24.01.2022 Hi everyone, I am so pleased to let you know that we can now return to CONTACT PARTNER DANCE INSTRUCTION. The dance classes will be open to all whether you are from the same household or not and there will be some guide lines for us to follow. It's the intention of Redlands Latin Dance to operate under the QLD Governments Covid-19 Safe Check List and have signed a Statement of compliance. To all my dancers and to others intending to come to our classes please visit the Redlan...ds Latin Dance website (Events page) for the basic guide lines of attendance. Beginning this week we have decided to revise many of our styles of dance, teaching beginner steps the first week. Then week commencing 21st July we will begin lessons with Bachata and Rumba on both Tuesday and Wednesday. Clubs are still not allowing dancing so we will continue to teach at Thorneside Hall and Wellington Point Hall. Please remember to bring your own chair, towel and drink bottle due to COVID restrictions. Hands sanitisers will be supplied. Hoping to see you on the dance floor ready to dust off some cobwebs. Lorna, Paul, Bill & Anne. See more
23.01.2022 An amendment to the last post, it should have said February not March.
22.01.2022 We would firstly like to wish everyone a happy and prosperous New Year willed with lots of fun and happy memories. Secondly, below you will find the dances we will be teaching from 13th January, hope to see you on the dance floor.
21.01.2022 VENUE UPDATE:- Beginning Wednesday 30th September from 7-9pm we will be back teaching dancing class at the Redlands Sporting Club, Wellington Point. Very much looking forward to that.
19.01.2022 With regard to Wednesday's class at the Redlands Sporting Club, we will be following the Club's and our own Covid Safe Plan. There will be hand sanitizer available at all times for your use and please bring your own towel. Drinks will be available at the bar but patrons should be aware that consumption of drinks should be done in a seated position. We must be aware also that social distancing is still a requirement of pubs and clubs so please be aware of greetings. Contact... dancing is allowed under our Covid Safe Plan but regular use of hand sanitizer is recommended. All patrons of the Club must be seated after instruction. With regard to increased numbers of people showing interest in resuming classes on Wednesday night at the Sporting Club, I have to take bookings as we may have more people than allowed, we are restricted to 18 students plus Paul & I. So as not to disappoint anyone we have decided to run both venues. BEGINNER STUDENTS and anyone else wishing attend classes at the regular Recreational Hall with Bill & Anne, you don't need to register and all other students who will be attending the Sporting Club please put your name below in the comments section. Maureen, Lynne Earle, Max, Marian and Judy are already booked. We will be teaching Zouk Lambada and Cha Cha on both Tuesday and Wednesday at this point. Great news we can all dance again and if we pull together we can make this work. Hope to see you this week. See more
18.01.2022 Just another quick reminder that dancing classes begin tomorrow night. Let's get started and drop a few of those Christmas kilos. Hope to see you there at the Redlands Sporting Club for Bachata and Samba de Gafieira, starting at 7.15pm.
17.01.2022 With regard to current stage 3 restrictions we are able to accept more students for Tuesday and Wednesday classes this week at our current locations. (see website for details). We can't dance in the clubs just yet. Although we are still solo dancing, Paul and I have been working on some really interesting and somewhat challenging steps with tips on styling as well as revising what we've covered so far for Cha Cha and Bolero. No booking is required, just show up on the night. Please remember we still have access to beginner and basic steps of required. I am waiting for further instructions from the Council and Ausdance Qld as to whether we can dance with partners again. I will keep you posted. Until then let's keep dancing where we can, hopefully we can all get back to normal again soon.
17.01.2022 As you may already know, we all must stay vigilant in these uncertain times with regard to Covid-19. With the latest Qld Premier's announcements yesterday and today, I thought I would bring you up to date with regard to dancing classes. Redlands Latin Dance is still currently following the latest Queensland Health Directive for Business, Activity & Undertakings. Although Redlands City is now a restricted area we are still allowed to operate our Dance Studio with dance lessons... under instruction in our hired hall space for up to 50 people, if we have a Covid Safe Plan in place. I am an associate member of Ausdance Qld and therefore have adopted their Industry Covid Safe Plan for all dance schools. We had a very enjoyable time at lessons last week with Zouk & East Coast Swing, everyone enjoyed the exercise associated with these dances. We are trying to keep some normality in all our lives through our shared love of dancing and live with the new norm Covid has forced upon us. I will keep you up to date and inform you if there are any further changes that may come to light. In the meantime, looking forward to seeing you this week at dancing. Lorna See more
15.01.2022 Due to Covid-19 our regular dancing classes are still closed. The venues we use are still closed but I will make an announcement as soon as we can resume classes again for everyone, ensuring their safety. In the meantime, stay safe and well.
05.01.2022 A huge thank you to everyone who donated their time and effort as well as a vast array of raffle prizes for our Redlands Latin Dance Christmas in July annual event. All the proceeds went to The Variety Children's Charity. As you can see from the photo below we raised $3230 which is a tremendous amount from all of you, our Latin dancing community. It's nice for us to be able to contribute to such a worthwhile cause. Once again a very heartfelt thankyou to all of you who showed us their support on the night. Lorna, Paul, Bill & Anne.
