in Scar's case - she is exactly what she is supposed to be! Pretty much all Pug with a little mix of Jack Russell! Want to satisfy your own curiosity? Call us to find out more!

05.01.2022 Need some Inspiration?

03.01.2022 Do you have a husky, retriever, Pomeranian or cavalier and notice it shedding a lot of fluff? These dogs have a double coat and require a shedless every 3 months to help the dogs lose that seasonal coat. Benefits include helping the dog insulate itself better during summer months and less fluff in your homes! For breeds like Maltese, poodles and shih tzu we recommend a full groom every 6 to 8 weeks which prevents matting, soiling around the rear end, grass seeds and make them feel pampered & pretty. Here are some before and after photos of a shedless on a husky and a full groom on a Maltese shih tzu. Contact us on 8642 3308 to find out more about shedless and full grooms and book in.

03.01.2022 More Kittens?? You bet! All the males are desexed and ready to go. 1 lonely little girl in this lot (the full black and fluffy), will be a bit longer before she can be desexed and go home. These will go quick!

02.01.2022 Helpful Guinea Pig Care Guide: Guinea pigs can be kept outdoors all year round or indoors if you prefer. If kept outside, they should be kept in a weatherproof hutch that is raised off the ground and away from the wind. Feeding: We recommend feeding your guinea pig a rabbit and guinea pig mix along with fresh fruit and vegetables. You will need to add a... vitamin and mineral supplement to your guinea pigs water as guinea pigs cannot produce their own vitamin c. Worming: Your guinea pig will require worming every three months just like cats and dogs. The small animal wormer can be given to your guinea pig by mixing it with his water or by drops directly to the mouth. Grooming: You should start grooming your guinea pig from an early age so they become used to the feeling. We recommend regular brushing with a slicker or bristle brush. Fit & Healthy Guinea Pigs: A healthy guinea pig will be alert with bright clear eyes, dry nostrils and a clean and shiny coat. The droppings should be small, firm pellets. Signs of illness are a dull, dirty coat, loss of appetite, skin sores, loose droppings, or a runny nose. Poor hygiene is a common cause of illness. If these symptoms are present you should consult your vet. See more
