25.01.2022 The @sunshinecoastsurffilmfest Surf Art Show is still on display until the 15th of July. Gallery hours are 10 to 2 Tues to Fri and other times by appointment. This one is really cool because you'll have the chance to design, carve and print your own re-usable stamps. All materials supplied, and you get to keep the stamps so that you can go home and print to you heart's content! 01.01.2022 I titled this painting "Resilience" because the rocks constantly withstanding the battering of the ocean become a metaphor for life. . It existed as a sketch first, and the day I did the sketch was a day of battering. Nothing spectacular, but just the constant waves of family breaking in the pre-school rush, and the usual challenges of running a small business. . Then when I went to seek solice in a walk on the rocks I slipped and landed smack-bang on my back incredibly un...graciously. So I felt the need to celebrate the feeling of being battered but not broken with a sketch of the nearby headland. . The painting became a contemplation of the formative nature of batterings. How they shape us, swamp us, beat us, but with the strength given us we can accept the scars, even see their beauty, and continue to stand. . .
