25.01.2022 Trails status- Bayview and Redland Track Park trails remain closed to the public and will be reassessed later in the week. Given the amount of rainfall experienced, many lower lying trails remain waterlogged as water drains from the soil profile. Please be patient and observe closures. Councils track and trail network has sustained damage and erosion in many areas across the city. It will take some time for officers to assess damage and carry out repairs. When trails reopen, trail users should exercise caution and expect to find fallen trees, exposed roots or other hazards. We thank you for patience and observing trail closures. Council will inform users as soon as it is possible to reopen trails.

25.01.2022 Hi RTP friends All known trees are now cleared. Hammer x1 - CLEARED ... Downpipe at the very end where it hits fire road before Luge. - CLEARED (no photo) Platypus x1 - CLEARED Pine Neddle Shoot x1 - CLEARED Caution at all bridge locations ( Platypus, Downpipe and Hillard Squeeze). Its great the trails are different now, but ride with some caution until youre used to the new conditions. Nothing too serious, just helpful bit of info. I did have a bit of ride, but with saw strapped to my back pack. I might have to give the trails a whirl next week . Happy riding .... For me, time for a or two.... Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator Previous info.... Avoid Cinder until it dries more, 2 deep mud sections getting torn up. YES PLEASE AVOID FOR A COUPLE DAYS Trees down as follows. 23.01.2022 Good new horse riders. There is a shovel at the horse manure bin at the carpark.

23.01.2022 Warning. Large tree down on Pool Shark. 1/3 way down, due to style of trail it may be in blind spot. Tree will be removed as soon as possible, cheers Dean... RTP Trailcare Coordinator See more

21.01.2022 Update. Trailer found. Vehicle still missing

20.01.2022 There are so many benefits from trails and natural areas.

20.01.2022 Hi RTP Friends A quick reminder that trail care will be this weekend (Sunday). This may be the last one for the year, depending on the outcome of Sunday's activities.... Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator

19.01.2022 Good news everyone. Council will be reopening the Redland trackpark and Bayview this afternoon ready for the weekend. Enjoy the trails!

18.01.2022 Hi RTP friends FYI- Went for a quick ride this morning. Tree down on Candy (near Dicey entrance). Most other trails appear ok, but like always, let us know with a post.... Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator

17.01.2022 The exit road and gate is open for use at the Bayview Conservation Area- day use area (the carpark) as was originally intended and designed to meet safety and user needs and site function. Please follow signage and use the exit road to exit the site. Do not use entry road to exit.

17.01.2022 Hi RTP friends A hard working member of the MTB community had his shuttle run trailer and vehicle stolen from Beaudesert area. Please keep an eye out & report to police ... Cheers

16.01.2022 Hi RTP friends Long time, no post. Hope you are all keeping well, during this unusual time. Trail care update:... I have been asked lately why there hasn't been any trailcare dates being listed. Basically I am waiting on the official approval from Redland City Council officers. This has NOT been issued and will not be before July 10 ( hopefully earlier due to recent changes by Qld Government on COVID19 restrictions). Once I have this (I am keeping an close contact with RCC), I will be able to organise a Trailcare event for RTP, with correct Covid19 protocols to keep you, our valued volunteer or general user of the trails, safe as possible. My hope is that I will have a first resumed official trail care by mid July (or next couple weeks.) I will let you as soon as possible when this happens. Current trail conditions: I have noticed a significant increase in the use of beloved trails and I welcome those who are new or are discovering the trails within short distance of our council CBD. The temptation to short cut trails has become too much evident and unfortunately a lot of volunteer time may be directed at that and not maintaining the current high level or our trails. Simple message, keep to the trail! Thanks for understanding. All trails are running extremely well, and thankfully show minimal signs of stress due to extra visitation. Hope to see you soon, stay safe and enjoy the trails at your doorstep. Cheers RTP Trailcare Coordinator Dean

16.01.2022 Hi RTP friends Well hasnt the rain been good!!! Redland Track Park and Bayview has received much needed rainfall in last 2-3 weeks. Even though the sun is starting to come out, there are possible storms expected in the next few days.... In saying that Redland City Council will keep the tracks closed for time being. Signs are at entrances. They will assess over the next few days and advise when they can open again. Thank you to those with a social conscious and empathy to the volunteers, that give up their free time for you to enjoy these areas. I can honestly say there only a handful that do this. Trailcare for this month (obviously), has been cancelled, we will start again in March. Have a nice weekend. Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator https://www.facebook.com/716781691677620/posts/3053903934632039/?d=n

15.01.2022 Could horse riders please be thoughtful of the facilities and other users at Bayview Conservation Area day use area and put their horse droppings in the manure bin provided. Council has gone to the trouble and expense to provide a manure bin (with signage) for horse riders to use.

