17.01.2022 27/11/14 That date will forever be remembered as a truly dark day for this game, forcing us to confront the very real reality that the sport can, quite literall...y, kill. Phil Hughes was damn good. I doubt anyone who saw him play would say otherwise, and I have little else to say about his talent. It was enough to win him the fabled baggy green cap that so many of us covet, and that alone speaks volumes. His death serves as a stark reminder that life is precious and, above all, fragile. Covid has highlighted this, but the scale of it all perhaps desensitises a person to the impacts - the individual losses are lost as the numbers pile up. This, however, doesn’t. Every year, Phil Hughes is a reminder that every life lost is felt keenly by those around them, and a reminder that it can all be snatched away so quickly. Treasure those close to you. Life is too short to waste time taking them for granted. That’s what I took away from this day 6 years ago, and I hope many of you did too. We mourn the player, know little of the man, and acknowledge what can be taken out of his tragic death. Rest In Peace, Phil.

10.01.2022 VICTORIA POINT SHARKS ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING - SUNDAY 13TH DECEMBER 2020 - 10:00AM The Victoria Point Sharks Sporting Club will be holding its AGM on 13th December. We would like as many Sharks Cricket members to attend to vote for the next Committee and show support for the Club. Our Club Treasurer Mr. Tony Norton has sat on the Sporting Club Committee for the past 12 months and is nominated again for 2021. Tony has plyed his astute business acumen to help guide the Sporting... Club (and our Cricket Club) through what has been arguably the most difficult of times for any businesses in our lifetime. Tony's financial smarts will be invaluable for the success of not only the Sporting Club but Redland Sharks Cricket Club throughout 2021 (and beyond). We please ask for you to attend and vote for Tony for the 2021 Committee. Come down, grab a drink, have a vote and stay on for a meal in the bistro! Your vote is important and does make a difference. 07.01.2022 Congrats to Will Souter who was selected as wicketkeeper for the Met East side participating at the State School Boys Cricket Championship this week. Will’s Mum Renee sent through this note on how he has been going. Thanks Renée for the update and what you do on the Committee for our club. Will is having a great time. Opening the batting and keeping. Just wanted to send a thank you to all the amazing Sharks coaches and supporters who have helped his cricket journey progress.... We wouldn’t be here without our Redland Sharks family Best batting so far 43 (not out), 2 days down and 3 to go GO WILL !!
