21.01.2022 Red Lily staff had a wonderful time delivering their new Family Walking Together program. This program is all about cross teachings and sharing knowledge which improves our mental health by connecting to country and educating on building stronger relationships with Kakadu people. The lovely participants were keen to do some fishing and educated the Red Lily staff how water Lilies are eaten, and staff were also fortunate to be told local stories that have been passed down by... elders, all by a camp fire with a cup of tea and some shared lunch. The day was complete with the ladies catching enough fish to feed their families on their home return.

21.01.2022 Recently, Gunbalanya held a Healthy Women’s promotion week and Red Lily were lucky enough to be invited to be a part of this wonderful event. The event was all about discussing, sharing, and acknowledging that women are important family members, they do many things for their families, and its vital for them to be healthy and strong so they can continue taking care of themselves and their families. Red Lily Team has received a certificate of Appreciation for the support to "Gunbalanya Daluk Week" (31st August-3rd September 2020) from the Gunbalanya Health Centre and PHC Outreach Team.

20.01.2022 Red Lily Health showed that collaboration is the key when engaging with Kakadu communities in relation to preventing illness and staying strong. The support of staff from Northern Territory Government (NTG), Kakadu National Park (KNP), and donations from Taboo, Share the Dignity and Hon. Selena Uibo (electorate Arnhem) made ‘Kakadu Women’s Health’ a great success.

17.01.2022 The Red Lily team ventured out to the beautiful Mudginberri outstation to engage with residents, to talk about a healthy minds program. The feedback was very positive and we all agreed that mental health is very important, especially at this time with all the restrictions in place concerning COVID -19.

17.01.2022 "Red Lily Keeping Active" We all understand that exercise supports our physical health, however, during times of crisis such as Coronavirus (Covid-19), it is the first activity we tend to ignore. Being active can not only keep us healthy, it can also help us fight off infections. Exercise can boost our mental health and it’s more important than ever to keep our minds clear and focused. Red Lily Health staffs are doing their bit to keep active with 6:30 am starts twice a week, whilst maintaining physical distancing. Keep your mind and body strong during these times is very important with anxiety and stress increasing with the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

12.01.2022 It may just seems a big box, however, inside is over 120 smaller boxes containing much loved donated Taboo pads made with organic cotton in support of Kakadu women health awareness. In many countries, menstruation is considered completely taboo and menstrual products are either inaccessible or unaffordable or considered a luxury item. As a result, girls and women are made to feel ashamed and are unable to access the menstrual resources and education they deserve. This often leads to forced withdrawal from work or school. Thank you "Taboo" for your generosity, the team at Red Lily Health are grateful for your eager support.

06.01.2022 Nobody likes needles, especially Red Lily’s Project Officer Denise House, however with some education she realised the importance of Flu vaccination, and she thought she’d share this with you: - Did you know that all Red Lily and Jabiru Primary health staff get the flu vaccination? - Did you know that getting the flu vaccination can protect you from flu viruses up to 12 months? NB: It does not protect you against COVID-19 (Corona Virus). - Did you know that you can't catch ...influenza from having the vaccine as it does not contain any live influenza virus? People who can get free flu vaccination are: Anyone aged 65 years or older, regardless of medical conditions All children aged six months to under five years All Aboriginal people aged six months and over Anyone aged six months and over with a medical condition that may increase their risk of severe influenza infection Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy - the vaccine protects the baby in the first six months of life.