14.01.2022 Hi Folks FYI, one of our riders this morning noticed a large tree down on Firing Line. With these occasional gusty winds & touch of rain (and along time without it), there may be some trees coming down.... Please let us know, and well let RCC know for the big ones or have Trailcare look at. Either way, take care, as there may be more branch debris on the trails. Cheers Dean Trailcare Coordinator

13.01.2022 Hi RTP friends Well a huge day for me. It has been confirmed RTP Trailcare will now have a dedicated trailer for all our work within the track park. I thank RATS Cycling Club, for their dedication to the trail care program and supporting local MTB and all trail users, within the Redlands area.... I can’t wait and hope all volunteers join me in thanking the Rats Cycling Club on their contribution to our trails. Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator

12.01.2022 Hi RTP friends A friendly reminder our last Trailcare for the year is tomorrow. With that a couple things of note. 1. Due to current dry & hot conditions, I will be cooking sausages/onions on BBQ at home first thing in the morning then bring in, for us to enjoy. We certainly dont want to add to the current bushfire situation. Thanks for your understanding.... 2. Due to good interest for Trailcare (thank you ), if you have a leaf rake or small saw/pruning tools bring them along , I will have some extra trail to clean up after recent strong winds. The weather will be a little cooler than today, but do bring a hat, water, wear a summer smart clothing and closed shoes. I will have cold bottled water and a 15L water tank for anyone who runs out. See you in the morning Cheers Dean Trailcare Coordinator

12.01.2022 Trails at Bayview and Scribbly Gums Conservation Areas are open again as of this morning. Signs are being removed currently. Council thanks users for their patience with the closures. Please get this information out to your networks. Thankyou also to those adhering to the closures. Unfortunately there is plenty of damage/evidence that some users have ignored closures and continued to ride wet/boggy/muddy tracks. Notable damage has occurred on Cinder, Swamp track, Flow Control and Carwash at Scribbly Gums and damage from tyres has also been observed on trails such as Chicken run and Chicken pump at Bayview. Some known fallen trees have been cleared from tracks and trails, please let Council know of trees that need chainsaw crews to attend to.

11.01.2022 Good News Everyone! Bayview and RTP will be reopening today!!. There may still be some trails with damp spots. Please be gentle or avoid these areas if possible while they harden up. Trail users should exercise caution and expect to find fallen trees, exposed roots, ruts or other hazards in both single trail and fire trails. It will take some time for officers to assess damage and carry out all repairs. In the meantime, it would be helpful if users could stop and throw small debris off the trails and report bigger trees (that would need a saw) to Council.

04.01.2022 Hi RTP friends Council has advised us the Redland Track Park and Bayview has been closed due to recent rain. Signage has been placed at entrances. Please observe Councils recommendation to prevent more work for volunteers in future. Thanks. Note: Any comments relating to Redland City Council operations should be directed to their website or Facebook page. ... This page is run by volunteers and cannot answer or represent Council directions. Secondly, I was planning to run a Trailcare this Sunday and some volunteers may have already received an email. I decided to postpone due to rain and current closure. A new email will be sent for next week. Hope to see you next week. Cheers Dean RTP Trailcare Coordinator

03.01.2022 Dear all, due to the recent rain Council has closed all tracks and trails at Scribbly Gums Reserve (Cleveland Track Park) and Bayview at Redland Bay. The reserves have had signs placed at all main entry points to these two reserves. Conditions will be monitored and if conditions change and the tracks are able to be reopened a follow-up post will be distributed. The Bayview carpark and staging area is closed (front gates locked) to restrict access during track closures.

03.01.2022 Update on trail closures: MTB trail assessments were undertaken yesterday in regards to reopening of Scribbly Gums and Bayview Conservation Areas. Due to low lying areas still remaining damp/boggy/muddy, Councils Conservation team have made the decision that trails will remain closed at this stage. The areas will be monitored over coming days with the hope that trails can be opened ASAP.

02.01.2022 Everyone, could you please share this media advice from Council. Just in case you are planning to use the trails, Bayview will be closed during planned burns. The first of these is happening this Thursday so please avoid the reserve. Media advisory Bayview Conservation Park to close during planned burns. First burn is to occur near Sorceress trail. Redland City Councils Parks and Conservation crews will soon be conducting planned burns in Bayview Conservation Park, Redland... Bay. The burns are currently scheduled for Thursday 23, Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 April 2020. However, the dates may change depending on the weather and conditions at the time, and the community will be advised through Councils website and social media. For public safety, Bayview Conservation Park will be closed to all residents and visitors during the works. Signage indicating the closure will be in place at entry points and will be removed when the park is safe for the public to enter. Planned burns, which are done to reduce fire hazards and improve ecological outcomes, are deemed by Queensland Health to be an essential service; and Council crews will be adhering to all social distancing and hygiene requirements under current pandemic control measures. Council appreciates the burns may cause some inconvenience, but all attempts will be made to limit any smoke hazards from the work. People affected by smoke are advised to stay indoors and keep doors and windows closed. Planned burns help keep the Redlands Coast community safe by reducing fire danger; they also provide conditions essential for the regeneration of native plants. For information about Councils planned burns program, visit Councils website or contact Council on 3829 8999. See more
