24.01.2022 "STORM" 50ft Gentleman's Cruiser was currently slipped here at Redland City Marina. The owners of STORM are regular customers since 2007 when local company, 'QLD Shipwright', completed a full restoration. The hull is made out of spotted gum and for the interior fit out, Australian Red Cedar and Coach Wood was used. In between the planks was re splined with celery top pine and laid with 2000g epoxy fibreglass. The decks are fashioned from Australian White Beech and the top b...oard walks and windows were completed with Teak. This time Storm came up on the slipway for some maintenance, a fresh coat of International Awlcraft antifouling, all running gear was stripped to bright bronze and International Interprotect was applied with Ultra 2 antifouling. Insulation was replaced in the engine room and various paint touchups around the boat. She is a classical boat with so much beauty and QLD Shipwrights has thoroughly looked after all maintenance needs over the years.

24.01.2022 Have you seen the latest River to Bay Straddie Safari tours? The first of their four locally-built vessels was launched just over a week ago and named 'Kabul', meaning carpet snake - totem ancestor of the Noonuccal people - in the Jandai language. These vessels can travel at up to 45 knots and carry up to 30 people, increasing tourism to our beaches and also teach these visitors of our local history. On alternate days, these tours will head to Moreton Bay for an island hoppin...g adventure. What are your thoughts on the increased tourism in our bay? 13.01.2022 Happy New Year everyone!

11.01.2022 Luke Haimes, from Haimes Homes brought "Sidetracked II" in to Shipwrights QLD to get various gelcoat repairs all over the boat as well as usual boat maintenance including antifoal, prop speed, anodes and a full cut, polish and waxing inside and out. The stickers and stripes, which where dark blue, were removed and replaced with silver ones by their resident sticker guy, Mark. Also, a new flooring (Deck Armour) was installed by the boys from Deck Armour. The team at Shipwright...s QLD said this boat was a big job and needed the whole of their crew (Ben Whiteway, Regan Roberts, Joe Lewis and Kym Gross) to work on all aspects of the job to get her back in the water on time and looking ever so nice. All trades that were involved with "Sidetracked II" are based in the Redland City Marina - the one stop marina for all boating repairs.

07.01.2022 Have you ever wondered why your boat isn't performing the way it used to? Prop speed assists significantly in keeping marine growth off the running gear of the boats. If growth builds up, the pitch on the prop can go from optimal to non-functional, if it's not kept clean. The team at Shipwrights QLD make sure all of their boats are done to the highest of standards when prop speeding running gear. This is done so that next time you come out, you still have clean running gear w...hich in turn, gives better fuel performance and overall power for the boat - meaning in the long run, this will save you on fuel money. Give the guys a call on 0419 652 753 to get your boat back to optimal performance!
